Nice words! You are correct! The non-indomie generation destroyed the last of the good days before the "Indomie" generation came forth. The Indomie generation hence does not have any reference to when Nigeria was good.
Unfortunately, the term "Indomie Generation" is used mainly by those who grew up at the tail end of the peak of Nigeria's prosperity. The far much older non-indomie generation would never call you "Indomie generation": they would rather call you children.
Those who call you Indomie generation didn't spoil your world but they were privileged to see, partake but not influence they system. In their life span, they saw things collapse to an unbelievable state. Those who call you Indomie generation are the bridge between the Old Nigeria and the New Nigeria. They were the transition generation who experienced both worlds.
Those who destroyed Nigeria are too old to call you INDOMIE. And it isn't your fault anyway: it's only that many Indomie Generation speak with no reference to standards. Very correct. Alot of the privileged people from the pre indomie generation left the country for education and exposure but by the time they were/are ready to return back things weren't/isn't how they left it hence difficulties in settling down thereby forcing them to return abroad. What happened to the so-called aje-butters? They are all scattered around the world. A lot of them sold their inheritance to buy houses abroad and live abroad. Naturally people want better lives for their kids compared to what they had. Imagine growing up in a society where you don't have to worry so much about your kid's safety, education was sound irrespective of its government school or public owned. Health care was manageable but now you will spend arm and leg on hospital bills and still not get healed. The list goes on. We can all play a blame game I. E we blame the generation before us then the generation after us will blame us but the generation post the present one will not blame this present generation but ours and consequent ones. I saw a good society in Nigeria to the extent that when I first travelled to England I wasn't moved because it wasn't so special well it depends on what part of Nigeria one lives in as for me I lived in city centre lagos with all the modern amenities of that time as attained in any society in the world so I'm pained when I look back and compare. I don't want to even bring my children to visit Nigeria because there isn't anything for them to do or partake in unlike back in the day the family clubs were functioning, we went to Apapa amusement Park which was world standard, Bar beach was a blue sea not the dirt it is now, Mr biggs,UTC, leventis, domino etc now we have blooming shoprite and spar and they are extortionate. That Nigeria that a lot of children lived in with their American and British passports, some not even knowing they are born abroad, that Nigeria that we had mixed raced children in our schools because pre 1984 Nigerians abroad always moved back home. That Nigeria is dead and all the natural, superficial and spiritual powers does not have the power of resurrection so there is no resurrection for Nigeria let's just take it out of the morgue and Bury it. They fit millenials, those born between 1981 to 1996. They were the probably the first generation to enjoy noodles.
They were also the first set to encounter the internet - at least in America. They were the first set of teens to experience the internet. A good number are also tchildren of the Baby Boom generation, those born between 1946-1964 like Obama's children

A new generation of children are now growing up, who never tasted any prosperity, who never experienced a bit of Nigeria's prosperity, when it was a bit ok. These ones have lived all their lives between the rock and the hard place.
Education zilch access to public utility zilch entertainment and relaxation zilch Extremely ignorant extremist religion 100%
Only sufferhead upon sufferhead
My fear is, the mass that is growing up with this mentality will be the almajiri of the future. Fully mentally enslaved, they will accept poverty as their divine right. Once they are able to transfer this mentality to their children, conquest is complete, the wasters can rule till eternity. 4 Likes |

It is very simple!!!
Indomie generation entails the following:-
1. A reductant Dad who can't fly his responsibilities of his family to the latter but resort to flindering with side chicks across the niger.
2. A zombie house wife who can't help install the moral ettiquette upon his children but decide to follow Mr P on a ride across the niger.
3. An unemployed nigerian graduate who can't create a niche for himself as to help fly the family name across the globe but resort to blaming Buhari for not employing him or her in the n power initiative.
4. A child who will refuse to eat eba and soup for lunch but resort to settle for indomie instant noodles.

