naijalodge: In truth, I think it would be better for you to increase the funds at your disposal (8m) or at least get a co-sponsor. There are so many other factors involved than just having slightly above the amount needed for your proposed study. Try to increase the funds to above 10m if you can or at least, get a co-sponsor to be on a safe side. I guess you must have weighed in other options that might prompt a refusal apart from tuition fees and living expenses, right? Cheers! |

Exactly my thoughts as well, am also interested in knowing the uni with 12k for 2years . Or maybe the uni is in Newfoundland, there are some schools in Newfoundland that their tuition fee is $600 per term Abekebabe: 1 Like 1 Share |

Please greetings my learned ones in dis great group. I am new here and i need ur guide. I'm a gradute with BSc holder in Accounting with 2.1 . Currently looking to apply for Forensic Accounting in any high ranked university for my masters. I am 44 yrs and I just sent my transcript to WES and about to go for my IELTS. Ayoola03: Please I'm new to this studying in Canada and don't know where to go for authentic information for schools in offering Masters in Cyber Security. Can you please give me a load down of the steps please? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by waynee2baba: 6:55pm On Aug 18, 2019 |
Dude... to get admitted to an MSc programme in Cyber Security, you must have prior IT/Computer Science background or some sort of knowledge (Computer networking and basic programming). Your undergraduate course is more of finance and supply chain management. Although, since you took couple of web development courses, you might be able to get admitted at least. Some Universities might not admit you for Cyber Security, they'd rather have you do an MSc in Computer Science. Assuming you get it, you'd have to write a strong SOP to convince the V.O. So do a little research on couple of Canadian Universities offering your course and send an email to their graduate department outlining your qualifications and background - the goal is to see if you meet the admission requirements. If you get a go ahead, you can now submit an official application. The next thing would obviously be to find a way to convince the V.O, but one step at a time. hectorswag: |

100% My younger bro is also current studying cyber security at Concordia uni, he is an electrical engineer but IT option. His IT background actually boosted his chances of gaining admission. waynee2baba: |

Thanks bro, I’ve tot of getting a co sponsor but the issue is most of them don’t have huge cash in their accounts, if I may ask, considering the money in my account l,wat is the minimum amount that should be in my co sponsor’s account? BlessedOBA: |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by BlessedOBA: 8:32pm On Aug 18, 2019 |
naijalodge: I can’t really say for sure how much your co-sponsor should have in his/her account since they apparently don’t have much. There are some other factors that might come into play here like; how many people are depending on your co-sponsor? Is he or she married with kids? Etc I suggest the co-sponsor should expedite a transfer of at least 10k CAD (for your living expenses regardless of the fact that you don’t need it) to you and thereafter, write a letter of co-sponsor indicating why he/she is supporting your education. I think that would suffice. Other knowledgeable people can throw more light on this if you still need further clarification. |

Hello guys, can one be asked for tuition receipt at the POE ? If one hasn't paid yet, and the officer asks for reason(s); what are reasonable/convincing reasons for not paying tuition yet, considering school resumes in about a week or two ? |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Ayoola03(f): 11:17pm On Aug 18, 2019 |
The person in the best position to request for tuition receipt is the VO. In most cases, they dont request for your tuition receipt at the POE, I have never seen any cases of such tho, they only ask you questions to make sure you know where you are going to and your purpose in canada. But anyone who had similar experience can drop their inputs. You actually took a risk by not paying at all before submitting your app bro, you can always request for a refund when you get to canada and can easily switch course/school afterwards. BHA1234: |

waynee2baba: Thanks for the info... I'm sorry I'm new to all of this so I don't know what you mean by SOP and V.O I'm already doing research on a couple of Canadian Universities but still stuck on where to check for their fees and requirements. Please which ones will you consider the most affordable universities that can offer MSc in Computer Science? Can you suggest like 3 for me please that you would advise a Nigerian with low budget should attend? I can continue the rest of my research from there. Thank you! |

Ayoola03: Okay, so which masters program would you advise a graduate of Entrepreneurship to go for that'll guarantee higher chances of admission? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by waynee2baba: 12:16am On Aug 19, 2019 |
SOP - Statement of Purpose It basically includes the candidate's personal interests, goals, academic progress and motivations for the chosen career path. It's optional but you'd actually need to submit one because of your career switch. V.O - Visa Officer Any individual that handles your student visa application.
