Did God ask that Mary be worshipped as the Catholic church does? My dictionary defines "worship" as "The devotion accorded to a deity or to a sacred object." Keyword is devotion... and Catholics are devoted in their reverence of Mary. Catholics offer prayers through saints... I saw one the other day, Olivia of Palermo. Why would you ask a dead person to intercede for you? Only Jesus Christ lives forever... and He alone is the way.

I hope I'm not sounding argumentative. I'm only seeking to understand.

Matthew 6:7 "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they. shall be heard for their much speaking." The incantations I was talking about are all those "Hail Marys" "Acts of Contritions" etc. Aren't those repetitions?
I downloaded the Catechism Book once... man, wasn't it confusing? Catholicism is saddled with so many complexities. Christianity shouldn't be that doctrinal, don't you think?

On my own, I can't understand it... I may understand and embrace confessions today because I find the biblical standing, but the rest? I continue to see perversions. The bible clearly says "do not make for yourself any graven image," "do not bow down before any graven image." Catholics have chosen to add a "but" to those commandments. To contravene and offer up justifications.

I guess when the time comes... if there's a truth I need to come to terms with, the Holy spirit would have to help me out personally.

Pls catholics don't worship mary. We honour her. For someone to be sinless, Carry Jesus , and be the mother of God is nor easy. Mary deserves every honour given to her. Mary was actually dealt with. Do u know how heart broken it is seeing ur son being accused and killed in a terrible manner. The way Christ was killed nobody have been killed that way since history. And mary herself witnessed the event till golgotha. Imagine if its ur son that is done such, how would u feel?. That's why she's sometimes addressed as lady of sorrow because her heart was pierced seeing what they did to Christ and remember that this was in fulfilment of what simeon told her that a sword will pierce her heart but mary never knew it will reach to that extent. Y can't I honour a woman that was assumed into heaven? Go and read revelation. Y can't I honour mary who was so pure that he was chosen to carry holy Jesus? Remember she has to be holy before she can carry jesus because Christ himself is sinless. I Jst like tell u the kind of woman she is. Even heaven recognized her.


As for that of saints? Catholics only asks for intercession from saints. We don't worship them as well. We ask them to intercede for us. If u can ask ur friends and ur parents to pray for u, then y can't I ask the saints to pray for me as well?

but the ark of covenant the Israelites cherished was made by man under the instruction of God. Even the serpent statue was created by moses under Gods command. Remember what serpent did to Adam yet god still use its image to heal his people. In summary the images God talked about was things that I affect your love or relationship with God. Example loving money more than yourself or jewelry or making any thing important to you than God. Your thinking about Catholic worship of images is like when Christ said he will destroy the temple and in 3 days he will build it back. If the bible had not said he meant his body we all would have been reasoning like the Jews who said he took them 40 years to build.

in Christ no one is dead. When the righteous dies he lives for ever with Christ . in rev 5:8 you will see how john saw the revelation of the saints praying for the people.
