Not at all bros. Unfortunately, if you ask 10 people their choice too , eight of them will say America is their choice. Since they can't accommodate everyone and since on a chance of probability, almost 30 percent of people on tourist visa will try to game the system and not return, they have no choice than to allow people with reasonable chance of returning. Between you and I, you know deep down that the only reason your mum is sending you on vacation to America is not just for fun...it is to prepare ground for your eventual immigration. But imagine if you are earning say 500k in Nigeria. It is not much but unless you get a good offer in America you won't just run away like that without thinking twice. Also, imagine if you have travelled to UK you didn't run away. You went to Germany you didn't run away...while it is not foolproof, at least you are not absolutely desperate else you would have abused the visa. So it is not fair that the VO will say why America first. But in your case... it is a very relevant question. Your mum may not want to waste money to send you to Mauritius cos you know it is a dead end but if you go....it means you really want to vacate and not to run away. That is the way it works. If you really want to go on vacation and the money is available truly for fun, if they deny you American visa, you go to Seychelles island. Going back to reapply immediately especially when you know nobody in America shows the intention is not vacation. So take the advice and go elsewhere first.
Well said buddy, Na jappa things, it is written all over the post of the person you are advising, the VO's are smart enough to see and smell jappa candidates, obtaining the US visa 3 or 4 years ago as a Nigerian from Nigeria was much easier compared to now, without good income, solid travel history, assets, investment, married with kids etc it is a colossal waste of money to apply for the US visa and coupled with the recent FBI raid on some Nigerians engaged in fraud which puts the country on a negative radar, if you don't have serious reasons with all l mentioned above, avoid the US EMBASSY or else, dem go continue to use your visa fees to drink hot coffee, bacon and bagel grin

I'm working with a couple applying for tourist visa. They both have an appointment already. However, after reviewing their documents, I noticed that the primary applicant has Abuja as the designated post on the DS160 form while the other is designated in Lagos. Both of them are interviewing together in Lagos. This might be a problem. Has anyone successfully been able to get the consulate to change their DS160 post prior to interview date? Of course the reason I ask is to avoid having the applicant fill a new DS160, update it on the appointment system and reschedule considering the difficulty in securing dates right now. I simply want to hear from those who might have succeeded in having NIV make appropriate changes to the designated post on the form DS160. Back in the day, I know you could call Consular services to make these sort of changes; not sure if this is still the case.

Please Gurus in the house! My good friend need your advice. She is planning to attend a workshop in October but after paying for B1 Visa fee, she realised that the first available appointment date is in December.
If she choose December, the workshop would have ended and there will be no need for it. Also her invitation says the workshop will hold between October 30 to November

Please is there a way around this, kindly advice. Thank you very much for your input and advice

AFAIK, this has been going on since the Obama era - this isn't new. A client of mine tried to be cleaver by half back in 2015: just before flying, he backed up his phone and wiped the whole thing (only leaving his contacts and some basic info/apps.) Problem is: he wasn't so fortunate at the port of entry and was asked to login to his Facebook/social media accounts. So yeah, it's advised to exercise caution with your digital footprint when traveling overseas. Having a visa is no guarantee for admissability.

Yes - that’s what I'm saying.

Thank you I reached out to the embassy yesterday via phone and I was asked to send in her passport details to support-nigeria@ustraveldocs.com, the payment receipt and the turn-back letter. They helped update her profile and now I am good to go. I appreciate your efforts and prompt reply @ ALL.

God bless.

Everybody has a right to express their opinion online and publicly.
Providing social media details on DS 160 form is not compulsory there is an option to select None.
I don’t know about others, but based on my experience only very minute amount of travelers get turned back at the port of entry depending on the individual case.

Caution about what?
If your hands are clean and your intentions are good there will be no need to go through the stress of wiping out all information from your phone.
People that fall into this trap are usually unnecessarily nervous at the port of entry then they end up in CBP secondary questioning.

It's not just a matter of having clean hands. You could still be denied entry for stuff on your phone or social media account that has nothing to do with you. It's fair to say the folks mentioned in the report had "clean hands"; however, they were still deported. If the guy with the disturbing photo knew ahead of time he'd be deported over a photo that was sent to him on Whatsapp, guess what he'd have done? Your guess is as good as mine. A word is enough for the wise.

By the way, the guy I mentioned in my earlier post still clears his phone whenever he comes over here to the U.S out of an abundance of caution. Different stroke for different folks. I wasn't suggesting that folks delete their phones but my point is: whatever it takes to minimize the chances of entry denial is in one's best interest.

Ugh shocked! How's @the bolded to work please? I actually can't see it. It's only the CGI crew that can solve this to the best of my understanding. This is the reason I always say a profile should be created for each applicant irrespective of age. If she had her profile, it would have just been a walkover correcting this issue with making calls or sending mails....

You are to go with it, #40,700, once you are approved, you will have to pay the money immediately at the embassy.
