TundeBricklayer: 1. The fact that you haven;t seen any any house built by a Yoruba man in Anambra doesn't mean they are not there or that Yoruba people don't have houses in Anambra state. You won't know because you are haven't walked around the whole of Anambra to ask every home owner there ethnicity and tribe, you are not even in charge of any government agency like town planning so you are not in any position to know anything. 2. You don't know anything about taxes and you don't know who is paying taxes or not because you are not the tax collector and you don't have facts or any knowledge about tax collection. 3. Stick to facts that you can prove instead of your fabricated tales and lame opinion. 1 Like |

TundeBricklayer: The fact that I can not mention anything doesn't mean Yoruba people don't work and invest in Anambra and you can not prove with facts that they don't. You are not Anambra state's business registration agency and last time I checked, they don't ask people questions about their tribal origin before granting business licences. Stop peddling your personal opinion as facts. 1 Like |

...actually I don't see anything wrong with Mr obiano statement. overtaking Lagos as an investment destination in Nigeria wouldn't be a bad idea. we all want another Lagos pls. but I wonder the comparison here on Nairaland. just like America, California and Washington DC isn't all they got, they have Florida, Texas, Newyork, Illinois, Georgia, etc why can't Nigeria emulate that?? Lagos, FCT, Rivers, Anambra, Ogun, Delta, Kano all should be developed as Lagos, for greater Economy of Nigeria. Being giant of Africa isn't just for mouth. we can be like America. no competition but Economic disintegration and viability for all 2 Likes 1 Share |

MyGeneration: You're deluded! Keep on running a divisive and evil gov't and supporting an unfair system that some feel they're being hard done by, and this shithole will break up faster than expected! Is Nigeria any stronger than the likes of the old USSR, Ethiopia, Sudan and the apartheid regime in South Africa? You knobheads that feel Nigeria belongs to you, and everyone else that's not of the Fulani stock exists at your pleasure, are in for a rude awakening if you don't change your wicked ways and jettison your warped and misplaced sense of entitlement! 1 Like |

Putinofrussia:Bros, go to NBS data and see for yourself In fact, if you visit the two states the only reason you will prefer Ogun is the current density of companies trooping there to evade huge taxes, cost of lands and businesses of Lagos. Driving into Anambra from all points except from Enugu, you will marvel at the roads which were all built by the state governors before FG refunded and still owing some monies. Same Anambra is not owing upto 20% the debt of Ogun state, neither is Anambra owing salaries like Ogun state. Or is it Academics? Aside the higher institutions in Ogun due to cheap land, Anambra has better education plan than Ogun state ( all govt & missionary secondary schools in Anambra has a bore hole, solar powered ICT centre & a bus by IVM). See, this isnt to say Ogun state isnt cool. Ogun state is so blessed that it is getting lots of things naturally but they've had bad administrators. They better go and pay Fashola to become governor there for 5yrs at least. 1 Like 1 Share |

kokomilala:I love your spirit bro but in this case Obiani said nothing negative about Lagos. He only said he is positioning the state to take away major investments from Lagos. Just like a "B" student saying he/she is studying hard to overtake an "A" student. How would you as either a teacher or an "A" student see that statement? Every young footballer will ways AY they wanna play better than Messi, should Messi get angry or happy being used as a reference? Nothing wrong in aspiring to become better than the best. Even Peter Obi had personal issue with Fashola &the deportation saga then that had nothing to do with Anambra & Lagos for real I suppose. 1 Like 1 Share |

