I think Rohr is building a very good side on the evidence of the first hour of the match. The likes of Esiti have probably played their last game. At least we can see why Rohr has ignored him for so long. Uzoho is the number 1. Aribo is a great find. He does the simple things very well. Iwobi, MOTM for me, Samu, too selfish Osimhen, heir to the throne Etebo, one of the better players today but played better when he sat deeper Kalu, unplayable Very good performance.. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

tbaba1234:I would not judge Esiti with a match, i will give him a run of some friendlies and start him in some. As someone rightly said, we played 25th in the world and gave them a run for their money. Kindly note that the match was played in Ukraine o. 1 Like 1 Share |

Prectega: What if the intention of the coach in second half was to see how we can hold our own under pressure? For me we won the match. The second goal was a foul that VAR would have not allowed to stand. Rather than look at the result, we should analyse the game. Our defence was poor, a better side would have scored long before their first goal. Our defence was not top notch. Diagonal pass in between the fullback and halfback were not well read by our defenders. Their first goal resulted from one of such. May be we missed Ndidi here. Our transition play was one of the best I have seen the eagles play. I love the way ball was moved from defence to attack. It was pure class. May be Ndidi was the problem. 2 Likes |

1. Esiti is a carpenter. Shouldn't be given future invites. 2. With the array of wing talents coming through, I see no need for Moses Simon anymore. He couldn't beat his man all day and didn't backtrack and mark the defender effectively. 3. Etebo is good and a workaholic but he holds the ball too long at times, puts himself in tight situations, loses possession and puts the team under pressure. 4. Uzoho is improving. He sets up the wall better than Akpeyi and has better positioning. 5. Joe Aribo is the truth. Played out of tight situations many times and put in a good shift. The goal was the icing on the cake. He's gotten a permanent membership of the squad from his performance today. 6 Likes 3 Shares |

It was a very good game. To me Rohr lost this match not the boys. 1. Late substitutions. He waited too long for the changes 2. It's wrong ideal to tell Aribo to sit deep and let Etebo roam in the second half. 3. He sacrifice the midfield to the Ukrainians during the second half. That's very timid of him considering there was still enough time. He did that with the Argentines and it didn't pay off. Lastly, attach is still the best form of defence. We fell back and the Ukrainians carried the fight to us. 2 Likes |

From reports, we seemed to have played well other than that 2 minutes of madness. Can't complain too much as it's a friendly. Need to watch the game before I can say anything. |

My analysis 1. Chukwueze = selfish 2. Osimhen= wasteful 3. Uzoho = No 1 goalie for now 4. Samuel kalu = workerholic attacker 5 Aina = good offensively but error prone defensively 6. Iwobi = nice playmaker but smtimes misplaces pass 7. Esiti = dint impress 8. Aribo =was just flashing As for rohr, he is very lucky, shevchenko would av protected his lead or add more to finish off d game with great subs |

edi287: We were the better team.. It should have been 4:0 before they scored. Iwobi was pulled off for Esiti. It appeared to change the dynamics. Simon for Kalu was another sub that killed the game. Our transition play today was beautiful. |

Talk now, why you silent . But honestly i wish we were playing two matches during the break so the players could be properly tested. Some players like Esiti got caught up in the cross-fire. The guys were playing terribly when he came in. charlesemeka85: |

Shevchenko made up to 4/5 subs early in the 2nd half while Rohr made only two out of a possible 6 and waited till we conceded before doing the needful. Interesting. |

COOL10: I do not blame late sub as much as the types of subs. I think Iwobi should have been left on. We simply have no replacement for him. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by komekn(m): 10:00pm On Sep 10, 2019 |
tbaba1234: Uzoho did well today, is Maduka's better we simply do not know. He Maduka needs to be tried and tested. Aribo MOTM for me he drives the whole team forward all the way from a defence based position. Aina had a good game Barr some lapses in defence, but he added to the team with contribution to the attack creating added cohesion in the midfield. Jamilu does one thing and that's defend lacks confidence and composure and rarely contributes to the attack and or adds team cohesion. Iwobi brought unusual aggression with his trademark ball possession he was outstanding in the AM role. Samu is good at what he does but needs more maturity to read the game and play for the team. Osimhen is not the answer his hold up play and ability to bully defenders and impose himself on the game not on the level of Ighalo. He had a decent game not outstanding. Etebo is becoming the most consistent and reliable SE player we have. What prevents him from moving to the next level is offensive play and assists with goals. Kalu and Moses are like twins lots of huffing and puffing but very little to show for it. End product is very suspect. But an ok game. Our Defence was OK Ekong the best of the CB's nothing new learned. Esiti was not good he is too heavy and immobile and is not a replacement for Iwobi. His introduction changed the game dynamics at that time negatively. But giving him the benefit of the doubt. It's difficult to come in the way he did. All the other substitutes thier appearance was academic not enough time to do show much. Dennis did show a little spark towards the end. Finally, a great result considering it was a handball ball goal. Worrying though is the way we lost composure so quickly. 1 Like |
