Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Tuesday, said that the green chamber may reconvene for one day to address the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other foreigners in South Africa.
He said that he would be cutting short his trip to Tanzania, where he is attending the 50th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Africa Region) conference holding in Zanzibar.

On his verified Twitter handle, he said that he would be meeting with the leadership of the House upon his return, where they would take the decision to reconvene the House to address the issue of xenophobic attacks.
He said, “Will be cutting short my trip to Tanzania for the 50th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference @CPA_Secretariat and will be leaving today, for the leadership of the @HouseNGR to consider cutting short the recess and reconvening for one day to address the killings of Nigerians in SA.”

Nigerians and other foreigners in South Africa have been the targets of attacks since last week when a taxi driver was killed by an alleged drug peddler in Pretoria.

Foreign-owned businesses have been looted and burnt in different parts of the country.

As of Monday, three persons had already been killed while one person was in the hospital being treated for smoke inhalation.

The South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Bobby Moroe, had been invited by the Minister of Foreign Affairs for a meeting over the attacks.

Upon his return? Like before then, others cannot find a way to save our fellow brothers from what they are facing over there presently?

This country is messed up!

Nonsense

If we sharpen our minds and look critically we will see that Xenophobia against Nigerians in South Africa is another fallout of the bad governance that has plagued Nigerians for so so long ..Its annoying to see the Nigerian govt summoning the South African High commissioner over a matter that the Nigerian govt actually caused one way or the other .

Nigerian govt has made life practically unvearable and hopeless for it's people to the extent that there is mass survival driven migration of Nigerians to other climes. Nigeria given its land mass , natural resources and great population should naturally be the king of Africa but our wicked govt has made this impossible with their lack of vision and their evil greed that's has chased Nigeria to climes with less potential to live and struggle as unwanted visitors .

You think the south Africans don't see as our govt allows imported Fulanis Terrorists to kill Nigerians in their thousands and do nothing .

You think south Africans don't how our govt leaves us without electricity , roads and water yet we accept it

Our govt has made people of lesser climes in Africa to look at us Nigerians as vermin's because the Nigerian govt actually treats it's people worse than vermin.

I make bold to say the buck stops at Nigerian govt table and please we should stop blaming the south Africans ..Americans commit more crimes outside their country than any other country but do you see how they treated with dignity all the time because ever county knows the American govt value their people ..

Please leave ShopRite , MTN , DSTV alone and face your wicked failed govt which caused all these in the first place .

Very Good Development.....
Good way to start......

It’s time for serious reprisal action by Nigeria over the killing of our nationals in South Africa. That’s the national interest that should guide all our foreign relations!

Even though two worngs do nor make a right, but at this time,
Some strategic interest of South Africa in Nigeria should be squeezed.

Stop tweeting #saynotoxenophibia that's pure rubbish. They already knew what they're doing is evil and they're doing it anyway and all we do here is rant on Twitter. A serious president would've declared war on South Africa by now. I watched those videos, that's clearly an act of war. Why have troops not been sent to South Africa by now?
