It seems the ECO didn’t see your documents... you should reapply and make sure these things you listed are showing and clear after you upload. You should also add his house documents since he would be sheltering you. . And maybe other proof of communication between you people such as chats or emails plus the pictures.. make sure they all upload. Kai sorry Also write a letter and attach to your application. zakmus: |

Justwise if the ECO made such a grievious mistake by omitting to view those vital docs....then am afraid Home office needs to flush out or query such incompetent ECO's....what nonsense!....its outright madness to cause one such emotional pain and making them spend money over again. When it could have been avoided in the first place. This people sha can be annoying. Dear poster am so sorry for your refusal and wish you luck in the next one. justwise: |

Thank you for your explanatory response. At times, I wonder why some ECOs don’t scrutinise visa application very well. I only stated in the application that I will visit for only 6 days, from 8th to 14th September. The large withdrawals were monies for a building project which I embarked on and also payments for my Postgraduate program. 1.Though I never thought it could be an issue as I would have submitted receipts as evidenced if the withdrawals. 2. How do I establish savings from my previous salary? I have been earning salary since 2012, hence the opening balance. ancestorial: That is bad of the ECO. Atimes they make mistakes too. My advice when you apply, highlight the six days from either your hotel reservation or any place you stated the six days and make clarification that u stated 6 days not 14days. 1. Same here, never knew that withdrawals will be an issue. Even in my previous visa I have made large withdrawals than my stated monthly disposal and my visa was successful. "God's favour" .I taught is mostly on large credits they are concerned. We all need to be careful bc eco are looking for slightest thing to refuse visa. In next application try to explain the reasons for large withdrawals with prove and be careful not to withdraw more than you stated in monthly disposal. I will advise that u made use of the narration in your mobile app when making debit transactions. E.g monthly expenses & savings OR just monthly expenses. This usually reflect on y statement when u print and mark as proof too. 2. You can't establish savings from your previous job. Saving is income not spent, or deferred consumption. Methods of saving include putting money aside in, for example, a deposit account, a pension account, an investment fund, or as cash. U can only start to make savings for atleast six months or one year bf u apply. And the savings must be explained. E.g you earn 380k, every month you withdraw 100k for monthly expenses and you withdraw again 50k and deposit it in another saving account without withdrawing from it for complete six months or one year. That is how u can establish savings. And this need to be explained to eco to convince the eco that the savings are genuine. E.g from all my source of income every month I make 380k which is the only credit entries in my salary account. There are debit transaction every month which is 100k for my monthly disposal/ expenses and debit transaction of 50k transferred to my GTB account as my savings which is only the credit entries. Note: you can not use another source of income not explained as your savings bc ECO will like to know how, and where the source of your savings is coming from. Why the ECO lay emphasis on savings, is because the large withdrawal u made can not give you that amount u stated in the opening and closing balance. So when you withdraw that large amount, it means towards the visa process, u started making credit entries and u said you have no other income. So where do the money comes from to make up the closing balance if such withdrawals was made. The same with opening balance. This ECO are very professional and your application was not decided by one eco, it was collectively. Moreover, they are not concerned so much about the final balance. They want to see how the flows through the account map in to your personal circumstances and lifestyle. In next application take your time and work on your mistakes especially the personal and financial circumstances. I believe u will be successful. All d best 1 Like |

There are some cases that requires you give it little time before reapplying but whenever it has to do with unexplained lump deposit then I will advise you reapply immediately and explain it to them like you are teaching a 6 year old child with details of the transaction that let to the credit (invoices, contracts etc) Same happened to me. I was refused 16th of June, I reapplied immediately and I got my visa 28th (priority) You can then address other cases in your cover letter. I do advise people to use additional information section to explain critical points because at times I feel they don't get to read cover letters. lovesavvi: |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by NanaOne1: 9:27am On Aug 24, 2019 |
lovesavvi: Hello Lovesavvi, Even thought the ECO made a mistake with the purpose of your visit, he raised another issue regarding the deposit to your personal account which did not originate from your business account. Before reapplying, you need to address that. You claim the credits are payment by clients, please did you explain in your cover letter that apart from your business account you also use your personal accounts to run your business by receiving payments through it? If you did not explain this in your cover letter then I think the ECO checked your business account but could not see you transfer that money from it which made him doubt the origin of that credit to your personal account. Even though you provided receipts and you have a business accounts traditionally payments should go through your business account unless you explicitly stated that you use your personal account for business transactions. Please let us know if you explained this in your cover letter Regards, |

