I would like to apply again but I'm resuming school this month and my next holiday is in December so I can't go for that holiday anymore till the next one during summer, next year June. My mum told me she knows someone in the US(she didn't tell me before because she thought it wasn't useful). I also know the lady because she usually comes to visit my mum but all of a sudden she stopped coming and I was young then, I didn't know the reason but my mum just told me is because she won the US lottery visa We have contacted her and she wants to invite me but I don't know if I should agree.. In my first application I stated that I don't know anyone in US, can I change that in my new application that I know someone. |

Sasorah: If you dont have a strong reason for going to USA, you can visit other countries for holiday. 2 Likes |

Sasorah: You are a student, single and it’s likely you have no solid source of income but wanting to visit the U.S is probably why you were denied — has nothing to do with your stamps. By the way, stamps from either of the countries you mentioned are worthless; it’s akin to someone in Ghana having a Nigerian stamp on their passport. It’s nothing special in V.O’s eyes. As others have suggested: if you don’t have a good enough reason to travel Stateside, there are a ton of other places you can visit (and enjoy just as much) for vacation if you have to travel. 3 Likes |

Sasorah: I mean if you plan to stamp your passport in any of the mentioned countries, make sure you go, do it yourself, familiarize yourself with the country(ies) as the case may be and not just send your passport there to be stamp for you in the boarder. |

wuki: Thank you for this prompt reply....There are two applicants and the primary applicant (Dad) has already been interviewed and granted a visa. The challenge now is when I go back to the appointment page to reschedule that of Mum...where do I start from, I have attempted updating the existing profile which only shows Dad's info. However on the appointment history page it has Dad and Mum's name in there with their receipt and UID numbers. Looking forward to helpful replies. Thank you |

Distinct05: I understand what you’re saying. Have you tried creating a separate appointment account just for your mom? You made the appointment via your dad’s account so not much you can do there. 1 Like |

sirgigs: 10days is OK for someone that earns a very good salary. Or going to an event. Clearly not for vacation to the US especially a first timer. 1 Like |

Hello guys please I'm a silent reader for a every long time, I applied last year and I want to renew now, but I cant remember my security answer anymore to my DS160 form, I have been trying to retrieve my old application form, the place it was written down I misplace the diary , can anyone tell me how I can go about this,, thanks.. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by wuki: 12:52am On Sep 02, 2019 |
Distinct05: Yes - that’s what I'm saying. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by wuki: 12:55am On Sep 02, 2019 |
basetool: There's no way around this - if you can't find your personal security answer or remember it, it's gone forever. One advise I often give to my clients is to always save a downloaded copy of the application because of situations like these. That way even if you loose access to your profile you have the data saved somewhere. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by emily111: 1:00am On Sep 02, 2019 |
basetool: If you have your copy of the past applicant you can use that in filling a new form you don’t need to be worried |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by flourishing247: 6:36am On Sep 02, 2019 |
basetool: If you applied last year, why do you want to renew now? Or it wasn't a multiple. You can only access your profile page. Go through your last year's documents, you might find it 2 Likes |

samobaba4u: Uhm I did it myself, I clearly stated that i went to Benin Republic for studies(I school there and my passport was stamped when I passed the border last year) And my school took us for excursion in Ghana. I just wanted to know if I can change the answer to the question in my DS160 form ( do you know anyone in the US) to yes |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by groovychik(f): 7:05am On Sep 02, 2019 |
Knowing someone in the US is neither an advantage nor a disadvantage. It wouldn't have changed the outcome of your interview so stick to what you have on your form already. Like people here have stated, build your travel history. Visit other vacation spots, then reapply. Sasorah: |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by helpee(m): 7:28am On Sep 02, 2019 |
Sasorah:you really assumed a Yes answer to this question would work in your favour. Either way, it won't. If you answered no as a student, why would you want to vacate in America without knowing anybody there and it is your very first vacation? You will spend thousands of dollars as a student just to go and sightsee alone America when you are not working and it is not as if you are going to visit someone that is close to you. On the other hand, if you say yes, the VO may also assume the person will help you to stay illegally since the person knows about the system and you have nothing to lose...you can abadon your studies and start afresh. If God help you and the person also got to America first with a visit visa before changing status, na automatic denial. Bottom line, the answer to that question will not change the outcome whichever way you answered it. You have no ties. No job, no wife, no family yet you are going on vacation in far away America as a student . Start small...and build it up. If vacation is really your aim, start with Mauritius, South Africa, Kenya. Even if you also plan to elope which is not advisable, there is still no short cut given your circumstances. Don't waste your money to reapply soon without travelling elsewhere first. You will likely be denied again. 3 Likes |

helpee: Thank you, but is it a bad thing that my choice is US? Anyway if that's how it is I'll go elsewhere when I find somewhere I'd 'like' to visit, also my mum is sponsoring me. |

groovychik: Alright, thank you |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by helpee(m): 8:53am On Sep 02, 2019 |
Sasorah:Not at all bros. Unfortunately, if you ask 10 people their choice too , eight of them will say America is their choice. Since they can't accommodate everyone and since on a chance of probability, almost 30 percent of people on tourist visa will try to game the system and not return, they have no choice than to allow people with reasonable chance of returning. Between you and I, you know deep down that the only reason your mum is sending you on vacation to America is not just for fun...it is to prepare ground for your eventual immigration. But imagine if you are earning say 500k in Nigeria. It is not much but unless you get a good offer in America you won't just run away like that without thinking twice. Also, imagine if you have travelled to UK you didn't run away. You went to Germany you didn't run away...while it is not foolproof, at least you are not absolutely desperate else you would have abused the visa. So it is not fair that the VO will say why America first. But in your case... it is a very relevant question. Your mum may not want to waste money to send you to Mauritius cos you know it is a dead end but if you go....it means you really want to vacate and not to run away. That is the way it works. If you really want to go on vacation and the money is available truly for fun, if they deny you American visa, you go to Seychelles island. Going back to reapply immediately especially when you know nobody in America shows the intention is not vacation. So take the advice and go elsewhere first. 12 Likes |

Hello, I need more understanding on this logic. How does 10 days stays okay for who earns well and more days for the not to fat salary earner? I need understand the logic because in terms of cost who will be spending more between who stays for 10 days or 21 days for example. I am curious. flourishing247: |
