One Of Us Polluted The Air - Kenyan Lawmaker To Speaker, As Fart Suspends Debate

A heated debate about market stalls was disrupted by a foul smell and furious finger-pointing at a Kenyan regional assembly.

"Honourable Speaker, one of us has polluted the air and I know who it is," Julius Gaya reportedly told Homa Bay county assembly.

But the member he accused of farting is said to have replied: "I am not the one. I cannot do such a thing in front of my colleagues."

Hoping to clear the air, the assembly's Speaker Edwin Kakach then instructed members to step outside and take a break from the chamber, the British Broadcasting Corporation reports.

Reports also say he asked officials to bring in air fresheners "to make it pleasant. Get whatever flavour you will find in any office, whether it's vanilla or strawberry.

"We cannot continue sitting in an environment that smells bad."

Yet the smell is said to have subsided before any such sprays were found, allowing the debate to continue.

I can see I have given you one hell.of a job. .
Those videos are authentic and captured upperhill in its true undiluted unedited nature as other various youtube videos have revealed. You going online to get me some random archaic images is so funny..it's not as if that place can't still exist that's if the govt have not done something about it. Lagos is big and even that location seems unknown to me but look like mainland lagos and who is to know that this pictures are not old and the roads not repaired that's why I always advice that you stick to current and recent youtube video so you can provide your screenshot. .And by the way that not our cbd as my argument as always been centered on your most international tourist and business spot (CBD) the most developed spot in your over 500,000kmsq of resourcesless land.. lagos can have bad roads but a CBD hell no that is totally unacceptable .outside your cbd the rest part of nairobi and kenya is a massive slum and dumpsite with no roads as your country only manages to add an additional 600km paved road annually to the less than 10,000km of paved roads you have achieved since independence
By the way don't speak potholes to me cause the one in.in nairobi is a death trap..as for those pothole in that youtube video on upperhill that was just me being polite else I wold have provided you massive ones if I was so quick to screenshot

The worst thing that ever happened to this thread is you being allowed to creep in like a dumb ninja grin Give us substance broh. Dont kill us with foolishness.

‘Nigerian market kept Kenya Airways through hard times’
guardian.ng Aug 13, 2019 5:16 AM

The survival of Kenyan national carrier, Kenya Airways, from recent economic hard times has been linked to supports enjoyed from the Nigerian market.

The Country Manager of the East African carrier, Hafeez Balogun, said this in appreciation of the Nigerian patronage, which again underscores the importance of the market to international carriers.

Balogun, while receiving members of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA) and Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) recently in Lagos, said the local agencies consistently support the airline, especially for clientele’s holiday programmes and tourism.

Recall that the airline, partly owned by the Kenyan government and KLM among other investors, was in financial difficulties between 2015 and 2017. This was due to operational losses, for reasons not unconnected with rapid expansion of the fleet and routes, fuel-price hedging and the 1996 agreement with KLM that was considered intrusive in the running of the flag carrier.

Though the airline returned to recovery path late 2017, no fewer than 22 out of its 26 workers in Nigeria were sacked, leading to protest and picketing by aviation workers’ unions in 2018.

The airline continued on recovery path, acquiring new aircraft and route expansion. The airline recently launched a direct flight from East Africa to United States. Passengers on Kenya Airways’ Boeing 787-8 Dream liner now take 15-hour flight from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to New York.

Kenya earned $1.2 billion in 2017 from tourism, more than a 20 per cent increase from $989 million the previous year, and the US is one of the country’s biggest tourism markets.

Balogun said though a lot of doubts heralded the New York route, over 900 Nigerian passengers had been flown on the route till date.

“Nigerians in the Diaspora are also coming home on Kenyan Airways. So, we thank Nigeria for supporting Kenya Airways.”

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) also commended Kenya Airways for efficient services. Director of Consumer Protection Department at the NCAA, Adamu Abdullahi, said out of the 244 flights the airline operated in Nigeria in the last six months, only 68 were delayed, two cancelled and one had a ramp return.

President of the National Association of Travel Agencies (NANTA), Bernard Bankole, said the Nigerian market is viable and a feeder for other markets.