Hello house and Justwise. Please help me with this. I have been to the UK twice now for both a convention and visit. I did a renewal and applied for 2 years instead. I have just received a 2 years visit visa and while applying I stated I wanted to go for a convention just like I did last year and will stay for 22 days. Will staying for more than 22 days affect my future applications? Remember I have been to the UK twice now but I am confused that if I stay for more than 22 days with this new visa, it will affect my future applications. Please Justwise and house advise me. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Okororeg: 1:13pm On Aug 24, 2019 |
Good afternoon house. My name is Okoro. Please I once indicated on my UK visa application that I know only 1 person who is my step - sister. In year 2017 we had a wedding and one of my family I have not seen for a very long period of time was present and I discovered that he is also based in the uk. Since then we have been communicating effectively and he is ready to invite me to the UK now. We bear same surname as we have same father but another mother. Our father had six wives. Please hope it won't affect my application because I did not list him as one of the people I know in the UK in my visa application in the year 2016. He was in Nigeria in January 2019 when my daughter had her birthday and we took pictures together. Can he state in his letter of invitation that we lost contact for a long time and that we met at a family party in 2017 during my cousin's wedding while I also state it in my cover letter? Please advise. Thank you. |

Fekonzy: I will be surprised if you are able to renew that visa. PhD research was not mentioned in your application and you did not budget for 2 months stay. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Fekonzy: 6:34pm On Aug 24, 2019 |
justwise: Ok thank you so much. But for clarity sake, its compulsory that I stay for a maximum period of 22 days for the first trip, Then subsequent visits can be more than that? Also what duration am I allowed before I can return? |

Thank God I got my UK settlement visa yesterday. It was a virgin passport. Myself and my fiancee did all the work for the verifying officer. Neatly arranged all the documents together in separate files ranging from Application documents,Financials and non-financial docs(Sponsor and Applicants),Relationship documents, Accommodation doc and other supporting documents. We arranged a lot of documents especially about the genuity of our marriage, parents affirmation docs etc. The email received is generic from TLS Abuja and does not show information if the visa was refused or approved until I got my passport. Contrary to the information that you will see a paper/letter inside that your passport which is the refusal note. I saw a paper/letter inside my passport which was my visa instructions. Am UK bound. Applied on the 4th of June Biometrics on the 10th of June Sponsor suited Supporting Documents on the 17th June Received a mail from TLS Contact Abuja that my passport is ready for collection 22nd June Received my passport and visa 23rd June Glory to God. 12 Likes |

Okororeg: The problem with your story is that it's far too common/familiar, no doubt that the ECO might have heard such stories too many times before. The question is ...will the ECO believe you? No one here can answer that, you just have to apply and explain the situation the way you did here. 1 Like |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by justwise(m): 3:26pm On Aug 25, 2019 |
Fekonzy: Perfect reason to travel to the UK and stay a month or two depending on your research need but you have to mention this in your application so as to have it on your file |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Fekonzy: 4:04pm On Aug 25, 2019 |
justwise: I mentioned it in my application that I have collaborations in the UK and would be making lots of trips there. However, for the first trip, I stated it was for a convention. So if I overstay the 22 days on this first trip, would it still affect future applications? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by justwise(m): 4:18pm On Aug 25, 2019 |
Fekonzy: Stick to what you stated in your application form then return later for much longer stay since you have informed them already. |

Hi justwise and all, please I need your input on this. I would be staying with my brother in the UK when I visit and he would provide accommodation and feeding for me. My question now is this, on the form where it says is anybody else paying for your trip, do I say yes and say he would just be providing accommodation and feeding or I say no and include the fact that he is taking care of accommodation and feeding in the invitation letter he sends and also in my cover letter. Please your your urgent response is appreciated. |
