There's more to it. There are secrets buried in the Amazonian jungle that some want to get at. This civilization thinks it's the first. |

the fire seems intentional, its hard for fire to burn down a rain forest during rainy season, those trees and vegetation are filled with water and moist. For the fire to get this big someone or some powerful group fueled it. A good example of my explanation, ask yourselves with all the bombing, pipeline explosion, gas flaring, in the rain forests of tea Niger delta why haven't they experienced Amas fire like this one 4 Likes |

Generalwoodz:seriously i doubt the statistics, i think its exaggerated. if there's to be any region in the world with its forest producing up to or even more than 20percent i believe its in Africa, if only Amazon in south America produces 20percent, then the other forests and vegetation in the whole of south America produces lets say 10percent which is grossly under estimated, are u telling me that Africa which still has lots of untapped forests than even South America, North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Antarctica are all sharing an oxygen production level of 70percent? Timay you are speaking the truth 2 Likes |

the amazon just by its geography looks like a place with huge oil and gas deposits. that apart who so ever thats burning those forests is still loosing out, cause a whole lots of those trees can be used for timber and lumbering, but they are just wasting it on some wild fire 1 Like |

with the burning of the Amazon, and the disappearance of ice bergs and glaciers, desertification, shrinking and disappearance of lakes, in the near future there has been speculations that very soon countries which experience Snow fall might start seeing it as a thing of the past, as people are beginning to nurse the notion that snow would go extinct in lots of countries 3 Likes |

MyGeneration: The forest of the planet(Green) is pictured, and i believe you will see Africa compared to other continents. We only have one forest in Africa that can rival Amazon or other Rainforests of the planets, 'Congo Basin' and the Green you can see in the picture on the map. Mind you, Amazon is still around 3-4 times bigger. You can also help by stating some untapped forests in Africa that are more than those in South America, North America, Asia, Europe, Australia like you said above. Antartica is 14,200,000 km2 (5,500,000 sq mi) in size, over 12 times bigger than Nigeria. 98% of Antartica is Ice covered. So Forest is out the question. Don't be bamboozled by alarmist. Know your facts. 1. The oxygenation of the Earth's atmosphere happened long before plants evolve. 2. The Ocean is the Earth's lung. 3. Forest fires even though ugly are sometimes natural and beneficial to forests. (Not every natural disaster is a calamity. E.g A volcanic eruption is very dangerous but that is how land is formed) 4. If the wildfire is threatening human life and settlement, it should be quenched. 5. The Amazon is not under any significant threat. Our Forest in Nigeria are more threaten than the Amazon. |
