Their govt aren't any smarter, the contract says protection of each others business in both country, SA govt has failed to protect Nigeria businesses in their country so they have broken the contract already. Nigeria govt can go ahead n do anything but i know Nigeria govt is weak so am not expecting anything from them.

Even if we call for nationalization from now till tomorrow, they won't do it because of their stolen wealth businesses that are in South Africa. How do you think, thisday newspaper is getting their hands on this piece of news if not from them. It is like saying, we would have loved to nationalize their assets but we can't because of d signed documents. Even this documents could have been drafted n signed this week self. Who nor know our politicians

If that is the case, we should send their investment packing, while we force our looters to have that kind of investments in Nigeria or face serious jail time.

We have leaders that can have those investment even better ones here in Nigeria but they choose to keep the money under their beds

The problem of this country is our so called leaders

No part in the agreement dictates that Nigerians MUST reside and do business in south africa after all south african are doing business here in Nigeria but majority of their citizens dont live here.

No part of the agreement dictates that Nigerians MUST patronise south african business here in Nigeria especially now that they are killing and looting Nigerian businesses.
No part of the agreement dictates that Nigerians and their businesses MUST be protected against xenophobic attack by their sick south african host.

When Nigerians boycott south african business it is only them that will waka come and beg Nigerian government to take over.
Bunch of ideot and sick south africans

Any agreement can be broken... that's why it's an agreement.

Or did the agreement permit killing Nigerians?

FG should seize about 2% of SA firms profits and put it in an escrow account to pay damages and compensations in case of such attacks. After every 5 years, the monies can be returned to the companies while a new batch of profits are held down.
Flesh & blood did not reveal this to you.

This agreement is null

South Africa has broken the agreement, we are not bound to keep it too.

If they sue us, we should counter sue them.

Did South African Government protect Nigerian investments in South Africa. The answer is obviously "No". I think the agreement has been violated already by the SA Government.

Nationalization of the assets of South Africa in Nigeria is a regretable but possible option. We must hold South Africa government responsible for their actions and inaction.

Yet mr mumu oshiomole and several ignorant folks were calling for nationalization. This is not 1981
It could be argued South Africa broke that clause when they allowed Nigerian businesses to be looted. No one keep clause when there are disagreement like this. We can even pullout or suspend any agreement with South Africa

Bellotelli:
In Article 5, titled “Compensation for Losses”, the conditions are even more instructive.
It states: “Investors of one party whose investments in the territory of the other party suffer losses owing to war or other armed conflict, revolution, a state of national emergency, revolt, insurrection or riot in the territory of the latter party shall be accorded by the latter party treatment, as regards restitution,
indemnification, compensation or other settlement, not less favourable than that which the latter party accords to its own investors or to investors of any third state.

From the above, all Nigerians affected in South Africa also deserve compensation. If South African govt refused to effect this, it also means that the Nigerian govt can also violate the agreement.
Exactly, the terms and conditons of that agreement is very clear.

But another problem is that if we nationalize MTN, in less than 2 years they will die like Nitel.
DStv will be worse than NTA
Shoprite will become Mammy market

But we don't need to nationalise these businesses rather...the government can initiate stringent measures...that will make these businesses fizzle out...

I feel in terms of business, SA benefits more from Nigeria...Nigeria should borrow a life from President Trump on the Trade war going on between USA and China.
