Transportation Ministry: Amaechi Fixes September For The Groundbreaking Of Transport University, Daura

On Friday, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, said the groundbreaking of the Transport University, Daura, would take place in September.

Amaechi disclosed this while inspecting Lagos-Ibadan rail line construction.

The minister said the ministry would also establish a factory in Kajola, Ogun, to produce materials for the rail project.

“We have agreed with contractors handling the university and the rail line to have the groundbreaking between September and October for the two projects.

He said the federal government was expecting contractors handling key road projects to hasten work to eliminate gridlocks, especially in Apapa area, Lagos.

He said the completion of the rail project would reduce gridlocks in Apapa and other parts of Lagos.

The minister said the factory to be built at Kajola would produce wagons and coaches and later locomotives, adding this would reduce import of the equipment from China.

“So, as part of the benefits, the company will build a factory in Kajola.

On the slow pace of the rail project, the minister linked it to insufficient funds and the absence of a cabinet to approve the payment.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 157 kilometre Lagos-Ibadan rail project was awarded in 2017 to the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) at the cost of 1.6 billion Dollars with a three-year completion agreement.

As at May, the laying of the rail track had covered 123 kilometers.

What's wrong in having a transport institution in a country? Or you are just allergic to positive development?

Btw, ameachi is a refined gentleman who I hope will be the president of this country someday. The man has proven time without number that he is hardworking and knows what he is doing. So far he is the best minister in buhari's cabinet

Huncle, you don't know Amaechi.

He is not a gentleman.

You cannot go far in Rivers State politics if you are a gentleman.

But is Amaechi hardworking? Definitely!

The accomplishment of Amaechi in Rivers State education sector is unparalleled... nobody can beat that record

Amaechi is also doing a good job at federal level.

Although Buhari has a team of incompetent ministers, I consider Amaechi the pick of the bunch.

i know you will come out from nowhere to defend him, a region in nigeria hv bn deprived of having a railway like others do hv yet he choose to build a legacy in a community that offers less to country economic growth. Where is South East, South South own share of railway?

We really don't need more universites.

Nigeria is finding it difficult to fund the exisiting universites....and eventually, fees would have to shoot up to fund all of them adequately.

Last I checked, there isn't any railway track in the NE even though majority of them helped in bringing APC to the seat of power, but you don't see them complaining every time. You guys that never voted for APC want to get everything that the party has to offer before the people that voted for them. Things are not done that way.

And even if the railway economic, social values are put into considerable assessment, connecting Lagos(SW) to abuja, kano(north) will be considered first before any other place. Besides most businessmen from the eastern part of Nigeria do carryout their business activities outside the SE. Go figure

When Fayose was writing letters to China against Railway loans were you not praising him?

Go and ask Fayose for your trains.

It was all APC /PDP to you then.

Please continue.

The BRT corridor was planned by consultants gotten from the UK. In other countries, transportation is a big deal and there are institutions dedicated to its study.

Use that money to improve primary and secondary education in Daura. That way, you improve the chances of kids from Daura gaining admission to other federal universities on merit. I think this approach will have a better overall impact.

i'm a big fan of GEJ. but bringing developments to your own state of origin is what Jonathan could not achieve in 6 bleeping years. bayelsa practically looks like crap. go to ogun state, obj did wonders there, especially in ota. Jonathan messed up big time in this regard seriously.

but honestly speaking, this is the highest truth i will tell this month, mr. Rotimi Amaechi is a hefty asslicker.

In 2016, Amaechi requested for slight amendment to the budget to accommodate the Calabar - Lagos line, but the SE and SS Senators were having problems with Amaechi and wanted to sabotage him, hence they instigated Saraki to refuse.

Now, the Calabar Lagos rail mine was to serve the states in the SE and SS was removed by Saraki.

This same Saraki is the one the SE stupidly supported last election. Talk about supporting your slave master.
