I drive a Corolla S 2004. When the automatic gear system is transitioning from gear 1 to 2 it performs normal. However, from gear 2 to 3, it sometimes doesn't respond as the car behaves as if it's placed on neutral. Hence I just shift the gear from D to 2 to salvage the situation. Please note it's not every time this occurs. Sometimes the gear functions properly. Awaiting your response. Thanks.

is your check engine light on? is your speedometer functional?

My speedometer is functional. Also my check engine light is not on.

Check the condition of your gear oil(ATF). if already black and burnt, prepare for gearbox replacement. If just brown, replace atf and gear filter (gear sump has to be removed to access filter)
Filter must be brand new.

I got the right oil 5w-20 With all the API recommendation from the Cars Manual even the mechanic were like why did I have to spend much but lols I told them that's the right thing to do as prescribed by the manufacturer who knows Best

I don't know where he got that but we sell all grades of American oil.

I can share the sellers contact but he is in Oyo state

And trust me the Car does not short oil that was reason why I had to find the right oil to use I can't afford to pour in something different from what I read on the manual into the Cars Engine

The Oil is serving I've driven couple of miles since I changed it and the oil level has never dropped
Inshort it must not drop with that little bit expensive oil

Ran diagnostics check on my car and got the following code problems. I need your help as to how to go about fixing the issues and if there are specific parts to replace cos the mechanics seem to be doing trial and error.
The codes are p0420, p0441 and p0430.

These are evaporative emission codes. Check all evaporative emmision vacuum lines. Check your gas cap( does it close properly?)
Clear codes , drive car for a while and see if codes come back on.

I assume by "Check all evaporative emmision vacuum lines" you mean servicing of exhaust/ nozzles?

Nope...he implied there's a fuel air mix before getting to the iginition chamber. In order words there's air getting into ur fuel system. Ensure the fuel cap is properly tightened,if thats not the case,then inspect seal on fuel cap for degradation.
If that isn't the problem too,then u might hv to visit an auto shop. Very time consuming to detect the source of evap code though

Well done boss! I have this Avensis 07 that works seamlessly when in reverse gear, but act as if in neutral when put in Drive. It won't engage until I rev the engine, but works perfectly once it has overcome inertia. The only exemption to this anomaly happens when the car is first started; it works well. I have changed gear filter & ATF, but without much difference.

For a first time car user which is a better buy based on maintenance and availability of spare parts sir
