I’m not okay with any midfield combo we have at the moment. But we can only play the players that are available.

Why? Cos he didn’t pass earlier?

That second foul was needless and you know it. Maybe Brandon hit out cos he was too tired to run after that Fulham guy. And It wasn’t really a dangerous break sef.

I agree that the foul was needless and Williams should figure out his composure or he'll have a career as the English Sergio Ramos but we can't excuse Elanga's culpability in the situation.

If I give you a short pass and an opposition attacker is closing on you as the last man and you make a desperate lunge which gets you issued a red card for your troubles, who should be blamed? The player making the pass...or the one receiving the short pass?

I blame the second on Elanga

Yeah it was mainly Elanga's fault, but Williams knowing he is already on a yellow card should not have made that tackle. That is the kind of self-control he currently lacks and that hopefully will come with time.

I hope to see McTom and Fred Combo. McTom should sit deep and allow Fred bumping forward, linking up with Mata in the Midfield. I think Fred also is good at long range Passes.

The one receiving the pass. Two mistakes don’t make a ....right?

I understand your point but you shouldn’t be making needless fouls when there’s little at stake.

Having said that, Elanga and Brandon didn’t communicate well in that match. Elanga most times didn’t pick the right pass (weight, timing, angle etc) down the left for Brandon.

He seemed confused. Made wrong decisions too. Had multiple chances to wreak havoc but couldn’t. The other guy on the other side knew what he had to do and how to do it although he ran into walls a number of times. grin

Is Fred ready?

I mean he gets brain farts when he shouldn’t and can’t control the ball properly at times. He should be eased in, seems it’s his low confidence causing all the problems.

That's D'mani Mellor. He didn't have a great game but same can be said for most of the team apart from maybe Mengi, Fish, Williams and of course Kovac for his penalty save. Garner and Levitt played below their usual level.

The other guy Ramazani is older and is a proper regular wingforward. Elanga is younger and has been moved back n forth between wingforward and CF. Same with Mellor.

One thing i don't like about our youth set up is how they rotate a player's position so much that by the end neither the player nor the coach knows his best position.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by ChristoBam: 9:26am On Sep 14, 2019
The way you guys hype these academy prospects is so shocking. Did I see someone say Brandon Williams is already better than Shaw? or that Gomes is the best passer in United except from Pogba? These statements are really really shocking!!!

Let these guys start playing at the senior level consistently for about a year before we start with all these hype and comparisons..When the EFL, Europa league and FA cup start, then we'll start seeing them regularly.

Name 3 better passers than Gomes in the starting XI.

But that shouldn’t be a bad thing, assuming they don’t push them all over the field.

It’s an added benefit if you can master 2 forward positions. Or MF or CB.

Top three passers in Manchester United:

1. Pogba
2. Mata
3. Gomes

That's a fact. It's not even up for debate.

It's not by being deliberately controversial with nothing to gain.

It's appalling when you realize that, in actuality the youth players have better passing technique than the senior squad players.

For example, I've seen Greenwood doing cross field passing (against Cardiff) which some established first team players can't pull off to save their lives

And apart from that, how many fucking matches at the top level has Gomez played that I'll rate him higher than those first team players. Make una dey calm down abeg. Fellaini at a time looked like a prime passer of the ball. And this is someone that played at the top level for sometime.

Evil companionship corrupts good manners. I think that’s the issue.

When Rashford started playing for the senior team his passing ability was much better than what it is now.

Most senior team players are lazy when it comes to movements off the ball. You hardly see an attacker run into a tight space, receive the ball and make a killer pass- all with 2 or 3 touches. They hardly start attacks with intelligent running sef.

Gomes’ goal against Tottenham in preseason- replace Mata with Rashford or Lingard or Lukaku and the result would be different. They’d likely pass back and waste the boy’s run.

It is what it is.

I said going forward i.e in terms of attack, he is better than Shaw. Don’t make me believe you can’t read properly.

It is not really hyping the youth players though, it’s more of a criticism of the senior players.

If it was a prime Evra or Irwin nobody would be making the comparisons.
If we had prime Scholes nobody would be calling for Gomes to start.
If we had prime Giggs n Becks nobody would be asking for Greenwood n Chong to start games.

You need to get your eyes checked. You can’t read properly and you saw Fellaini at some time being a prime passer of the ball.
