Good day, everyone

Quick question from someone trying for the January window for an Msc.

How much would my sponsor need to have in their accout? Is there are fixed amount, or does it differ?

Someone said it was 20million, but that is appalling.

Depends on the Cost of Attendance and how much is left to pay

For those who were checked at the point of entry, when they checked i20, visa and statement of accounts, was the financial support letter necessary? I submitted mine to the VO and never got it back

VO doesn't send back SOA anymore. That's the new trend.
You don't need the SOA for nothing.
All needed at POE for F1 holders is your passport and I20 and possibly information about your final destination.

Does anyone have an idea if AP statuses change over the weekend?

Hello house, I would like to know if UPS (eshipglobal) delivers on Saturday? I tracked my i-20 and realized it has been in Lagos since 7pm yesterday, yet I haven't heard anything from them. I need the i-20 to request for an emergency date as soon as possible.

Also, I would like to appreciate @walspring for helping me make payment for my SEVIS fee in less than 12 hours.

You will have it delivered on Monday afternoon most likely

Hi Nairalanders....Masters program Admission

It is my first time here.Got Admission in GSU with out of state tuition waiver of over $20k and was denied on 11th January,2019 in Lagos.I applied to the same school and got another Admission with the same out of state tuition waiver and on 23rd July,2019 in Abuja, my Visa was approved but my sponsor's bank statement was withheld for further verification. My sponsor is my uncle and it is a genuine account statement.I was given two white papers and one yellow one showing I will be in Administrative processing. The statement of account is a company account and the VO said I should write the name of my uncle in full and give her and I did.She said it is going to take few days but today is 31st July I have not heard anything. My case was opened on 23rd July and last updated 23rd July.Anytime I mail passport status it will tell me "passport is with the post" but this morning it started showing me "there is no status update available with the passport number submitted".I checked using CEAC website it was still on Administrative processing with the same last update 23rd July, which is the date I went for interview.I don't know what to do.What do you guys think is happening? I am to meet with a professor by second week of August for prospective research position which I have discussed with him.My school will be starting August 26.Your meaningful contribution is highly needed.Thank you

You don’t have to worry yourself about it, allow them to verify the bank statement and also to do necessary background check. Since it’s a company’s account it may take more time and if it’s a genuine bank statement you will have nothing to worry about. Mine lasted for about 4 weeks before it was finally approved.

Make sure you contact your school so that they will be aware of your visa interview status and if you are still on Administrative Processing till class resumes, request for date extension from your school and if the extension date expires and you are still on AP, defer your admission to Spring 2020.

Goodluck and Congratulations man.

Fill the new ds160, copy the confirmation number and update it on your profile, then print new appointment confirmation letter.

I don't think he can print new appointment letter even though he updates with the new ds160 code. As far as he updates, and notify them at the first check during interview, he will be fine. For me, I was just fortunate to reschedule to a near date. It was as if the date came up because of me lol. So the moment I rescheduled, the new ds160 code automatically came out with my appointment letter since I had updated it on my appointment page.

Visa approved this morning at the Abuja consulate. I was scheduled for the 15th of August, but was fortunate to have rescheduled to 9th of August and do you know that I did that on the 7th of August?

Profile - BSc. ( Hons) Physics from the University of Jos Nigeria ( top of graduating class of 2017), 2 Published papers and abstract. Two awards from the American physical society. GRE physics -91 percentile (s). One Harvard e-print( NASA/SAO).

Funding- merit scholarship of $22,627 + teaching assistant position starting Spring. The merit scholarship has nothing to do with the teaching position. Course- masters in optics / optical sciences

Interview : window 8, had rejected someone already before I went to meet him..

VO - Good morning, pass me your passport

Me - hope you slept well! Here is my passport and i20

VO- okay why are you going to the City University of New York?

Me- Apart from the fact I was awarded a generous merit scholarship which of course I am grateful for, I chose this school because of the on going research of my..... VO cut in... He was amazed at the scholarship amount.

VO - how did you get this scholarship?

Me - my excellent undergraduate grades, previous research and awards... Cuts in again.

VO - which school did you graduate from?

Me- University of Jos, Nigeria

VO- that's a very good school you know.. I concurred.

VO- okay, what's optical science?

Me- I was surprised at the question, but I went ahead to give him a detailed answer.

VO- from your answer, I must tell you that you are a credible student.

Me- thank you sir.

VO- Great, but you know that New York is very expensive.. I have been there when I went for a burial.. I couldn't hear him clearly.. I don't want you to go and struggle even though you will be given stipends.. So where are you going to stay? Your accomodation? I don't want you to stay in an uncomfortable housing?.... We both laughed and our laughter echoed. Okay I will be approving your visa but I will advice you, make sure you study well, and don't forget to come back home if things go rough... Congrats again on your scholarship.. Then passes the white pick up paper, and the congratulations slip.. Have a great day.

Me- Thank you very much sir.

NB - I really thank Jesus Christ. If you don't believe in God, please I do. He has led me through since my undergrad days and during the demise of my dad. And I believe He will make me perform exploits..May God name be praised.. I wish those who are yet to be interviewed, a successful visa interview...

Congratulations scholar

he can print if he updates it. On your dashboard, just double click on appointment confirmation, it will take you to the page where you can print the updated copy

Hi guys,
I am new in this place and I want you to please help in making suggestions for good schools for fall 2020.
Undergraduate: Obafemi Awolowo University (O
OAU) . Electronic/Electrical Engineering. GPA (4.63/5.00) Toefl (80) GRE (Not yet taking).

Proposed US School:
University of Houston, Texas Tech University and University of Florida.
Program: MSc Electronic/Electrical Engineering. (Possibly Computer Science).

based on the Toefl score, I saw 79 or 80 as their minimum scores. Though I know it also depend on their acceptance rate. And I am thinking of using that score like that please is this a good choice Including Universities? Thanks

write GRE, try and score above 310 and above 100 for toefl, you will get into good schools with funding.

I am about to submit my Ds160, should I maintain my previous status? Gurus in the house!! @Sharwama

Good people of USA, greetings to you.

I'm very grateful for all the information given here.

I've taken my time to read through the threads and gained good insights from them which I've already started taking action on.

I'm really interested in this program at IIT, Chicago (Institute of Design). I'm only curious to know if they'll offer Full Funding or Tuition Waiver.

So, I've sent an email to the admissions unit and also filled the contact form expecting a response soon.

I've gone ahead to connect with current students on LinkedIn so I can ask relevant questions. I'm expecting their responses too.

Please, I'll need more advice on how to secure full funding schools or tuition waiver.

My preferred discipline: Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Human-Technology Interaction, Information Studies & Digital Design, Human Factors & Cognition.

Shawarma, congratulations, I'll be glad if we can connect. I've sent you an email on nairaland.

Looking forward to your responses.

Congrats to those who are recently approved.

I get one small advice for those of you on GA, GTA, GRA and undergrads with full-ride scholarship. I will drop it as soon as I settle down. It will definitely help those of you who wish to get your *** after graduation. I believe it is worth sharing, and as no advice is useless.

I have sent the GRE materials to all who asked.
