A dream to come through. But why is obiano celebrating over it. We knew that, only with time.
All with the help of president Buhari, argue with your fire fathers. Goods are now cleared in the east not only Lagos again, business are been transferred to port Harcourt, Onitsha and nnewi,

I like that. Galloping before learning to crawl. Obiano must be seeing everything from the altered perception of chronic alcoholism

Optimism is not bragging... Besides, in the midst of so much mediocrity, he does have some bragging rights.

If every state governor thinks outside the box, and makes effort to sort out the issues of security, infrastructure, and power supply, they will be in pole position to rub shoulders with Lagos.

This should be our collective prayer and dream... Lagos being the only true economically viable and commercially thriving state is not a thing of pride, and the consequent human congestion makes it more pathetic... Every state should step up.

Of course, overtaking Lagos is too long a shot, but every state can help decongest that place by striving for economic excellence....

Same submission here.
The man is talking of new investment coming , many are talking about existing one.
Cherez:
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this statement.
It is purely of healthy competition.
Lagos is a pride to the Yorubas and every wise governor in Nigeria should use it as a standard for now in certain areas.
Overtaking Lagos in investment destination doesnt mean economically too and these are just aspirations. And people are just making a huge mole out of it. However, Obiano should be wary of the kind of monies he spends on himself these days else people go beat am for Aroma junction one day

Good he has goals, the thing about new cities is to ensure they are really habitable, saw so many empty mansions in the Nnewi area when I visited that axis and their church buildings have spectacular paint colors.

Forget English.....if Anambrans won’t end up to be ethnic bigots, if they will allow Anambra to be called any mans land just like lagos then they can achieve this feat.

It will overtake Lagos without any airport in Anambra state, the investors will be landing in other states, proceed Anambra with Taxi?? Alcohol is not good in Obiano, system.... I swear
Anambra overtook many states with Airports in normal GDP like Kano state with international and local airport and more federal government supports , so Airport isn't yardstick

They always say that. And you think Lagos is sleeping? Many investors are even using Ogun State because of its proximity to Lagos.
Investors still prefare Lagos. The Atlantic Ocean is a big draw for them.

mrakeli62:
Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has said only Lagos stood ahead of the state in terms of investment drive and opportunity to net big investors from outside the country to Nigeria.

Obiano, who spoke during the opening ceremony of the sales outlet of a soon-to-be developed estate in the state, Awka Millennium City (AMC), said the state has been positioned as one of the top states in the country.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, Obiano, in his address, said: “We are happy to say that things have moved quickly since after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in June, between M-P Infrastructure and the Anambra State Government.”

“This shows that M-P Infrastructure people are prepared for business. I encourage you to continue and I look forward to the ground-breaking ceremony for this tastily estate, in the next four months, whose kind can only be found in Abuja, Lagos, London and America.

“This administration is business-friendly, and we have been calling on sons and daughter of Anambra from all over the world to bring a part of their investment home.

“We are building a world-class state, and our people are speedily heeding our calls and bringing home their investments. With this speed, we are sure that no state in Nigeria can compete with Anambra in terms of attracting investments from outside.

“Our major competitor now is Lagos State, and we are sure that at this pace, we are going to take major investment opportunities from Lagos very soon,” the governor said.

Obiano added that with security in the state, and massive investments, Anambra sons and daughters from all over the world have no reason to remain outside as good infrastructure from residential areas to amenities and business-friendly environment have been made possible.

Earlier, Group CEO, M-P Infrastructure Ltd, Dr. Clem Nwogbo, stated that his company was poised to give Anambra an exquisite residential area for top class citizens, promising that the yet-to-be developed city would habour all top amenities found in top cities of the world.

“In developing the master plan for AMC, we have had to engage some of the best consultants in the world, to ensure we have the best infrastructure designed, using best in-breed specialist in road and drainage, power, water, sewage, environmental, access control and security solutions design.

“In the next four months, we hope to have completed the access road into the Awka Millennium Estate, fence wall, monument gate and have a fully operational concrete fabrication yard.

“Your Excellency, we did promise you at the conception of this project that we will move fast on this project and today’s opening of the sales and marketing suite and handover of some of the key assets for delivering Awka Millennium City is part of that commitment,” he said.

For example this is Chelsea farms, one of the MOUs signed by Anambra state government. The investor started out planning for huge farmland but now is now building a whole brand new Agroeconomic city. These are the types of investments pouring into the state that people don’t know about.

This city when fully built will be a new economic hub.

There are so many other mini cities in the plans in anambra state that people have no idea.

Lots of investments is coming into the state by indigenes.

You need to visit ogun industrial estate

Do you think Lagos also boast of overtaking any economic city

40 years ke? Try 'not ever'. The most intelligent analysts will tell you there are constraints you cannot escape. Lagos host 18-20 million people making it the biggest single market in Nigeria. What is Anambra's population? Dangote refinery being constructed in Lagos will be the biggest in Africa. Can Anambra attract such investments? We have to ask if Obiano is smoking crack or this is just the usual case of ant (SE) comparing itself to an Elephant (SW) ??

Does Obiano know how many foreign investors, to include some of the world's biggest businesses, have secured stakes to host their headquarter at Eko Atlantic in Lagos?

Well-informed and objective Nigerians know that the only feasible scenario is that Lagos will pull further ahead of other states in future given it natural endowment, currently under-utilised, that other state will never be able to match.

I am an Igbo man, and am proud of Anambra for what they have been able to achieve, but for now this statement is a fallacy.

There are a lot of things that favours Lagos state.

Lagos was once a Federal Capital Territory

Lagos is a commercial town.
Lagos is an Industrial town
Lagos has Airport
Lagos has seaports
Lagos is still being favoured by the FGN as it sees it as the commercial headquarters of the country.

And Lagosians are accommodating
