Elvis Chidera, Village boy now a Global Programmer by hackman90: 5:31pm On Sep 06, 2019 |
Hello, Everybody after being away for a long time i decided to seek for help concerning a software project that i was to embark on so a young boy who i used to know 6years ago on nairaland came to my mind.Due to the fact that i could not remember his moniker i felt the need to search for him on google because i wasn't really clear about his nairaland moniker spelling so i searched for "Elvis Chidera" on google and what came up really got me amazed for those who knew how the little boy started should be happy also like i am.So today i took it upon myself to create an article of what i saw concerning this controversial passionate teenage programmer who started programming at the age of 11..He was always coming here to seek for financial assistance concerning his passion which was coding/robotics in which he got bashed concerning his identity(age) and also for being a fraud. Here are posts on him for those of you that were active in the programming, webmaster, computer thread as at 2013/2014 that might have forgotten whom Elvis is: https://www.nairaland.com/1341883/elvis-chidera-14-year-old-nigerian-programmer https://www.nairaland.com/1339891/14-year-old-nigerian-bulk-sms-app https://www.nairaland.com/1340886/lessons-learned-elvis-scam-saga https://www.nairaland.com/2097443/build-ecommerce-android-app while some encouraged him because he spoke and took decisions like an adult at that tender age(14) even a fellow nairaland programmer(Graphics plus) had to go a bit further to verify his identity for nairaland doubters. He is the Founder of the Xmx.me app developed in J2ME sdk app which he built with a nokia 2690 gifted to him by his cousin. He also caught the attention of Seun Osewa who is the founder of Nairaland and Seun's words to him goes thus "When you are done with school(SSS3) i might consider employing you as a startup programmer".But all thanks to Seun and those who encouraged/Sponsored him and to those who discouraged him.He is now in the spotlight and being interviewed on different platforms across the Globe and all Grown up. Moral Lesson:While on the path of pursuing your dreams/destiny stones would be thrown at you what you have to do is to pick them up and continue the race till you get there and watch those same people comeback to congratulate you-Hackman Here are is interview posts: https://medium.com/@elvischidera/responses https://techcabal.com/2015/02/02/yet-another-nairaland-redesigner-time-mobile-app/ https://aitoehigie./2013/01/28/how-i-hacked-up-a-nairaland-api-and-got-banned/ http://elvischidera..com/2013/09/how-to-use-nairaland-api-part-1.html https://edition.cnn.com/2018/01/12/africa/rural-nigeria-lagos-mit-startup/index.html?utm_source=fbCNNi&utm_campaign=africa&utm_medium=social https://twitter.com/Google/status/1047942837499834370 http://legit.ng/1162646-from-village-boy-epicenter-west-africas-tech-boom-meet-19-year-nigerian-developer-elvis-chidera.html https://web.facebook.com/CNNAfrica/posts/elvis-chideras-story-from-village-boy-with-nothing-but-a-basic-nokia-2690-phone-/2026839623999661/?_rdc=1&_rdr https://www.freecodecamp.org/news/how-i-went-from-programming-with-a-feature-phone-to-working-for-an-mit-startup-40ca3be4fa0f/ http://entrepreneurship.mit.edu/news/went-programming-feature-phone-working-mit-startup/ weetracker.com/2019/01/21/nigerian-elvis-chidera-dot-learn/ https://learntocodewith.me/podcast/learning-to-code-on-a-phone-with-elvis-chidera/ https://techcabal.com/2015/12/18/this-app-makes-exam-prep-sessions-look-like-a-day-in-the-game-truck/ https://www.africajobboard.com/coding-with-a-nokia-phone/ https://nationalambassador.com.ng/meet-elvis-chidera-nigerias-tech-whizkid-built-apps-nokia-phone/ https://www.developer.com/daily_news/how-to-become-a-developer-when-the-only-technology-you-own-is-a-feature-phone.html https://www.itnewsafrica.com/2019/04/why-data-light-apps-are-vital-for-developing-emerging-markets/ https://sociable.co/technology/nigerian-teen-coding-engineering-careem/ https://startupbeat.com/could-africas-startups-be-the-ones-to-watch-in-2019/31916/ https://www.techgistafrica.com/africa/quartz-africas-5-young-african-innovators-to-watch-in-2019/ https://appdevelopermagazine.com/creating-apps-that-work-without-the-internet/ https://ventureburn.com/2019/02/african-edtech-startups-model/ https://connectnigeria.com/articles/2019/02/app-of-the-week-prepup/ https://www.techdrum.ng/business/2019/05/03/heres-why-african-edtech-startups-are-struggling-to-find-a-viable-business-model/ https://www.africanexecutive.com/article/read/9765 https://www.brookings.edu/blog/africa-in-focus/2018/06/08/dced-2018-keynote-youth-employment-in-a-changing-world-implications-for-private-sector-development/ https://guardian.ng/technology/the-technology-freelancer-problem/ CONTACT HIM: In Naira Marley's Voice "you can contact him": Twitter: https://twitter.com/elvisnchidera?lang=en Github: https://github.com/Elvis10ten Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/elvischidera/ Blog: http://elvischidera..com/ Android Community: https://android.jlelse.eu/@elvischidera Gitmemory: https://www.gitmemory.com/Elvis10ten Youtube: youtube.com/channel/UCcYAoYEA7q8UzkBWMxmuRAQ Crunchbase: https://www.crunchbase.com/person/elvis-chidera Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/elvis.chidera Pinterest: https://www./657314508092592365/ Videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ss0csG81s9A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7-8lGf-mSo Podcast: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/263-the-freecodecamp-po-29573537/episode/ep-16-from-programming-with-29574264/ https://podtail.com/en/podcast/learn-to-code-with-me/ [Other works created by him: https://inducesmile.com/android/our-android-code-competition-winners/ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=elvis10ten.com.past_questions&hl=en https://apk.cafe/download?file_id=879225/jamb-cbt-waec-neco-prepup https://www.apkmonk.com/app/elvis10ten.com.sdk/ https://apkcafe.ae/download?file_id=1171970/jamb-cbt-waec-neco-prepup I know I’m just getting started, but the goal of my story is to inspire someone somewhere in a similar situation like me - Elvis Chidera Biography Elvis Chidera properly know by his miniker as Elvisten10(probably because he was still playing ten ten(game) concerning his ambition. Now, 21years old grew up in portharcourt umukara and hails from Imo state. He started programming at a very young age 11 and continued alongside his school education which didn't affect him up to the stage he is presently. He now lives in dubai working with a company called careem after working for several companies in different parts of the Globe including nigeria Seun how come you didn't have an idea of this boy that you motivated then as at 2013. He is not the only global programmer that have come out of Nairaland. I have a long list of that one, but I dont like publishing stuffs without the permission of the people involved. Because I am in touch with many legends of Nairaland from when i first joined till now. And Elvis is my good friend too (on and off nairaland), I still remember a prank I played with one of his scripts back then that STRESSED seun seriously (I miss those dayz, now, na to dey write code to keep roof over my head, no time for pranks and trollin' anymore - pretty boring). - my former monicker used to be DHTML (just in case you are wondering) And no, I am a village boy programmer still (cough cough), well, you know how it is. 1 Like |

