OYE PROTEST: EKITI GOVERNMENT VISITS, CONDOLES WITH FAMILIES OF SLAIN FUOYE STUDENTS
The Ekiti State government has commiserated with the families of Joseph Okunofua and Kehinde Dada, students of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) who lost their lives during Tuesday’s protest in Oye-Ekiti.

The government delegation comprising the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Biodun Oyebanji; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Biodun Omoleye; Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social development, Chief (Mrs) Moji Fafure; Commissioner for Environment, Hon Gbenga Ageyo; lawmaker representing Ido/Osi 1 at the State Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Fawekun, and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Dr (Mrs) Enuice Oladimeji, visited the two families in Ido-Ekiti and Usi –Ekiti on Friday afternoon.

The delegation led by Hon. Oyebanji visited Mrs Esther Okunofua, mother of Joseph, who was a 300 level student of Biology Education in Ido -Ekiti and Mr and Mrs Adedayo Dada, parents of Kehinde Dada in Usi Ekiti.

Oyebanji said the visit was at the instance the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi; who was saddened by the unfortunate incident, adding that the visit was to demonstrate that the state government share in their grief and to encourage them during the trying period.

“On the instruction of the governor, delegation of the government is here to condole with the families that lost their loved ones during the unfortunate incident that happened in Oye Ekiti. We are here to commiserate, encourage them to take heart and to assure them that government is with them in this trying period”, Oyebanji said.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Chief (Mrs) Moji Fafure who also spoke with the parents in Yoruba language urged the parents of the deceased to take solace in the word of God as no amount of counselling can fill the vacuum created by the irreparable loss. She also prayed for the families.

“The Governor and his wife sent their condolence messages. They share in your grief over the unfortunate incident and they prayed that God in His mercies will not allow a reoccurrence. The loss is painful but it is our prayer that the Almighty God will keep your remaining children safe. Never again will you bury any of your children”, she said.

At the resident of the late Kehinde Dada, the deceased’s elder brother, Bankole Dada thanked the government delegation for sharing in their grief.

Good...

But that is not good enough...the perpetrator must be brought to book...we saw the videos of the armed mobile officers with assault rifles taking straight aim and this you g student protesting without arms..this is pure premeditated murder.

We are in 2019 and when our security agencies have the belief that citizens can be killed with no repercussion then we are in a failed state and a law should be passed tosllow us be armed to protect ourselves in return..if it was the son of the governor that was killed like killing. RAM for trophy?how would you have felt?as a parent..

We have been shouting over and over how this sars and security people are killing innocent people on a daily but you government choose to ignore as if it's not clear to see..I am happy they killed one of the officers..tables are turning little by little..don't let it get to your turn at the top..make amends now before it gets to your doorsteps..

Nigerians won't forgive you when the day come...

A word is enough for the wise..

Rip to the young man..

PS..they just kill you for no reason and it does down.if we ever go to war?which I do not pray..blood will flow like a river in this country.I still have the address of the guy that withdrew all my money that lonely evening despite showing all my identification and four d nothing on me.he has three children a grand ma and wife who lives with him..I have traced him down to his house without him knowing..like a thief in the might I will make his close relatives weep over his household.

Not even rubber bullets..

Not even tear gas..

The root cause of the protest must be addressed. Establishing tertiary institutions without adequate facilities is wicked. Some of these decisions are politically motivated

even though their death is saddened and dehumanize, they died ignorantly. that protest shouldn't have resort to injuries not to talk of loosing a soul

now they put their parents into unforeseen sorrow and agony. may God console their parents and I welcome the prosecution of the policemen even though I know nothing will come out of it. the case will be rule as self defence in favour of the policemen

I hope other students learn from this. I no dey step out for one yeye protest, not in this Nigeria

Which activities of the Fuoye Students does the justification of our trespasses?

With enough evidencea on twitter and other social media platforms, you still haven't gotten a hint on what happened at the protest which was peaceful not until the Officers attached to the wife of the Governor slapped the SUG President and the happy triggered policemen started to shoot stray bullets at the students.
So you expect the students to stay back and watch their SUG president been harassed and the policemen shooting at them without them not throwing stones or sticks at them (that which is a normal Nigerian Mentality to react to an action).

I would have love to post some videos and pictures I have with me here on Nairaland but videos can't be posted on Nairaland.

there is a reason old people believe that its a duty to stop a goat that is eating the far produce of the farm at the outskirts.
because if the goat finishes devouring the farm at the outskirts, it will start devouring the farms at the inside.
when the useless security agents deemed it nice to open fire at shiites and ipob, some of us felt its ok.
I gave up on our security criminals last year when they dared to shoot at MEDICAL DOCTORS WHO WERE PROTESTING.
I now realized that these illiterates have declared war on these intellectual class.
they hate and kill you because you are better than them.
