katlord: well you can't understand the length at which people can go to have there target met?? maybe you dont know that people can extract your phone number on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.. and match your profile Picture to the account without you knowing.. well its very possible and I can say that these my have been done due to pressure to meet targets.. |

This is no scam. It's purely leveraging on BVN database which I think all banks have access to. Your BVN record contains your Names, phone number, Bank accounts, and Picture. The only thing that may be wrong was creating bank accounts without the knowledge of the person and as an IT guy, I know your account can be created on request via the USSD code. They were just trying to be "Technologically" Smart and proactive such that with the use of a USSD code, you can have an account created without stepping into the halls of the bank. |

Nigerians have not seen anything yet, expect much more possibly from a road side barber. A lot of private and public organizations have our identity in one form or the other. Especially with the advent of cheap fingerprint scanner. Every dick and Harry ask for fingerprint scan when registering with them. Government should come up with a regulation on Identity management and protection for all Nigerians 1 Like |

MoneyMan5: I was about to say this. I have been banking with GTB since 2007 and I have not had a single issue with them. When I hear people complain about their services, I just bless the LORD believing that I am highly favoured. GTB still my best bank. 3 Likes |

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. I INITIALLY THOUGHT IT WAS AN ERROR UNTIL I CHECKED THE ACCOUNT NUMBER AND MY NAME POPPED OUT. FEW DAYS LATER, I RECEIVED ANOTHER ALERT THAT MY EMAIL HAD BEEN CHANGED ( without my consent). I DOWNLOADED THE APPS, INPUT THE ACCOUNT NUMBER, BUT THE APPS KEEPS TELLING ME THAT THE ACCOUNT IS LOCKED TO ANOTHER DEVICE WHICH CONFIRMS MY INVESTIGATION. IT IS A SCAM FROM GTB INSIDER! BEWARE!

This is unacceptable. Well Fargo bank in USA did something similar by opening unsolicited additional accounts for their existing customers. Case was taken up by the Regulators and they were fined heavily. It is not just right https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2016-09-09/wells-fargo-opened-a-couple-million-fake-accounts 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Interest on savings account dont make sense. I tried it with Fidelity with 1.2m for two months and I got less 8k. Upon that I did not initiate a single outbound transaction. You need to have other active accounts to experiment it. DBlackCeazer: 1 Like |

Wells Fargo got huge fines for this in Yankee and their CEO was drilled. CBN shouldn't come after them. 1 Like |

Re: GTBank Is Opening Unsolicited Bank Accounts For Unsuspecting Customers Unawares by U1(m): 5:07pm On Aug 10, 2019 |
Nitah1: If the N450 charge was true, I'd say you didn't do enough to have it refunded. You can report them to the CBN, if you think you did enough to try and get your money back. Cost per SMS is N4, does it mean they sent you more that 100 SMSes in one month? No bank dare try that with me. As for those whom accounts were opened for without requesting, simply contact the bank to close those accounts, report to the CBN or sue it! It's simple, isn't it? Many Nigerians fail to take action when they need to, preferring to just make noise to themselves. This is one of the reasons evil seems to be on the rise in the country. But it's surprising to see some complaints about GTB, though. I opened my first bank account with this bank and the experience - overall - has been the best, compared to the others I have (had) accounts with. |