Bankole said that it goes to show the enormous gains that await the country “if we are able to get it right with our national carrier plan”.

Indeed, no fewer than 34 foreign carriers operate in and out of Nigerian cities almost on a daily basis. Among them are nine African carriers.

For instance, Ethiopian Airlines, the largest carrier on the continent, operates into Enugu, Kano, Abuja, and Lagos daily. Similarly, Turkish Airline operates in four cities of Abuja, Kano, Lagos, and Port Harcourt. Emirates Airline currently has four frequencies daily from Lagos and Abuja.

A recent fact-check by the Airlines Operators of Nigeria (AON) revealed that the foreign carriers currently account for 90 per cent of the four million international passengers that travel through Nigerian airports yearly. The capital flight is in excess of $3 billion (N1.050 trillion).

68816419:
Kenya’s Regional Imports Surpasses Exports, Raising An Alarm On Country’s Productivity

Kenya’s regional imports have surpassed exports in what can be attributed to the production of similar products on the continent that raises competition with Kenya’s products.

This comes at a time when the country is struggling with a trade deficit (the gap between imports and export), specifically, for the 20 year period between 1998 – 2018 when the exports grew average 8.4 percent per year while imports grew average 11.5 percent per year.

The total exports in the first five months in 2019 dropped 1.96 percent to Sh107.55 bn compared with a year ago. The trade deficit was signaled by a drop in exports to key markets like Uganda, Tanzania, and D.R Congo

For instance, exports from Kampala fell to Sh30.77 bn from Sh34.51 bn in 2013 while imports from Uganda doubled to Sh13.95 bn from Sh5.14 bn in 2014, data by Central Bank of Kenya indicated.

Tanzania’s grew to Sh12.95 bn from Sh8.34 bn at a time when the country entered into a deal with Kenya to sell one million tons of maize and flour within one year to curb the maize shortage crisis experienced in Kenya grin

Meanwhile, half-year exports to Tanzania reduced to Sh15.79 bn this year from Sh21.73 bn five years ago.

According to Charles Ogutu, a research analyst at Genghis Capital Limited Research, the trade deficit affects job creation in a negative way.

By relying on imports, we have outsourced jobs to our trading partners, more so the Far East Region which account for a significant aspect of the origins of our imports. This will dent the manufacturing jobs as targeted under the Big Four Agenda,” he told WeeMedia.

The trade deficit comes in the wake of decreased exports of the country’s key commodities like tea whose exports value fell Sh10 bn in the first quarter of the year.

In a bid to increase local production, the Treasury proposed policies that are geared towards reigniting the manufacturing sector’s growth and development.

For instance, the reduction of Import Development Fee (IDF) on raw materials to 1.5 from 2.0 percent, and the increase in IDF on finished goods from 2 percent to 3.5.

“This is expected to reduce the cost of imported raw materials, thus improving the competitiveness of local manufacturers against finished imports,” Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) CEO Phyllis Wakiaga said.

In the 2019/2020 budget statement, the Treasury also proposed the increment of Railway Development Levy (RDL) for finished products from 1.5 percent to 2 percent which is expected to cushion manufacturers against imported finished goods.
Like one of the Kenyan guys said,if their officials are actually viewing this thread then this should trouble them greatly. The Kenyan economy needs to buckle up before its neighbors leave it with nothing.

Seriously, Naijas why are your bros in the Caribbean overlooking you with all the direct genetic links, and looking all the way to E.A ? First was Ethiopia whom the Jamaicans see as their original buddies and then now the collective Caribbean nations have declared Kenya as the undisputed leader of the black world.

"Speaking in a Caribbean leaders meeting in Barbados, PM Mottley of Barbados noted that Kenya is currently and in the foreseeable future the undisputed leader of the black race in Africa, the Caribbean, the West, and the world at large. She noted that previously promising nations such as Nigeria and South Africa had proven horribly unreliable to lead to a prosperous path for the joint peoples. In particular, she singled out Nigeria as an embarrassment to all black men saying: "F.ck doz Niccaz!!! We in the Caribbean strongly refuse to be associated with Niggers from Nigeria at any cost". She also noted that Ghana is promising but is either unwilling to take charge or is not exposed or is totally disinterested in black affairs."
