Milnes: Good morning, before you arrive Cyprus you will need to present a medical test from a government hospital for your visa application When you arrive and decide to change your course, you will need to contact the student admission office and follow the procedure for change of course |

Thanks for the info.. But you still. Didnt get my first question right.. Even if I'll be asked to present a result from a government hospital together with my visa application, it still does matter.. Im actually asking for a friend who got admission to cyprus and should be resuming by October. He applied like three months ago, he presented a good medical test result. He just collected his visa recently and he is planning to leave anytime soon. But he is scared he might have contacted an infection after the unprotected sex he's had within the past few months lol. He was asking me that " what if he gets to cyprus and the medical examiniation he'll go through in cyprus show that he has one infection or the other, would he be quarantined over there or deported or something" lol. He is scared as hell. I told him to go and du test now so he'll know wassup and if he has i fection, he should treat it before he flies, but he keeps telling me he is broke. So im asking now, what will happen if after he gets to cyrpus, the authorities there make him undergo a medical test and he is found to be infected, would he be deported or treated? ctleurocollege: |

Milnes: You have given him a good advice, let him go for another test if he discovers any sickness he should treat it before he travels 1 Like |

Foreign students in Cyprus may now work in paid activity According to a recent law, which follows a directive of the European Union, students who are nationals of third countries may now work in Cyprus, in paid economic activity, under certain conditions and for certain kinds of work. The Order or Decree of the Minister of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance that makes this possible was published in the Official Gazette. Students of recognised universities or university programmes are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week, in specific occupations and specified sectors of economic activity. They must be full-time students of recognised universities or colleges (or of some additional registered colleges). They must be treated equally with Cypriot workers. All minimum labour standards should be observed. The Ministry has prepared a standard contract of employment for use in this case. The standard contract is available at the District Labour Offices. The employment of the foreign students is allowed in the following sectors of economic activity and occupations: S/N INDUSTRY FIELDS OCCUPATION 1. Trade-Repairs - Wholesale Trade Freight Handlers - Gas Station and Car Wash Labourers 2. Health and Social Care - Care Givers in Homes for the Elderly 3. Household Activities - Occasional Work of a Domestic Nature 4. Manufacturing - Bakery Workers - Forage Production Labourers - Recycling Labourers - Night Shift Workers 5. Agriculture-Animal Husbandry-Fishery - Agriculture -Animal Husbandry-Fishery Labourers 6. Other Fields - Buildings Cleaning Service Crew - Drainage and Waste Processing Labourers - Distributors of Advertising and Informative Material 7. Food Industry Food Delivery 8. Restaurants-Recreational Centres - Kitchen Assistants - Cleaners The main documents necessary for those wishing to work – and for their employers – are the following: · a valid residence permit · an employment contract, signed by the two parties · a time-table of studies – which should not coincide with the working hours. Students should first get a student permit from the Immigration Authorities. They should then sign a contract of employment, with an employer, and submit it to a District Employment Office for approval. The Employment Office will check the main conditions and if satisfied will approve the contract. The Law provides for punishment (fine or imprisonment) for those who violate its provisions. The above is for general information purposes. For more details, see the Aliens and Immigration (Amendment) Law No. 184(I) of 2007 and the Order published on 18 December 2009, by the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance. What does ECTS mean? It means "European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS)". Credits are a standard means for comparing the "volume of learning based on the defined learning outcomes and their associated workload" For higher education across the European Union and other collaborating European countries[1]. For successfully completed studies, ECTS credits are awarded. One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS credits that are normally equivalent to 1500–1800 hours of total workload, irrespective of standard or qualification type. ECTS credits are used to facilitate transfer and progression throughout the Union. ECTS also includes a standard grading scale, intended to be shown in addition to local (i.e. national) standard grades:[2] |