hackman90:I know him quite well, and even when he was a "village boy", I still found him very impressive and I am not surprised at all that he is making waves. It is not easy to be young and highly skilled too. Some of these other people I am saying are not unknowns mind you, just that some of you may not know they started from nairaland as NOOBS. But let us drop it, I am not comparing Elvis to anyone, I am just saying that many stars have risen from Nairaland. I am done talking too. 1 Like |

I am impressed. It is said indeed that: A man’s gift opens doors for him, and brings him before great men.--proverbs 18:16 And though your beginning was small, your latter days will be very great.--Job 8:7 |

afonja112:sry if i have sounded offensive but my point is that this boy's success is too loud mehn beyond any programmer that has ever come out of nairaland. |
Re: Elvis Chidera, Village boy now a Global Programmer by afonja112: 7:43pm On Sep 09, 2019 |
hackman90:By saying that, this assumes that you know ALL the programmers that have come out of nairaland? On this point, I do not agree with you. Yes he is great, but as for being the greatest to come out from Nairaland - I will NEVER agree to this. But again, I will not mention names. But for the sake of peace, let everyone chose what they want to believe. According to your own information, he is the greatest. According to my own information, he is not the greatest. No matter what I tell you, you wont accept my own opinion. And no matter what you tell me, I wont accept your own opinion. So let us bury it at that, so that we dont start our XENOPHOBIA CRAZE for here. I MADDD gan o, in case you are not aware ---- go and ask Seun, he will tell you. 2 Likes |

afonja112:like you described yourself by saying "you mad gan o" what has that got to do with the discussion.i didnt even want you to mention names,of what use would it be to me all i am still saying is that elvis has gained more recognition compare to any programmer that has ever come out of nairaland thats if they are even top-notch but for you telling me prevly that you use to go by the name dhtml.who cares ?what reputable stuff have you done so far but look at this small boy of yesterday making waves and you are here saying i should ask seun that you mad gan o.so you are not a programmer but a madman and what have you achieved with your madness so far. |

afonja112:I agree with you, I believe Elvis is just lucky in quote. I have seen smarter guys here. There are programmers that was once active on NL that are working now with Microsoft or Google. Not to mention those who have their on start-ups. 1 Like |
