hey guys I know this might not be the right place or time to post this, but this thing is eating me up and I need help..i have been having problems solving some questions particularly on Equilibrium of forces, normally I know we are to resolve into the vertical and horizontal components using fy= sin@ and fx = cos @ . but i came acroos some questions particularly in the lamlad textbook(page 29 and question 1,2,and3) they resolved the vertical into fy= cos@ and horizontal into fx= sin@ ...i have been truing to understand the reason this was done but i just dont get it... please i need someone to enlighten me with a thorough explanation. |
Re: University of Ibadan 2019/2020 Admission Thread by Hardebaryor(m): 5:31pm On Sep 06, 2019 |
BRYAN999:I wish to help you but I'm not good at explanations Lemme try If the angle you are given say titre is inclined to the horizontal, then horizontal component is fcos titre and vertical component is fsin titre. But if the angle is inclined with the vertical then it becomes the opposite that is horizontal component is fsin titre and vertical component is fcos titre. In order not to confuse yourself, when you are given an angle that is inclined to the vertical, subtract it from 90 degrees (let's the answer you got after subtracting is alpha)then you use the horizontal component as fcos alpha and vertical components as sin alpha. I hope this is clear Note: there is a better way to solve those questions |

Re: University of Ibadan 2019/2020 Admission Thread by farady(m): 2:08pm On Sep 07, 2019 |
Johnwick64: Basically, the O level requirement is credits in 5 subjects including English language and mathematics. So the three other subjects must naturally be subjects very relevant and related to the course of study. Therefore the three other subjects should be physics, chemistry and biology. So even with a fail in Further Mathematics but with passes in the 5 subjects listed above, you can study petroleum engineering. |
