None of East Africa cities come close to Nairobi. Adis,Dar, Kampala and Kigali are competing with Mombasa. Not Nairobi. I don't know if you know tha Dar Slums longest double lane road is not even 10kms . Maybe having BRT - which is just a dedicated bus lane - give you some kicks - but Nairobi infrastructure is world class. Way better than anything you got in Nigeria. You talk about light rail...Nairobi has always had a light/commuter rail that has always been functional. It just need to be modernized.

Look at colours.That is Nairobi Commuter Rail.It carries 10k passengers daily.That 3.5m passengers annually.You have nothing close to that in Nigeria.Ours is functional...just need few tweaks.Some stations include Syokimau, Imara daima,makadara etc.

The usual corrections - sector wise - but overall kenyan economy is strong. The problem with our real estate is 2016 interest capping. Kenyans are enjoying 13% interest rate. Nigerians would murder you for such a rate. Last I checked you were getting bank loans at 25% interest rate

Anyway the side-effect of our low interest rate regime - is the real estate sector -- has suffered as banks are not willing to lend to the sector - and secondly Kenya Gov 0.5M Masss HOUSING project has led to wait & see.

So two factors - 1) Interest rate capping 2) Big 4 Housing Agenda from Uhuru gov - has led to current trouble with our real estate.

Per capita, they won't. The overall GDP - their biggest asset - 100M people - twice ours - and land size - twice ours. Their biggest problem is entrenched deep tribal differences.

I think if they open up their economy - finance, telecommunication and etc - for private investment - they can overtake us.

Kenya has to match Ethiopia public investments & industrialization - and we can do that by bridging our infrastructure deficit & tapping Chinese industrial machine.

So basically Ethiopia has to improve private investment. Kenya has to improve public investment.