This generation forgive us for our inactions You have loaded it. Those who didn't partake of those experiences can never understand. Most of the Nigerians making waves outside the country now belong to that set of the pre-indomie generation. Nigeria was so good that in my boarding school then, the rich children took flight (it was cheap relatively) and the rest of us took the train. Unfortunately, Nigeria has been reduced to a place of not opportunity for the intelligent or the hard worker. Now, everyone want to be a musician or "actor" or footballer. It seems senseless to want to be a Scientist, Accountant, Economist, Engineer and any other professional vocation. Just look at our graduates and believe you me, you don't want to be like them. It's better to be an Olamide, Reno, Tiwa Savage, Mr P, Naira Marly AND Bob Risky with these so called actors who managed to act minor roles in 2 home videos yet are millionaires. Actually when people refer to any individual as an indomie generation,it means the person is young, naieve and ignorant of WHAT HE SHOULD KNOW OR IS EXPECTED TO KNOW
You know how millennials are.young, dumb, entitled, lazy yet they always think they're smarter than king Solomon.those are what characterize indomie generation
Then again you know indomie is just 2 minutes?,they want to do/have everything fast without taking the patience to go through the process and learn
Bottom line sha is that anyone that has childish behaviour or displays little knowledge of history and it shows is what they call indomie generation.for example if I am discussing with a friend and I say I enjoy the music syncro system and millennials interject and say who sang syncro system or who sang redemption song, or doesn't know that once upon a time in Nigerian history MTN SIM or mobile phones were only used by the elites and mercedes Benz were only used by big boys or rich men's kids to woo girls on campus.i'Il quickly know this one is an indomie generation child ![grin](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/grin.png)

And yes the society was better then because we could leave our kids with neighbors and go to the market without fear of anything.anyone that tries it now,na sorry be him name,we could close our doors without padlocking or fencing it yet nobody will steal our stuffs
We could buy stuffs from market women and drop the money on the wares and whenever the owner of the product comes she will pick her money because people lived with CONTENTMENT AND MODESTY ![grin](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/grin.png)
Those days you could take 100 naira to the market and stock up your kitchen to the brim because food was cheap.eggs were 10 Naira, small coke was 15 Naira and the big one was 25 naira
With 30naira you can enter molue from mile 2 to festac
Festac was a peaceful, tranquil and safe haven before it became a den of pickpockets, armed robbers, kidnappers and Yahoo boys. you can go to a relaxation joint with just 500 naira and buy drinks and pepper soup to your satisfaction even as late as 2am and you are safe.if you walk around festac by 11.54 you will be sorry for yourself.infact by 7pm shop owners are closing when it was even at that time faaji was getting started
Never did I know festac will deteriorate to the level it is now
Those days you will beg, stalk and write several letters before you can manage to see a woman's cleavage.female nudity was rare but now you can meet a girl in tfc,buy her meat pie and in the twinkle of an eye you have bleeped her without much effort
Now men don't have to leave their house before they order for vagina online and the vagina will be brought to their doorsteps with just online booking
Millennials,I hope you can now understand why the older generation are irritated with your ways and lifestyle of how you do your things.not that the older generation were saints or perfect but they do things with tact and discretion.now no single taste again

Even club girls those days had to be begged for several months or sometimes years to see the colour of her pant but these days even church girls,to enter her pant no go reach 2weeks

