Australian Universities are not necessarily concerned about GPAs inasmuch as it's not below Second class lower division (2:2). However, your choosing post graduate course should be directly related to your undergraduate subject if you want things to fly easily.
I will suggest you look out for schools in Regional areas of Aussie. They cheaper than schools in Sydney.
Make sure the course is a master degree type and it's in line with your undergraduate course. Tidy your statement of purpose well as sometimes DHA may request it.
Outside that Aussie will always give you admission because you are coming to pay double school fees as against their citizens...

The immigration law stipulate you work 20hrs/Fortnight during school section and unlimited hours during your holiday. Am unsure on what visa brought your brother to Australia and how he managed to survive. Having said that, alot of students over work to cover tuition and living expenses which the immigration and school are well aware of.
It becomes a problem when you fail to enrol in a Semester/Trimester without a proper leave of absence from your Uni or you defer numerous times, immigration may want you to give them a compassionate or compelling reason(s) why your visa shouldn't be cancelled.

It's definitely not easy like he stated. In lot of cases one thing has to suffer, either studies or earning money. You may also be able to marry both together if you're a better planner.

Am yet to hear a situation were immigration had to deport someone for over working their hours. Hence, I have seen where some people were stopped from entering the country after going on holidays overseas due to not enrolling for that semester and going over the required work hours.

I am very sure you will be fine in Sydney. Having a place to put your head makes it even better. Do not leave the burden of paying the house rental and other utilities on your brother thereby taking advantage of him. Support him, work with him, respect him, seek advice from him but not him alone.

Your question has been address countless time, for the benefit of others, search for school(s) of your choice and apply. Most schools if not all will direct you to their representatives (agents) to handle your application with that you are in a safe hand.
Any graduate or post-graduate course minimum of 2years duration is eligible for 2years post study work visa.


University of Adelaide is a AL1 Uni, you may not need SOA for visa application but some school do request for SOA to know the financial status of their prospective students e.g Deakin

You can check for some schools on AL1. They run what is called "Graduate Diploma programs that will allow you have access to M.eng in your preferred Area." after one year. The course is designed to run for 12months.

Good evening everyone. I applied for visa on the 24th of June but actually my start date was 29th July and I got an extension till August 9th.Yeah I applied late. At some point, the school asked my agent for my reference number to chase up the embassy but unfortunately the visa didn't come out. Summary: I have just graduated from Macquarie for my research masters. Declined a PhD offer and scholarship from RMIT (The director tried to convince me for one hour on call, at that point, I started to feel like a superstar) and went with Deakin because the scholarship offered by Deakin covers for Multi Family OSHC, Relocation allowance and Conference travel together with the normal tuition and living stipends offered normally. Other reasons are prospect of job, the enthusiasm and personality of Deakin supervisor over RMIT (before keyboard warriors go start to dey advise me. Lols).

Kudos to Daddybomboy, who tried to share a template on how to get the attention of a supervisor. Let me share another tip. Remember that everyone likes to be identified with and like to be valued. Showing interest in the professors past work and speaking from that perspective is a proven, tested and trusted way of catching his or her attention. For instance, immediately sharing how your research interest overlap theirs sparks their interest and showed the homework you have done.

Back to my story: I had my family visa refused as Subsequent entrant last August, I was patient enough to secure CoE and Multifamily OSHC policy (which cost 17600AUD for more than two people for PhD). My best best now is to apply as the primary applicant and put my family as dependent.

Another morale of my story: if you get a refusal, don't be in a hurry to reapply if you cannot address the reason for refusal. Make sure you are able to address those aforementioned challenges before going ahead or you will be met with another rejection.

Finally, Most of the times, I feel like my case is a very rare one for many reasons. Maybe people should start looking into it. I will explain, not a lot of people do the masters by Research I did, which is a one year full scholarship pathway programme at Macquarie or stand-alone course if you have no intention of doing a PhD. If you have a masters and excelled in it from Nigeria, you can look into this route as an escape route from Nigeria. Its a win-win situation, you don't have to pay tuition, you get stipends, another MSc in the bag and can progress into PhD seamlessly. I got my PhD scholarships because I started a project in my research masters that coincided with some projects underway at RMIT and Deakin, so I could speak the language effectively.

YOU WILL HARDLY GET PHD OFFERS STRAIGHT FROM NIGERIA MOST TIMES BECAUSE THERE IS A GAP IN RESEARCH EMBARKMENT BETWEEN NIGERIA AND AUSTRALIA. FIND A WAY IN BY THIS NEW PATHWAYS AND THE REST WILL BE HISTORY. I don't know if I am making any sense. Let me just drop my mic.

