There have been reports that the presidents of Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Malawi have pulled out of the World Econonic Forum Africa event holding in South Africa because of the xenophobic attacks going on in the country.

However, a Rwandan Government official has denied these reports. She stated that President Paul Kagame of Rwanda is unable to attend the event, but this has nothing to do with the xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The president is obviously trying to be diplomatic.

Kegame always had a shaky relationship with the South African authorities ever since the Rawandan secret police were accused of murdering a Rawandan opposition leader in Joburg a few years back.

Bad news to those always looking for every opportunity to diss the president who is also not helping matters with his communication style.

Na wa. Nigeria is solely on its own. Well, we will stand on our own. Hope our leaders borrow some sense with this situation on ground.

A government that cannot develop its own country, begs for aid up and down, cannot protect its citizens, cannot act when it should, is that a government? No one has any respect for Nigeria any longer in the comity of nations.

It turns out that President Kagame cancelled his visit BEFORE the xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

WEF surprised by reports of African leaders' boycotting event

Wednesday 4 September 2019 - 10:16am

JOHANNESBURG - The World Economic Forum (WEF) says it is unable to confirm that several African leaders are boycotting its meeting in Cape Town over recent violent protests and attacks on foreign nationals.

Reports have emerged that the presidents of the DRC, Malawi and Rwanda will not be heading to the event.

It has also been said that other African nations will also boycott the event due to the recent attacks on African nationals in Gauteng.

The World Economic Forum's Elsie Kanza said she was surprised to hear about reports of boycotting.

"One of the leaders - Rwanda - unfortunately had to cancel his participation last week, before the very unfortunate events [violent protests].

"The World Economic Forum and the South African government teams have been following up on the delegations from the DRC and Malawi, because while they indicated that they would be participating they never completed their registration."

President Cyril Ramaphosa will lead South Africa's delegation, accompanied by his deputy, David Mabuza, Finance Minister Tito Mboweni, Trade and Industry Minister Ebrahim Patel, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, and Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan.

More than a thousand regional and global leaders from politics, business, civil society and academia will discuss Africa's way forward.

This year's theme is Shaping Inclusive Growth and Shared Futures in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Five people have been killed in violence across Gauteng.

Two people were shot dead in Coronationville on Tuesday. On Monday, a man died after being shot during the chaos in Hillbrow.

Foreign-owned shops have been looted across Gauteng and dozens of people are behind bars.

Foreign nationals are under siege in areas including Kempton Park, Crosby, Turffontein and the Johannesburg CBD.

Police Minister Bheki Cele insists they're doing all they can to put an end to the violence.

Nigerians have carried their fake propaganda 'NEWS' to the world stage.

They must think the World Economic Forum is the Durban Music Festival politicians should be boycotting.

Such is the problem.

They support who they want while you also have your own choice.

But they insult you to your forefathers for having an opinion different from theirs. Or in some cases, label you a paid agent.

Dear mod,

This is not fair.

My report came earlier since 10 a.m but suppressed

How come an 11 a.m report is making FP?

Is this not inhumane?

Please act accordingly.

Thank you.
