You just answered my question with questions.

Since you are taking that line you could have taken with a pinch of salt all serious, pls explain why they should not.

Are all the charges collected from Americans for our VISA really worth it?

Check the reciprocacy schedule of the US for countries even with far better economy than Nigeria and you may understand my side of the story.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country.html

Even Ghanians as of today are given 60 months (5 years) for their B1/B2 visa application with Zero reciprocacy fee.

Again, the US will reciprocate gestures, positively or otherwise.

I get where you're coming from but I believe our foreign policy is zero and outdated but do you know U.S is planning to reduce their visa validity to 12 months? we're reactive, we do not plan for the future.

What about the reciprocity rule? The Us gives the same validity as any country gives.I dont think they can arbitrarily reduce it to a year if Nigeria still gives 2 years visa to Americans.India enjoys multiple 10 year bi/b2 visas

Hi friends,

I was at the US embassy Abuja on Monday 9th Sept.
It happened that I was asked to reschedule because my agent made an error on a barcode. The barcode was the appointment confirmation was different from what I had on my DS-160 form.

Hence, I was asked to reschedule. Unfortunately, I asked my agent to stop since he's made a lot of damage and I decided to continue myself.

My question is, how do I reschedule the appointment?
Is there going to be an reschedule portion for me to continue or I'll start the process again like I'm trying to restart all over and then pick a new date?

The thing is, I logged in, started all over again, picked an available date underneath what the appointment date I had there before. I was told my Visa payment receipt would remain the same.

I'm confused. Please help me
If it'll require anyone who understands this better would like to call me. I can drop my number.

Thanks

Having a hard time understanding what you're saying. Are you trying to say that the DS-160 confirmation number on your appointment confirmation (you'll find this number right under the barcode) was different from your actual DS-160 confirmation number? The barcode itself is just a digital representation of your DS-160 confirmation. Every DS-160 has a unique barcode; so I'm guessing what you're saying is that the agent used a different DS-160 confirmation to book your appointment. At any rate, your agent might have goofed but it's always the responsibility of the applicant to triple-check all docs before appearing for an interview. You can always update your DS-160 info on the appointment portal - and yes, you get to maintain your receipt number. Don't pay a dime. As long as the system lets you select a new date, you're all set. Were you able to secure a new date?
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Kweenkiks(f): 3:27pm On Sep 11, 2019
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.
Thanks for replying.

I was able to select a new date.
I'm just confused if I was supposed to click a rescheduling portion instead of starting all over again.

Cos on my appointment history now, I have the previous and the new one I just picked today.

You should be able to reschedule. What's the confusion here if you've been able to reschedule another date?

On the original appointment, was the DS-160 confirmation number on your appointment confirmation different from your actual confirmation number? I'm curious.
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Kweenkiks(f): 5:40pm On Sep 11, 2019

In this forum and elsewhere, you have been told never use AGENTS for any USA visa. DIY Do It Yourself is the surest way the information will be consistent with what is submitted. An innocent mistake is easily corrected. That is unless you have something sinister to hide

Good morning house, kindly advise please.
So hubby was denied USA visa on Thursday.however,he has reapplied and has an interview next Thursday.
From his interview,
Vo: regular questions on names, passport, are you married, kids etc
Then
Vo: why are u going to USA
Hubby: I am going for a conference
Vo: how long will you be staying
Hubby : 7 days
Vo: have you visited any country in the last 5 yrs
Hubby: yes. UK,UAE,Singapore
Vo: where do you work
Hubby: I work with ***** oil and gas as an offshore engineer
Vo: explain more
Hubby: I work offshore (on the rig) doing *****
Vo handed him the pink note of refusal.

No further questions where asked about his salary etc.

Kindly advice on what he can do better as he is going for another one.

Note the conference is and oil and gas conference which he is a member of the association.

