Ferdinand is the greatest English defender for a reason .Ferdinand and Vidic were both world class defenders. Ferdinand was better in some departments (influence, pace, positioning, reading of the game, organizing the defence, calm with the ball, technique), Vidic was better in others (heading, man marking, tackling, more aggressive, etc).