immortalityk:Where is all these rubbish you're saying coming from? Obiano is a governor I dont really support but there is absolutely no chest-beating in what he said. Egbon, did you read the news at all or you just came in here anti-Igbo ready? Obiano said that at the rate he is going with investment drive, he will take over major investment opportunities from Lagos. This is healthy competition. Ogun state is doing that not out of hardwork but proximity; Due to high cost of Land in Lagos due to congestion, companies move to Ota, Sagamu, Agbara & Igbesa axis. Now Obiano is saying that he is focusing on driving some incentives to bring in investors. Truly, this is about the only thing he has really done so well in Anambra. Honestly, Nigeria is a bad place and will remain so. Now, you can imagine why some people will stifle quality transport mediums like air, water, rail and even good roads so Lagos will remain congested, suffering the lovely state. You're the one chest-beating now claiming Yoruba-owned investments. Bros, over 60% if not 80% of major companies in Ogun state are not owned by Yorubas. Is it Nestle, Hayat, May & Baker, Nampak, GZI, Ogun-Guandong, etc? Bros dont go there ooooo! They are also not owned by Igbos before you think I'm insinuating so. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Ritchiee:Im.tired of commenting on NL but you guys are bringing up stuffs that makes no sense. In academics stats, Ogun cannot compare to Anambra. Check unity schools' & POST UME cut off marks for both states even when Ogun is more populated than Anambra oooo! Check WASSCE, or academic exploits outside the shores of Nigeria. See, Ogun has universities who can't buy lands in Lagos with no direct impact on Ogun but for IGR. On infrastructure, Ogun is better? Bros name one good state road in Ogun state apart from the Sagamu-Abeokuta way and Abeokuta centrals. Oga Ogun state is about the worst states in Nigeria when you talk about roads. Just drive through all the boundaries (Akute, Lambe, Ayobo, Agbara, tube, Ijofin, Ibafo, Ogijo, etc.) of Ogun state and Lagos and you'll understand. Ogun state is lacking in serious infrastructures. Imagine the huge IGRs yet with heavy debts and the state is owing civil servants. Leave Ogun state ooooo! The governors have not really done well. Honestly, Lagos is class and this is why every state should emulate Lagos except for the political dominance there. 3 Likes 1 Share |

This is a useless comment by Obiano! No state can ever replace Lagos in investment destination. Not now and not in the foreseeable future. The infrastructural development in Lagos dwarfs every state and the fools arguing their foolishness here should be better informed. 1 Like 1 Share |

Eastlink: Please, can you tell us the daft comment Obiano made? That he aspires to work harder and make Anambra overtake Lagos? Isn't that healthy competition? Isn't that what he is supposed to do? Is he suppose to just sit in his office and be comfortable with Anambra's current level? Is aspiring to be like Lagos or even overtake it a daft idea? Honestly, you seem to be the daft one here. Sorry to say that. Some of you are just unnecessarily hyped up and threatened. Obiano has a dream and a plan. Let him execute it. Stop being angry that he aspires something great for his state. |

@Cherez,you're right ,on the surface. But his pronouncement, for me ,was done in bad taste. There is a deep-seated,all-consuming envy against Lagos. I know this. I agree with you on healthy competition and innocuous aspirations, but with a free spirit and an open mind. |
Re: Anambra’ll Soon Overtake Lagos As Top Investment Destination, Obiano Boasts by Eastlink(m): 12:07pm On Aug 23, 2019 |
Emyben:Most of you just follow political statements without understanding the issue on ground. Stop allowing Obiano rub your emotions. Anambra can only grow at it's own pace but never at the expense of competing with Lagos. I repeat, no Nigerian city can compete with Lagos at our current economic dispensation. Cities in the western frontier such as Accra, Abidjan and Dakar despite having viable infrastructures on ground can never go toe to toe with Lagos, let alone an Anambra that is in the hinterland and deprived of a modern railway. The infrastructural deficit others states have compared to Lagos will keep denying them those investments. Ogun state for instance is only enjoying the spillover industries from Lagos because of it's proximity. Until infrastructures such as railway interconnecting eastern cities to major export point is constructed, the so called massive investment will be only be miminal. I'm not talking about seaport here. Only a technologically advance means of transportation can bring other states to her potential and not the idea of using trucks to conveyed key raw materials in and out, thereby still profiting the same Lagos where these raw materials have their exit and entrance. 1 Like |

Eastlink: Your statement goes thus: 'What a useless statement by Obiano' 'No city can... ' 'Those foolish ones arguing' Now, read your first comment and see why I responded in the manner I did. You immediately made it seem like someone making an effort to catch up with Lagos is Daft. An effort oo. How can you say that? Would you rather prefer him to stay in his office, drink coffee and assume that Anambra cannot catch up. Is his job not to try? Let's be honest with ourselves. Ethnic Bigotry is the Bane here. The above states have the advantages that Anambra doesn't. But if the federal government carryout the eastern railway links then Anambra will compete with Ogun and Rivers state but never Lagos. |
