ladymarshall:
If you do not trust your HR to provide the reference letter, how can you trust them to confirm your work duties, if CIC decide to call/mail them for your job verifications?

It is a good idea to provide proof of your HR/employer's inability or unwillingness to provide the reference letter (email, chats etc). There have been cases in the past where applicants have been refused and banned because they went deliberately went over HR's head to get reference letter from their colleague and CIC called HR to confirm, which they denied. Applicant was banned and lost his job. You need to be careful, especially if your organisation is a big one or a public institution, you might not be the only one who have applied for PPR. So if your former colleagues whom you might not know of, went through HR for the letter and the VO sees your application from that same organisation, you don't expect them to just accept your letter from a colleague, they would call HR to confirm. These VOs are smart.

In short, only use colleague notarized letter ref letter for work experience if you can convince the VO beyond reasonable doubts that efforts to get it from HR/employer failed.

My Sis, I just sent you an email.

Please has anyone used Sterling bank recently to pay online for a USD transaction. Please what is the rate? Is it cheaper than GT bank's $1/NGN365 currently?

Awww!!! Congratulations! I love your story, so well-written and very detailed. That post-AOR wait was what I need to read and thanks for your advice. You score 10/10

I wish you all the best in Canada.

Eben04:
It’s PPR + COPR after 10 months !! Brace up for a long read….

Special shout-out to my November AOR group, you guys are the best. It's a big and loving family and I can't wait to meet up with you guys in Canada. And to this great Nairaland thread, I owe a great part of this success to you. That's why I vowed that no matter how long it took, I must come back to share my story here so that others could learn as I did or be inspired just as I was. For those new on this journey, I know it has been said over and over but I’m going to repeat it again – Nothing beats reading and researching for this life-changing journey. This thread especially is a goldmine of information and some altruistic seniors (May God bless them!) further took their time to carefully sort the information. Please study it. This piece of advice could make or mar the success of one’s application. And to those still waiting, hang on – the end is near. Delay is not denial !

La fin !

First, CIC agents who answer calls are not VOs or even the case analysts who review your application and provide recommendation. VOs make the final decisions and weighs the evidence of each case. Each case is different.

Post-AOR, don't be calling CIC like that to get advice on grey areas or what to do. They're not your friend or fellow applicants, they work for the government, not you. Also every call you make and the details are recorded in your gcms notes. The last thing you want to see is @bold recorded in your notes, that would raise the VO's suspicion. Raise your concerns here or your AOR groups. Or better still, tweet at IRCC. And your case is not peculiar, so don't worry, provide the alternative docs as proof. Also remember to check page 1 and the search thread regularly. All the best.
Sarang:

I called CIC the guy was just talking blah! That the job is not legal cos it’s cash and I told him it’s not in Canada, things are different where I come from..Anyway I ended the call there after and I found something on Canadavisa, send me pm. Someone applied that way and got his PR. No harm in trying

Most VOs give 15 usually. In rare cases, 30 days.

You can do whatever you like with your money as long as you can prove to the VO that you have access to the funds.

Goodday fam,
I'd like to know if one receives a gift deed in naira, say: 3.6 million naira. Can one convert it to usd and move it to a newly opened domiciliary account in same bank or it's better to leave it as recieved (in naira)?

My people, I am back with the full PPR gist…Warning: very long read ahead o cheesy

Waiting Period:
This was hellish, I was constantly checking my profile. I also set up tent with coke and popcorn on canadavisa and nairaland threads. Instead of helping, it was increasing my anxiety so tey I no fit sleep. I needed a distraction so I bit the bullet and registered for PMP since my manager had kukuma been pushing me to do it. So for 3 months, I was completely focused on preparing for the PMP exam, thankfully I passed! Then I resumed my unpaid job on canadavisa and nairaland lol. I also joined the Jan AOR group for support (best.family.ever!)

So finally, this journey has come to a successful end. Big shout-out to my Jan AOR peeps who were super encouraging and everyone on this thread who took out time to answer my questions or provide reassurance. God bless you all! kiss I pray everyone on his journey will rejoice like this too soon. Cheers!

Hello @stencil, @ladymarshall, @johnnybravo1990

I would like to ask about POF.

In the case where POF is in a spouse's MMF account (which from here I have learnt that a letter of authorization that says I have access to the funds is required), do I (PA) still need to include my statement of account?

@bold I'm sorry, did CIC send a new memo? Where did all these speculations come from? What exactly are the statistics? Please let the VOs do their jobs and allow us who were paid in cash collect our PPR in peace. It's not in your place to begin to guesstimate on people's applications like this. The wait is tiring and painful enough That's why there's background checks. We're not the first and won't be the last to recieve cash yet get PPR.

I am not sure you read from the beginning before quoting me undecided, Sometimes we need to understand the dynamics of the conversation before making insinuations Lady. We were talking about fraudulent people blocking ways for genuine people because the lady in question said she called a cic agent and the guy was yarning opata that she can’t use it blah blah blah. I am not sure anyone is advocating for it to be stopped, neither did you see it in my post that I am clamoring for an end to cash payment reference letter undecided, I only responded to Tina26 when she quoted my response (which i wondered why) to the lady who felt she couldn't use her job because she was paid in cash to the link with people who got PPR with cash payment reference letter. And I wondered why employees pay their workers in cash, you need not respond because it can also be seen as a rhetorical question that doesn't need response or choose to explain why they do in case the good Lord touched your heart to respond and not being overly defensive and making unnecessary insinuations. I don't appreciate that Lady and I haven’t said PPR shouldn’t be given to such people after all they have the experience. Peace

This is heartwarming. Thanks for the tips.

ladymarshall:
I wrote in Frankfurt and got great scores LRSW: 8.5, 8.5, 8, 8. Your examiner would be British. You should not worry about accents because even Germans struggle seriously in speaking with their accents just like Nigerians struggle with writing in ielts. The ietls national average score for speaking is low in Germany. So just be prepared, confident and fluent, as a native speaker, you have that advantage.

You need to step-up your writing game because generally Germans write English better than they speak so I think the standards might be higher for the writing module.

Prep for listening and speaking, normally. The GT exam is simpler but trickier than academic and the scoring is higher, so keep that in mind. All the best.

Let your wife and you open different EE profiles. Your EE profile could get you PNP especially Ontario. Try to max out your ietls scores.

Your wife's age is sweet, she can also be the PA, let her try to max out ielts, then write an additional qualification exam (CIMA, BCS IT etc) to get two or more certs, she can also learn French for TEF scores, then add your ECA and ielts to boost her scores.

If either of you get ITA first, the other partner would withdraw the EE profile or revoke the GC key. That way you improve your chances and don't lose out on both sides. Couples have tried this in the past and gotten PPR.
