A US parent living outside the US has 18 years to complete the process of naturalisation, thats a long time. Then there is the group of people who feel all they have to do is get on the plane with their big tummies and deliver in the US, they played the system for long and now want to cry wolf.This is something they cant try anywhere else ,but hey, US is the land of the free cos this laws have been in Europe even the UK for long

Yes. For me it won't affect anything. If you can afford to go US to give birth staying extra 6 weeks to obtain citizenship won't be a problem.

That is not good idea, two American citizens having their child outside US, their child is supposed to be qualified automatically as US citizen if all evidence shows that they are the real owner of the child.

For foreigners giving birth in US, their child should wait till 18 years to qualify, that is the standard in EU.

Nigeria own is the most difficult one and need to amended since you cannot be a Nigerian unless if your parents or grandparents is a Nigerian.

Yes so the parents of that child must file for US citizenship through their embassy before child clocks 18 years old. Likewise for non-citizens in the US, they must stay at least 6 weeks before they can file for child's citizenship.

Basicaly, a child born to American parents in Nigeria is stateless.

Since they don't have US citizenship yet and Nigeria does not give automatic citizenship to people born in Nigeria and their parents or grandparents are not Nigerians
