Wrong place to ask a question.
Someone will ask a question and people will come on the thread and start fighting over something else entirely

Omojudy:
Hard and long.
March last year I applied in Lagos. Ministry of women affairs I think?
They are supposed to approve then you go to the orphanage of your choice where you probably have visited before and had a choice child. The fee ought to be in the “legal” range of 300k.

I kept following up every month until one day the lady told me they hadn’t still treated the applicants of the previous year. That I will receive a call when they get to my turn. Well that call has still not come, and I didn’t want to use connection to do an adoption. I believed if it’s the way I am to have my child, I won’t need to do connection for it.

Well I decided to do a surrogacy in the meantime and God has been faithful! I bless him for it.

Thanks for your reasonable response.
I wonder what sort of joy people derive by giving responses that belittle rather than offer help

Hi, please do you know the process if the adoptive parents are planning to take the child out of Nigeria?

Thank you.

sinaj:
you have to be above 40years, if you are below 40, you must present a genuine reason like health issue with recognised hospital report, having grown up kids and other serious issues.

You will present Bank reports, and your account balance has to be healthy wink

You will submit your passports, the originals but it will be returned back to you.

You must have properties too, like a land or house.

Lastly you will need referees, civil servants from level 10 and above.

You will swear afidavits too.

I hope this will help you.

I do know its a very difficult process, at least in Lagos.

I guess its made so because of those that might want to adopt children for other evil reasons.

The successful story I heared the children have been adopted for over 12 years now and they were not babies as at the time of adoption ( the elder one is serving now) and even as at that time it was not easy.

The adoption process in Nigeria is extremely frustrating and discouraging

And it's not as if the government is taking adequate care of them.

that's the most painful part

I knew this guy that ran an orphanage, when he told me how strenous the entire process is, I was so pissed. Thousands of kids need parents, and they are hogging them under terrible conditions

I understand the need to protect the kids, to make sure they don't end up with abusive parents or even ritualists, so, they have to take extra precautions

You wont be allowed to leave the country with the child immediately for at least 1year coz you would be under watch

The government is actually trying, well I dont know about other states, but Akwa Ibom and Rivers are actually trying.

They feed the kids well and they go to nice schools too. Clothing and toiletries isnt a problem too coz they got excess of it.

I will suggest you liaise with the Ministry of Women Affairs, your nearest Motherless Babies home and your local government. The adoption process is strict, bureautic, stressful and intrusive and rightly so for the safety and welfare of the children.
Adoption is beautiful and should be encouraged. There are kids out there who deserve a loving family. Depends also on what country you plan to emigrate to because each country has different regulations and laws. Nigeria became non designated a few years ago and there are so many hurdles to jump but it is possible. Simply put you cannot just get a passport and visa and then leave with the child. The immigration process is another long and expensive process as well. Get a good lawyer because all the relevant documents and paperwork will be scrutinised by the relevant bodies with a fine tooth comb. Also do you own research and I do not think Nairaland is the best place at the moment due to the over popularity of insensitive idiots or trolls looking for cheap likes. There are alot of good online websites for research. The entire process is quite expensive and I wish you success. It is a beautiful thing you are considering and I salute you. God bless.
