When I told some Nigerian fools living in the USA that Trump is a crazy man with a serious anti-immigration agenda, they laughed at me. They said that Trump.os their man. They love him because he is anti abortion and he is bringing christianity back to USA.

Well, today, I have the last laugh. Trump has succeeded in deporting some of their family members and also making it hard for some of their friends to get Visa to visit them.


Now, here in London, Nigerians who dont even have permanent stay, not to talk of UK passport are hustling and making it.

Some on just spousal Visa are working hard and making it in the UK.


As for me, when I finish sipping my British tea, I'll return to Nigeria to continue my hustle.

While the policy is not good due to impact on permanent residents in the armed forces and other government roles that require them to be abroad, it has nothing to do with Nigerians specifically. Also naturalized citizens are not affected - you get American Citizenship either by been born in the USA or if your parents are Citizens. This does not change that.

Chairman of the movement Prof. Apollos Nwauwa made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

A policy alert released on Wednesday by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services disclosed the Trump administration’s plan to make it more difficult for the children of some U.S. service members and U.S. government employees living abroad to automatically become U.S. citizens.

The rule appears to primarily affect the children of naturalised U.S. citizens serving in the armed forces, who have not lived in the U.S. for a required period of time, a relatively small number — estimated to be approximately 100 annually, according to a Defense Department official.

It does not impact anyone born in the U.S.

U.S. citizenship can be acquired a few ways, including being born in the country.

Children born abroad can acquire citizenship through their U.S. citizen parents either at birth or before the age of 18.

While the latest policy guidance does not make anyone ineligible for citizenship, it appears to narrow how children abroad can gain citizenship.

Trump has occasionally voiced his support for ending birthright citizenship and said last week that he was “seriously” considering ending it, though it is unclear how he would have the legal authority to do so.

This is because an Executive Order alone is not enough to make him have his way. Only a constitutional amendment can make the president have his way where ending birthright citizenship is concerned.

Acting USCIS Director Ken Cuccinelli said on Twitter that the new policy “does NOT impact birthright citizenship.”

Still, the policy, which takes effect on Oct. 29, sparked confusion among military and diplomatic groups who immediately denounced the alert.

The groups became concerned that the rule change would place hurdles before children of federal employees and military workers serving abroad.

According to Nwauwa, Nigerians in the U.S. are of significant value to the U.S, given that they constitute a large part of the human resource base of that country.

”There is hardly any American agency or parastatal that has no Nigerian working in its upper echelons.

“Since only citizens are permitted to work in sensitive and lucrative positions, over time, this policy will reduce the number of Nigerians in strategic professional positions in the U.S., ” he said.

He further said that the policy of restrictive citizenship would reduce the huge amount of remittances made by Nigerians living in the U.S. to the country’s revenue sources.

“Unquestionably, the long-term goal of the Trump administration is to reduce to the barest minimum the number of immigrants in his country.

“The policy will only briefly affect Nigerians visiting the U.S. to have babies.


”It will also have implications for American servicemen, business people, members of the diplomatic corps as well as others, who live outside the U.S. with their families.

“Nigerians who also have U.S. citizenship will be affected the most because their children born in their country of birth after they had become U.S. citizens by naturalisation, will not be granted citizenship.

“Trump’s administration is determined to change the U.S. immigration landscape once and for all,” he said.

but i hope people realise that it is not by force to go to the USA and that the USA is not the only country where you can make it.

It makes no sense for everybody to want to run away from their country and head to one particular country because they see it as paradise. If the USA did not work and suffer to make their country great, people won't be running there to live. Other countries should put in effort in building their nation by holding their leaders accountable.
Nigerians should learn to tackle their leaders and ensure they provide basic amenities. Hold your leaders responsible to make them build quality schools and invest in education, invest in health care to make sure it is very affordable, construct standard roads and make transportation affordable, invest in agriculture to ensure food is available for Nigerians, ensure steady power suply these are basic things government needs to put in place and then the private sector can take care of the rest. People won't need to be running away from the country because of hardship.

Man's basic needs are affordable food(most important), shelter(no matter how small), quality healthcare, education, power supply, cheap transporttation....other things will be luxury. If people have access to these things and are still complaining maybe because they cannot afford a car or gucci and prada, that is their problem and greed. But government must be forced to play their role and the only way to have them do that especially in Nigeria is to start breaking the heads of those politicians who refuse to perform anywhere we see them. They must be able to explain to nigerians how they spend money generated and show us what they have done every month. anyone that refuses to show us projects with facts and receipts must know that he or she is not safe anywhere they go whether they have policemen protecting them or not. Once they realise this, they will seat up.

IF you are a US citizen (either naturalized or natural born) and give birth to a child overseas, you have to prove that you have been resident in the USA at least 5 years prior to the child delivery and evidence that you were paying taxes too - and that you are a US citizen when that child was born to confer citizen on that child. it is called CRBA - Consular Report of Birth Abroad. Go and read what their requirements are, these were not laws made by Trump. They have been in existence for ages. Also, do you know "U dont have to be a US citizen to serve in the US military?" Yes - some people went to war for the US, wore the uniform and last last they were still deported back to the shit hole countries they came from - So if these non-citizen soldiers or military personnel serving abroad give birth in a US military base overseas, their kids are still not US citizens- these are the people Trump most likely is talking about - you people stop twisting facts on nairaland.
