helinues: Saraki case was citizenship by birth. He didnt acquire it.He did not swear allegiance to the UK.It was automatic. All those who acquire citizenship are not fit to hold their seats.Simple! 1 Like 1 Share |

helinues: Saraki's case is different, Saraki was born in the Uk, he did not swear an oath of allegiance, nor did he acquire a citizenship of another country, he was born with dual nationality. The law is very clear, you can have dual citizenship and contest for office by circumstances of birth beyond your control but when you go out of your way and deliberately acquire citizenship of another country and swear an oath of allegiance to another country, you are not qualified for these posts in Nigeria. 2 Likes |

Deepthoughts: Atiku is not better because Atiku is not even a Nigerian. Atiku is from Cameroun and he did not formally change his nationality and swear an oath of allegiance to Nigeria. ....technically speaking ofcourse. |

They should all be sacked Cos once they have dual citizenship, they will never care if this country crumbles or not They have where to run to |

Susu888:Noone took Saraki to court on account of his dual citizenship. They could not because things would spoil. However as it is both Lawan and Gbaja may be dragged to court, except the appellate court overturns this judgement. |
Re: Dual Citizenship: Senate President, Speaker Risk Losing Seats by Monday60655(m): 2:04pm On Aug 25, 2019 |
He was removed because he belonged to the opposition party (PDP) and not because of his dual citizenship. Dual citizens have been contested, won and stayed in office since time immemorial. |

tck2000: Let demonstrate a scenario here ... Akin a Nigerian married Ashley an American in Lagos and they live in Lagos ; akin can contest for senate president or any position. Akin & Ashley are married and both lived in the USA , if Akin is just a Green card holder then Akin can contest for any political seat in Nigeria. Akin & Ashley are married and both lived in the USA , but akin applied for citizenship in the USA & was granted; then Akin won’t be able to contest in Nigeria. Thus, if Akin & Ashley have a baby boy named Tobi; if Tobi was born in either Nigeria or USA & held both Nigerian & USA passport then Tobi can be a senator in Nigeria & in the USA as well . Davido, Wale & jidenna are good example 2 Likes |

isthatso:Assuming without agreeing that what you claim I'd correct, did you know how the place Atiku came from became part of Nigeria n the legal implications of that process? then compare that to the situation of these sabotuers n see who is worse,I bet you will agree with me except if you are biased. |

Oga SAN, did you read the US oath of allegiance? Is that not tantamount to denouncing any citizenship hitherto held? What more? dre11: |

Deepthoughts: With regards to Senate president and Gbaja. Ofcourse from the point of view of eligibility to run for office, they are all not qualified to hold office and one could even say their cases are worse than Atiku because they have sworn an oath to another country. I was simply saying that from a point of view of citizenship (not eligibility to contest) Atiku was not born a Nigerian and never swore an oath of allegiance to Nigeria and only became a Nigerian by default. |

Deepthoughts: what is the relevance of what you just posted to our discussion? Is Atiku from ALL the parts of Adamawa or his own village? I said he didnt swear an oath of allegiance, you are talking about full rights? if you want to keep redefining the subject as you go along, feel free but dont bother quoring me. |
Re: Dual Citizenship: Senate President, Speaker Risk Losing Seats by Deepthoughts: 8:56pm On Aug 26, 2019 |
isthatso:Apart from those in the security n other employments that may require it,do ordinary citizens just swear to oath of allegiance to the country just like that?,can you prove that Atiku did not swore to the oath of allegiance when he served in the custom service or as a vice president?,look directly speaking even if Atiku's village was formerly in Cameroon, once the plebiscite was conducted those whose areas were needed to Nigeria became full Nigerians like every other Nigerian n vice versa just as it's the case with bakasi, you may not support Atiku but stop spreading false information,I challo you to point out any section in the Constitution that make anyone from the 1961 plebiscite between Nigeria n Cameroun a lesser citizen with limited rights |

Deepthoughts: Like i said please stop quoting me if you want to define the discussion as you go along. If you look at my original post you will see you have gone off course. Atiku is enjoying his money in Emirates hills dubai, I advise you to find something doing with your life and stop dragging topics on internet for days. |
