Nigerians love UK because (1) Same time except during winter when it changes for 1 hour. I am losing valuable relationships in Nigeria already because of the time difference. To comment on nairaland and respond to whatssap messages has become trouble for me. In Canada, they even have evening classes (2) You can travel to Nigeria from the UK without much planning and cost of travel is cheap. I was looking at return tickets from Toronto to Nigeria and I am seeing ridiculous prices. Those ones in Manitoba, newfoundland and co, na die dem dey. (3) Cheap Nigerian food and UK is second home to Nigerians. You will see Nigerians everywhere you go in UK. If you are in some cities in Canada, you go know say na you and God alone. (4) Weather, Weather, Weather ... (5) Nigerian foods in UK are cheap. (6) Ease of visa application (6) Oh and the Almighty pounds. If you have ever earned in pounds, you will miss UK. Infact, Canadian dollars feels like naira to me. I was a big boy in UK but Canada don humble me I suggested UK for people who have gotten delays and those with second class and third class. The route we take does not matter, so far they get to Canada. For now, Canada is still the best and easiest to get PR for International students. Don't dull my people. Make I go sleep abeg. 8 Likes |

Naijaforeigner: Buh I heard UK do not allow 3rd party sponsorship, like brother been ur sponsor |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Naijaforeigner: 8:30am On Sep 14, 2019 |
nicerichard05: Yes but he can transfer that money to your account. All you need to do is allow that money be in your account for 28 days plus the period of your visa application (usually about 15- 30 working days). Lets not derail this thread, you can seek more info on the UK student visa thread. 3 Likes |

A quick one guys; My Dad is supporting me with USD10,000 while I pay the remaining balance of USD3,500 and CAD10,000; My Question is; Will my Dad draft a letter of sponsorship or will it be Co-Sponsorship? If Co-Sponsorship, Do I have to draft a letter of Sponsorship on my behalf? Its a bit confusing to me, someone should help me please; Thanks |

hi Tajmal, the application is very easy, i have applied to 6 admissions in the uk and all application fee free;still got the 6 admissions. I also applied with my student copy of the transcript but once you get the admission and about to move over for registration, they kindly inform you to tell your school to send a copy to them or you bring it along while coming. They give all Nigerians automatic 3k scholarship and you are also eligible to apply for 50% discount fees(only sept intake) too which i didn't get the scholarship because i was more interested in canada to focus on the questions, but upto 4 people got it. But please bear in mind that the interview is simple unless you are not courageous and always scared. if you opt for super priority visa or sth like that , your interview will be on call and its toll free to call them back or they might not call you. tajmal: 4 Likes |

I have been a silent follower of this thread who follows every every as a ritual . That's until this post. Ppl sometimes say I have OCD cos I don't do half baked. I've now seen some1 who research abt stuff lyk or even more than I do. I like knowing alot abt anything I want to do. If I'm to go to a place, my research is such that wen I reach d place, it's as if I have been there before. I applied for admission in February, got d admission in May for a January 2020 session, compiled, cross checked, vetted, recompiled and finally applied in August. I keep coming back to nairaland to see what new information I'll get and what areas to address in my application. I have read at least from parts 12 to this present part and click on all links shared on vital areas like samples of SOP, how to compress files for online application and so on and so forth. Congratulations on ur trv and I hope for d best for all others waiting for approval. It shall be well pojupoju: 1 Like |

bazzyblings:Don't ask stupid questions like this here. It's a study permit, yes you MUST study or you won't get the right papers for the work that you want to work. If you want to work not study, go for express entry. 2 Likes |

pojupoju: Hello Pojupoju, I get your point, but we both aired our respective opinions which might be either based on theories or practical observations, or both. That's why in my previous quote to your post, i made mentioned in my piece that it was based on my "personal view" which is more of practical observation based than theories. Another thing to note that the statistics or analysis on the published website posted as evidence was created by someone and the content of the site is also based on the moderator's personal observations and research. Anybody with similar aim can actually published any content based on personal views or reviews. I recognize the fact that you are helping a lot of people with the shared information and i admire and respect you for that. I believe you did more good without any intent of harm. We are both just trying to provide and filter certain information. I respect you bro! |

justwise: Hello Justwise, I believe you spoke based on your own personal research and observations, i did also based on mine. Its not appropriate to conclude that i gave a misleading information. The first sentence of my previous post to the said topic in quote says "The money doesn't necessarily has to be sitting there" which isn't a definite answer because there are different means IRCC adopts to verify a BS. BTW it might have happened, but i have not heard or seen IRCC verifying the sitting closing balance of ones account. Some can prove me wrong on this. I answered based on my personal observations, as with IRCC, some things happens like film-trick. Stay blessed! 1 Like |

Please can someone advise on what I should do. My sponsor(mum), retired civil servant who now earns a pension and runs her own business. The business is not registered yet, it brings in good money, evident in her personal statement of account. I was thinking when I present her as my sponsor to the embassy, its make better sense to say she's a business woman as opposed to a retired civil servant, which might have them(VO) thinking why she would want to incur such expenses at this stage as a retiree. Can I say she is a business person and just tender her personal bank statement, even without a corporate bank statement/registered business document, or just leave her status as retired civil servant. Responses would really be appreciated. Thanks. |

bazzyblings:No one asked where you are. Secondly, if you go through my posts, you will see that I always respond to questions calmly, never insult anyone but always advise people not to ask stupid questions on here for obvious reasons. You that asked the question here, did it seem to you that using a study permit as a way in is the right thing to do? Again, my reply is not an insult, I never insulted you personally. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by JustMellow: 10:37am On Sep 14, 2019 |
justwise: I have had the opportunity to engage in this same conversation with few bankers and bank managers, irrespective of the sign disclaimer, verifying the sitting balance is somewhat rare. Also, different banks with different policy of compliance of sharing certain info. One thing i know for such is that a BS verification process isn't necessarily manadated to be the sitting closing balance. The transactional histories and the generating source is majorly the focus. This is an observation i have personal observed with quite a number of applicants, but still i won't be so certain because i am only speaking from my own angle of closed observations. 1 Like 1 Share |

bazzyblings: Frankly I thought his response to your question was rather harsh, at the same time I just felt it was coming from a place of 'students who are not genuine spoiling it for others', so cut him some slack. Don't take it to heart and I personally don't think any question is stupid, in your case I see sincerity of purpose most people mask their true intentions with schooling. That said, study permit is solely for study purposes, after which you are allowed to work legally otherwise you 'll create avoidable problems for yourself in future (I am not talking from experience but research) Why not try Express Entry, it seems to be what you want. Bless you! |

george009: Hello George009, Based on the information provided, it seems your application should be that of a co-sponsorship. More so, to make it official, you should write a LOS and a co-LOS for your father. Good luck! |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by JustMellow: 11:12am On Sep 14, 2019 |
OB411: Hello OB411, There is nothing wrong stating your mum is a retiree and providing evidence to back your claims, and at the same time saying she runs a business. This goes a long way to show how solidly (economically) established she is, depending on how well your narrate or explain the story. If the CAC document isn't available, the tax clearance, other government monthly or yearly revenue payment etc, purchase or sales receipt, contract or agreement document etc can go a mile to prove the legitimacy of the business. Lastly, her personal BS will suffice for your/the sponsorship purpose. Good luck! |
