TWoods: Is it not your country too? No matter how much you despise Nigeria, it is still your country. You have acquired enough knowledge from the US that can help you fix your country, so why not come back to your country and fix it instead of sitting in America and talking bad about your country when you have not even done a thing to make a difference. Eversince you have been ranting about fixing your country, what have you done to make a change? You know, if every Americans were like you and your selfish American wife, you wouldn't had had the opportunity of being in America not to talk of marrying an American, and your selfish American wife wouldn't had been this lucky to have you as her husband. You are not in anyway better than our selfish Government. If you really want a change in your own country that you despise so much, be the change. Let the change start from you. Come back home and fix your country because that when you would have the right to talk to others like you have been doing. Start the change. 40 Likes |

waynee2baba:Honestly you shouldn't mention his wife in your post this way. Whether or not you and Twoods do not agree on certain things, it's disrespectful to talk about his wife this way. Let's all just be civil and be constructive in our criticism guys. We must not all agree, just share your opinion and move on 10 Likes |

During your interview in Nigeria, I am certain you didn't tell the VOs you had plans of working and this is assuming what you said is true. But you insist on blaming everyone but yourself but you all are the reason travelling is now a big deal. Own your hypocrisy bro. Change begins with YOU. We are not blind to the moral bankruptcy in Nigeria, some of us are actively leading that change but we do not pour our frustrations out on a faceless forum, while harassing those that are seeking the same route you chose. Own your L bruh or come back to join those advocating for the change you seek. TWoods: 17 Likes |

Akindeo: Thank you a lot. I wasn’t even aware of the ‘120 days’ rule until a day before my interview while I was reading the thread. Did the interview yesterday, issued a visa and asked to pick up passport today. You can schedule an appointment, if you must. I am not exactly an expert in this field. Let’s just say it was God’s grace. 1 Like |

waynee2baba: Forget about slave trade or colonialism era. A lot of African countries like Ghana, Cameroon, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Gambia etc all experienced the slavery too , but you don’t see them engaging in Human trafficking, Drugs & cyber crime the way we Nigerians engage in all these activities . The point is the idea of quick money is what is motivating all these crime both in Nigeria & in diaspora; POVERTY is the only thing that brings shame to an average Nigerian . 9 Likes |

Please I want to know if anyone has used government sponsorship to prove financial support at the embassy before. Can any of the 3 tiers of government sponsor a student successfully at the embassy. If so, does the formal sponsorship letter from the government suffice? Or do they have to present their Account Statement? Thank you. |

TWoods: You overgeneralised, you are also an immigrant. A lot of people leaving Nigeria are moral and honest people. The 80 Nigerians represent a few out of the thousands of Nigeria making positive impact on US soil. If someone judges you based on those people's action, i am pretty sure you won't be delighted. 2 Likes |

Oasishavenng: Seems you guys arguing with Twood are new to this thread, cos you hardly see a old folk doing this with him, no be today he start to Dey talk rubbish about Nigerians aiming to travel abroad, after him fall out of status come go marry one size 60 oyinbo. Quick question, during your visa interview, did you declare you’re going to America to get married to a citizen? If No, definitely you’re one of the reasons genuine visa applicant couldn’t get their visas. Mr Twoods, No matter how long you’ve been in America, no matter your impact, contributions to their economy, you can never be one of them, they know where you belong, it doesn’t take them 24 hours to send you to your zoo when the time comes, don’t get carried away like a bastard who always describe his father’s house with a left hand, stop seeing those living in Nigeria as trash, not all Nigerians involve in scam, you living and having a good life in America doesn’t qualify you to be the best, it’s just an opportunity, open that blue passport you’re holding and see where NIGERIAN BY BIRTH is stated, If you can’t go back to fix Nigeria, then stop discouraging those who want to leave just like you did, God bless Nigeria. 28 Likes |

Pillyportions:So you are not just going there to pursue education, you also have immigration abi job hunting intent. This is the problem right here. Please study the Social work in the abroad and return to your fatherland to make an impact. There are so many orphanages and NGOs and ministries that would rush you Social workers in the US are so much, the supply technically is higher than the demand. The implication of that is your degree won't be a bonus, they would employ an American citizen with lesser education over you. You can't compete with citizens even with your M.Sc. Your case could be different though but the odds don't seem good, the money you will spend, the returns don't seem good. However, it is important to study a course you are passionate about, so when the chips are down, when you are as exhausted and frustrated as I am right now, when you are fatigued knowing you have to teach several lab sessions, grade papers, attend classes between campuses, taking two to three buses coz you can't afford a car, even taking classes on weekends and conducting experiments on Sundays, when you get to this point when your life is no longer your own, only passion and genuine love for the pursuit of education and a better future can get you going. So my question is, why do you want this degree? Whatever your answer is, I have shared something with you, but if you can't take it, someone else will. Don't P.M me please, I am a mad woman right now, I am adjusting to something I was not prepared for. You should probably pray for me my friend. May the force be with you. 26 Likes 1 Share |

TWoods:Bia, but nobody asked you now, why are you so scared to practice what you preach? Be the change you want us to be. You have spent loads of time in the US, gathering experiences that can change lives back home in Nigeria. Don't you think it's time to return home and help us fix this country? Don't be an hypocrite, practice what you preach. 12 Likes |

sharwama: May the force be with you and may all the lines falls in your favour..... it is well, this phase will pass and become brighter . Some beginnings are rough but later you look back and smile . When i travelled my parents were so excited bought me business class air ticket , schools fees paid and all. I got to school and there was an issue with my oncampus accomodation and i was homeless ..... with no phone or internet or friend , someone just pointed a low cost budget hotel which was my home for 2 weeks till it was sorted. I felt so alone, so unsettled, many tears , knew nobody in the town, overwhelmed by it all .. it was a shock going from business class to been homeless . ...... however it's all history now and i remember with a smile . So my dear you will look back and smile at your jjc days 29 Likes 1 Share |