Long story short: if you made a first class or a very strong 2.1, have good academic references, one or two peer-reviewed publication, good employment, strong commitment to develop yourself, (in this case, taking it to mean leave Nigeria for Now, Keyboard warriors, take note). If you apply to 10 schools, at least one would offer you admission.

There are many things to consider before making such decision. You did not give enough information for anyone to help you decide. I will try to give a response from different perspectives.
PR: If you want to get PR easily, University of South Australia might be a good option because most parts are still considered regional especially those outside the ABC Adelaide Capital city. On the other hand, Newcastle where University of Newcastle is situated is not a regional area.
Jobs: There are no much difference in terms of available jobs in this area. But since Newcastle is close to Sydney, I would think it has more jobs or at least gives you more alternative and proximity to jobs. Nightlife: Again, South Australia is a relatively boring area compared to Newcastle, even though, Newcastle is not as bubbly as Sydney or Melbourne. They are all in relative terms.
Standard of living: South Australia is pretty cheap compared to Newcastle because the NSW effect has started to rub off on Newcastle. But you will be alright Las Las as there are jobs as countermeasures
Other things to look out for is the cost of tuition fees, prospect of your course of study to getting PR and general outlook based on your preference on the aforementioned topics. My study visa application was refused on the 1st August, 2019 (Please the reasons below). Should I request for another offer letter from same school while I address the issues raised? Or should I request for refund and apply to AL1 school and choose a course related to my discipline? If I pick this, I do not know how to prove that I will get job in that field when I return to Nigeria since my present career is not in line with my discipline. I am confused, I need help.
NOTE: I did not apply to AL1 list school initially because I could not afford the tuition deposit of 4m naira.

I have considered the applicant’s GTE statement and all other supporting documents
provided, and have placed weight on the following factors in reaching my decision:
I have considered applicant’s age, and previous studies and employment. I am not satisfied
that the applicant has substantially demonstrated in his GTE statement how the proposed
studies will benefit his career path and future remuneration. I have noted the letter from
Ministry of Environment and Water Resources dated 20/06/2019 “Request for Two Years
Leave of Absent Without Pay” however it is noted that this letter does not state what the
applicant’s future position will be, future duties or remuneration will be and as a result I am
not satisfied that the proposed studies will benefit the applicant’s career pathway and future
remuneration. I retain concerns with regard to the applicant’s claims of future employment
with his current employer. I also find it unlikely that this employer is able to predict their
staffing requirements in 2 years’ time.
I am not satisfied that the applicant has substantially demonstrated how the proposed
studies will benefit his career path and future remuneration, noting and placing weight on my
concerns with regard to the applicant’s claims of future employment.
I am also not satisfied that the applicant has demonstrated that he has investigated study
options in his home country or countries other than Australia. This leads me to have concerns
with regards to the applicant’s intentions once in Australia should a visa be granted to him.
I have also considered that the applicant has declared a spouse and 2 children remaining
in his home country while he studies, however these ties in themselves do not convince me
of a strong incentive to return to his home country, noting and placing weight on the fact
that there are visa options open to the applicant’s family members to join the applicant in
Australia.
While I accept and have placed weight on the fact that the applicant may wish to study in an
English speaking environment and obtain an internationally recognised qualification, I cannot
be satisfied, given the applicant’s individual circumstances, that the applicant genuinely
intends a temporary stay in Australia.
I am not satisfied that a clear and logical pathway has been demonstrated. I am not satisfied
that applicant meets the requirement of genuine temporary entrant and genuine student.
I am not satisfied that the applicant meets Reg. 500.212 of the Migration Regulations.

Jobs: There are no much difference in terms of available jobs in this area. But since Newcastle is close to Sydney, I would think it has more jobs or at least gives you more alternative and proximity to jobs. Nightlife: Again, South Australia is a relatively boring area compared to Newcastle, even though, Newcastle is not as bubbly as Sydney or Melbourne. They are all in relative terms.
Standard of living: South Australia is pretty cheap compared to Newcastle because the NSW effect has started to rub off on Newcastle. But you will be alright Las Las as there are jobs as countermeasures
Other things to look out for is the cost of tuition fees, prospect of your course of study to getting PR and general outlook based on your preference on the aforementioned topics. Google is your friend too. In terms of ranking. University of South Australia sits higher than University of Newcastle. Who ranking help if PR is not involved. These are my two cents. I studied Accounting in my first degree. Should I still opt for this course for master? I need a course I can easily get PR. And also if I begin my masters process now when does schools resume?