dangotesmummy: E pain am sotey he go research about the history of infomie ![grin](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/grin.png)
One of the indomie generation child is below me.he just proved my point aptly of the reasoning and characteristics of an indomie generation ![grin](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/grin.png)
We also went to night club.they call one of the night clubs 11.45.i don't know whether it's still being operated? Even in the club they were sexy in our own standard of sexy then o but not naked or in colourful rags and bogus wigs and heinous make-up ![grin](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/grin.png)
Those days you could put rice of 20naira and egg 10naira into the flask of a child to school but now it is indomie they put in their food flask to school
You need to watch music videos of the 80s and 90s then compare it with the olamides, davido, dammy Krane, tiwa savage etc, then you'll understand my point and the level of deterioration
Even club girls those days had to be begged for several months or sometimes years to see the colour of her pant but these days even church girls,to enter her pant no go reach 2weeks
Then by 10pm TV station closed.it was just nta we had it will show different colours of lines before it closes and the TV shows were edifying not the ones kids cannot even watch.millenials don't even know the difference between family soap operas/family drama and soft porn
All our own entertainment didn't pass
Everyday people Family circle Super story Passion Second chance Gardner's daughter Secret of the sand And nta news.but now go to MTV naked video vixens, trace, naked women, everywhere nudity and sex
Also teenagers getting pregnant was a serious abomination, they were ostracized and the parents shamed so parents really monitored their kids till they got to university.its not like now ss2 boy will be fucking jss3 girl inside the school toilet or at the back of principals office ![grin](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/grin.png)
Meanwhile the poster below me makes me laugh ![grin](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/grin.png)
If you want to recreate the old times, you can go and buy egg for 10 Naira or tell conductor you are going to mile two from agboju bustop.when you get into the bus, give him 30 naira and come back and tell me your experience ![wink](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/wink.png)
You can go to idumota and buy 6yards of original hollandise material for 1500 naira ![wink](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/wink.png) You can do night party in ikorodu and stay there with your friends throughout the night, them come back to share your experiences
You can spend 3 thousand naira to do a big parlour birthday party with your friends Take your kids to amusement park in Ikeja and buy candy floss for them 150 naira
Go to the saloon and do washing and setting for 150 naira ![wink](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/wink.png)
You can enter a cab from mile2 to idumota for 2 thousand naira ![wink](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/wink.png)
You can make Sunday rice and stew for 200naira that will feed the entire family and church visitors ![wink](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/wink.png)
You can buy expression attachment for 350naira and braid it for 700 naira ![wink](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/wink.png) You can buy chewing gum for 3 ....2 naira,50kobo
You can buy pink oil for 70naira ![wink](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/wink.png) Talking about music, the millennials have zero taste , power, substance and lyrics when it comes to music.nothing to gain, inspire or provoke deep thoughts from music like back in the days.their song no pass your bombom is driving me crazy, idi Araba, epon todun ,o'ndomilataro komajekinsun. ![grin](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/grin.png)
No let me open Una Yash finish o ![grin](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/grin.png)
That's just a taste of the iceberg,no put hand for my mouth o ![grin](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/grin.png) Na so, you have said it all. Nothing to add again Those days were happy days. Sometimes when am in a bad place, I just reminisce to those times, then the smile return back to ma face. It was a good period. Now those days are gone ![cry](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/cry.gif) |

pocohantas: I have (always) noticed this trend of being called indomie generation when one is (totally) clueless on some “historical” subject.
I like to think I am old enough to be old, yet I still have some friends and colleagues calling me Indomie generation. ![undecided](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/undecided.png)
Suffice to say, Indomie is 31YEARS OLD IN NIGERIA.
So, what exactly makes one an indomie generation? So many things make you indomie generation because you cannot relate with a lot of the things that happened in the 80s when television broadcasting became more popular in Nigeria. Though some ran through early nineties, they stopped almost around that period so? ? Now do you know the following snacks Rockies Gowon finger Oyon malu Balewa Supreme ice cream Gogo Or the following cartoons Teddy rockspin Ovid and the gang ( though this was early nineties) Sesame street Fragle rocks Bird man Danger mouse So many more Or movies like Simon templer Jake and the fat man Robin hood Cock row at dawn ( didn't understand it then) Things fall apart Tele movies then very scary movies with sadiq daba and hawa( not her real name gobadia or so) Second chance Pot of life Amiwu These were movies that kept the land of Nigeria sane those days and not what we have now that even cartoon show sex movies. Men... I miss the generation of those days. I'm not old abeg. Nobody should come and start calculating one number that is just mere figures. I'm still young and very attractive |

You are an intelligent person, I love your succinct and precise reply. liberalchick: Yea, it debuted in 1988 but it didn’t catch on till the 90s. By the mid 90s, Nigerian parents were feeding their kids indomie. The Indomie generation upper limit should be about 20-22y so basically generation Z depending on which stat you use.
The Indomie generation have little to no reference pre 2000s. Nigeria and the world changed a lot after the 90s. I think most older generation Nigerians feel some topics need a good pre 2000s knowledge. E.g. Indomie generation don’t know a Nigeria under the military rule, can’t remember Nigeria without the internet, cell phones, writing and posting letters etc.
Also, it’s just the typical generational war. Previous generations always bash their successors. For instance, on a global scale millennials are being shit on constantly by previous generations. 4 Likes |
