Hey guys, I have just successfully hardbrick my RN5 device.
The phone is bland and not showing anything. Its not coming up, not detecting any usb attachment.

Please, is there any way out or any engineer anyone can recommend to fix this for me?

Drop your location for people to know if they can assist.

I am approximately in Ilorin but I am ready to travel to get over the brick. It's going to cost more getting a new device than transporting to get this over with.

What do u mean by fake UBL?

Contact Lovexme, he was able to unbrick his and another persons. He is in Lagos though.

Fake Unlocked bootloader, that was the cause of most bricks for those updating from Oreo to Pie on RN5.

fake unlocked bootloader, it's common with redmi note 5 and it bricks the device when upgrading from oreo to pie.

What actions were carried out on the device to get to the bricking state?

Seems more like I flashed the wrong ROM into it and I doubt if my bootloader was properly unlocked. I played around flashing the wrong ROM on it too much.

miflash won't even allow flashing wrong rom, it brings out a mismatch error or so.

The issue started around June when that troublesome update came, and it soft bricked my phone. I had terrible booting issues and the phone freezes at will.

I had to wait till this recent update on 23rd. It partially resolved the issue to an extent but I still had booting and freezing issue. I then decided to use some custom ROMs on it. I tried AOSP but it was way terrible, ported to Pixel and still same issue. I then decided to get back to my darling MUI. But I wrongly used a MUI 9 Rom based on android OREO. That was when my device failed to boot. It literally died.

Note: I couldn't toggle on my OEM unlock and I didnt successfully wipe davik and cache in recovery mode before proceeding to install the ROM.
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by acekid109(m): 1:59pm On Aug 26, 2019
Peterjosh:

then the custom rom is messed up, it ought to contain a script which checks the device properties, if it doesn't meet up then deny the flashing of the rom, that's how most custom rom works.
Or you used a custom rom with a lower ARB than the installed rom on your phone, those are the 2 possible explanation. If the phone shows as either port 9008/9006 mode (edl) on your system, there might be a solution. If it doesn't, do testpoint and connect to a system, this should make the system detect it in edl mode

Looks like your ARB level changed. If it's redmi note 5, there is a way to use modified firehose file and flash with locked bootloader and no authorized account.
