My Dog Died Right Now... Goodbye Stone.... by OKOATA(m): 12:07pm On Aug 10, 2019 |
My dog has been sick for few days now, found out it was peeing blood so called the vet and he told me it was tick fever and the pee blood was as a result of a disease called hematuria, the vet gave him injections and told me to buy him jawaclox which ve been giving to him since few days now, he hasn't even eaten for about 3 days straight, I gave him the jawaclox this morning and I noticed that few hours later he just vomited blood and was gasping for air. The next thing he just peed blood and I watched it pass away right in my presence, it just gave up. So painful, good bye my beautiful and lovely Stone. Smoking a wrap of GREENS to take the pain away. 1 Like

Guest911:Why do some of you talk poo like you are born with it. So because of ONE quack doctor you can’t have dogs. Just say you can’t afford dogs and quality vet. Shallow minded boy. 8 Likes |

did you try force feeding him? even if it's glucose and honey it would've given him small strength to fight. a dog his age shouldn't stay without food for 3 days....chai I feel sad reading this story. I've lost a dog in a similar way..take heart bro |

IamAnderson:You are right, I forced him to take water. One of my friend said I should have mixed salt, sugar and water, it acts like glucose |

How's the Vet at fault in this case now? Be realistic when assessing information online, and comment sensibly cos the world is watching. Guest911: 1 Like |

OKOATA: Pet Owners should always check for ectoparasites from time to time. Guest911: I beg to disagree there are lots of veterinarians all over the country with solid ethics. Some pet owners do cut corners on costs. Before the dog in picture came down with tick fever, there were signs/symptoms like drop in appetite, itchy fur, deep yellowish urine etc. 2 Likes |

All of you quoting me, note that this dog could’ve been saved if not for the wrong diagnosis. The vet’s medication put the final nail in the coffin. Incase you missed this part. OKOATA: |

Lol please don’t be naive Mr broad minded boy. I’ve owned a Caucasian shepherd and monthly budget was 40k Royal canin feed and some raw chicken. Plus two weeks checkup at the vet. I sold him cause I was going abroad for a few months. But the supposed best vet in my place couldn’t correctly diagnose loss of appetite vomiting and redness in both eyes. She kept doing guess work despite having a card and coming there biweekly. Luckily we were able to save him though. My friends Samoyed passed away after the vet was just supposed to simply deworm the lil fella. I’ve read several stories here on Nairaland to even prove my point. I’m not saying all the vets are quacks but majority of them are. I’m not going to risk losing a sweet puppy because of all the inexperienced vets everywhere. KingAfo: 1 Like |

First, Hematuria is not a disease. It’s simply a symptom of the tick fever.. Your dog had tick fever which was left untreated for a while and then developed into anaemia.. That’s why the urine is orange in colour, another symptom of Anaemia is pale gums, loss of appetite and weight loss. Most people thinks it’s parvo 2 Likes |

Re: My Dog Died Right Now... Goodbye Stone.... by Kelvin30286063(m): 12:13pm On Aug 13, 2019 |
OKOATA: That was exactly what happened to my dog. The only difference is that while he was gasping for air, I knew he was going to die so I didn't watch. I simply left and came back when he was dead. Then cried my eyes big and slept on empty stomach. Mine was also peeling blood and the vet said it was tick until he died. |

Kelvin30286063:I didn't even expect Stone to die, he was just a lovely and lively dog, me and my brother watched as it died, I had to call some calabar guys to come and carry it because it would be a waste to bury it. I saw a thread about someone talking about vet clinics. I will buy the exact same dog but any sickness like this I will take it to the lab for testing. I won't allow my dog to die again. I miss stone so much. |

Re: My Dog Died Right Now... Goodbye Stone.... by Namdeenero(m): 10:31am On Aug 17, 2019 |
Jonesjoe:The key is to notice the issue early enough, while Anaemia takes gradual time to become fatal, parvo on the other hand kills faster... When you notice your dogs activity level as reduced significantly that's when you need to suspect illness then check for the signs of parvo or tick fever |
Re: My Dog Died Right Now... Goodbye Stone.... by OKOATA(m): 6:02pm On Aug 21, 2019 |
Jonesjoe:You should check a dogs temperature often, if their tummy is very hurt they might be sick. |
