As far as he's decent with the ball at his feet that's what we're looking for

There's a huge hole in that midfield

Well that's not what I am looking for since we already have a decent ball holder in Etebo

I need someone similar to Kanu okocha Etim etc. People that open spaces for others to strike from

Hence the reason I'm thinking maybe Rohr is not really interested in that kind of pattern or we just don't have these kind of players anywhere in the world.

My friend stop making noise abeg. it is obvious u know nothing about the player u write of. Aribo doesn't play DM. he only plays CM (primarily) and AM - secondarily

Haha Etebo is not anything close a decent ball holder, He doesn't even complete 80% of his passes

Watch the Algeria match and see how Guerdiola bossed the midfield against us, Etebo is just an energetic Ndidi

Read my comment again bro but slowly
A ball holder is not neccessarily a ball passer, hence my clamor
We have that gap that needs filling.

Etebo can hold on to balls.

Do you think a ball holder is person who hugs unto balls grin

A ball holder is a person who makes sure balls are retained in his team by high percentage of passes and Etebo is not that

well said
drDoom3:
Rohr deployed Balogun as a DM against Cameroon and Tunisia in Afcon and it worked out very well. Balogun is a ball-playing defender unlike Omeruo and Ekong. Ball-playing defenders can also be utilized as DMs (Semi Ajayi) I believe in future tourneys Rohr can use some of these guys to come in for Ndidi cos he works too much and he can burn out

Iwobi has good passing and dribbling skills, but very poor in shooting and scoring. Also gets missing in games sometimes. That's where Aribo comes in. Very good shot, sweet left foot. Knows the back of the net. Also a midfield engine. I only pray Rohr gas the guts to utilize him further forward

you been dey expect me to applaud you for calling etebo a ball holding midfielder? that claim of yours simply implies you know nothing about football but won't keep shut.

Santoba won 2-1 in Kaduna two weeks ago.
Wish them all the best but I doubt if they will make it.

Iheanacho is in a bad place, he wants to leave but drops a transfer request after the transfer window has closed

And where did I say he was a "good" ball holder?

in the current SE, he's the one holding the ball.

That opponents playing the same position performed better than him doesn't change his role in the SE.

BTW, was it oonly Algeria we played at the AFCON that you will use that singular guy to undermine his SE games?

If we get a better ball holder, fine but my issue is on creativity. Not here to discuss Etebo, so lets stay on point.

What's the point grin Etebo is not a good ball holder

Can you tell me a game in the last Afcon we dominated possession?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by charlesemeka85(m): 4:38pm On Aug 23, 2019
creativity must not come from the middle, teams that lack creative midfielders use their flanks effectively to compliment that. i don't see the current super eagles team as a team that lacks creativity.

iwobi and chukwueze are good creative players but what will compliment their effort is a good cm/b2b midfielder who can easily move the ball forward with ease and as well distract teams who will work to nullify chukwueze and iwobi's creative threats in the team.

once rohr gets his hands on a good cm i think his team will be complete