Conferences aren't a big deal any longer due to the high number of people stating that as the reason for requiring visa.
As an O&G Engineer, he probably will do better if it's a training or workshop to further deepen his technical expertise. A conference is a talk shop in the strickest sense of it, and establishing the direct impact on his profession is tricky.
Who pays for the trip since its in relation to his job. Self funded or his company?
He should make a "business case" for his attending the conference and also add some sightseeing of the State he's going. (Florida: Disney. New York: Central Park). He should research online or find out if the hotel he is staying has tour packages.
The part of your transcript you redacted is key also.
How many children. Spouse's occupation. Siblings in the US, etc etc.
He should add a bit of confidence.

These are just my suggestions.

Thank you so much for your input.
The trip is self sponsored. It is conference/workshop which also have tour package to various oil field location in Houston.
Wife is an accountant, working with *** and earning ******
We have two kids.
The Vo didn't even ask about spouse job etc or who is sponsoring.

Now, this is it! If the conference is self-sponsored, let him add a BUSINESS-SENSE to the trip! Let him same that the conference and workshop is an avenue to now formally meet with some associates he is considering a partnership with for his personal business that is currently on with CAC registration. And also, let him speak up convincingly and boldly! He has a great profile, he should be able to secure it. In all, Grace speaketh.

whaoh. How do you guys get interview date within one week. If he was denied last week and he already got a new interview date again . The profile is okay as far as I can see. Something hidden somewhere. Your husband over stayed any of the visa? Has been denied USA visa before? The conference has no bearing on work? If it is self sponsored, is he on leave or what? Why take a break from work for a self sponsored conference that has no bearing on work? I don't know o but his profile appears strong. However, getting a reversal within one week is unlikely. Why is the conference so important he must attend that you are applying within one week? Has he paid so much for the conference? It is not like he is going for masters that resumption date is so close hence need to reapply. The fact that he is reapplying in a week may mean the ECO is right. This may be more than a conference....by and large, we should stop wasting money on American visa. The denial rate is too high. Unless it is extremely important, go else where for vacation till our image is better

Thank you for your numerous questions.
So his work is 4wks in and 4wks out. Secondly the conference/workshop/oilfield tour is directly related to his work.
All his past visas are strictly work related and he has never overstayed his visit.

My guess is that the Vo was not just in the mood for allow people into his country jor.

On securing a date, we even got Tue next week but we opt for Thur. A friend has a travel agent firm and she get date for us but we have to pay sha.

Pls can you link me I also have a Conference for October pick and couldn't get earlier date.

You earn 250k and 320k? Don't make this error with a VO. Your wife earns Y. You earn X.
Find out vacation places in Virginia to visit with your family. You'd be asked.
Do you have someone in US can't be a No. Mention it even if it's another State.

Good evening,
Please I run my Reg. Biz, and pay myself N240k
I will like to travel with my 2kids to US(Tourism).

I.) is advisable for me to state the amount on the form
2.) can I state on the form that my Company will be sponsoring my kids with Annual Travel allowance of N800k
3.) if not, please what do you advise as regards this?

Thanks for the responses in advance.

[quote author=stposh post=82214815]Thank you so much for your input.

I am going to Texas to attend STPOSH Conference and work-related visits to STPOSH Oil Field, STOOSH 2 Oil Field all in Houston

He should add that line and name the oil fields one after the other, without allowing the VO stop him.
The name of the conference also matters.
Confidence is key

Gurus in the house.
Don't you think rebooking another appointment within days is a red-herring. VO will know agent got that appointment right?

Yes on your DS160, you have to state how much you earn. Add them all up and divide by 12. There is no place where you separate your monthly pay from the annual vacation allowance on the form.

Why is your company paying for your children's vacation? They aren't employees of the company. That is a corporate governance issue. It's okay in Nigeria for MD to put his expenses on the company, but foreigners see it as abuse of office. I don't think this is a good idea. Just state you are funding the trip. You may need to evidence this.

Where is the other spouse in all of this?

This is the school resumption season, and you are planning a vacation with children. Your travel date needs to assuage this. Red flag.

More contributions beneficial.

On my Spouse, he won’t be traveling with us, December is their peak/busy time at his workplace.
