Even Toni up top wasn't as talented as either Rooney or Owen, but he was a fine spearhead for the team to hold it up for Totti and was coming off the season of his life with 31 goals in Serie A. It was such a complementary team were so many strengths were maximised brilliantly by Lippi. You can look at every player in the team and see the key tactical function they had. If England had a capable manager like Lippi who maximized his squad strength they would have Won Something.

Agreed on the points raised. My initial thoughts on Tammy was he is nothing but a championship player like similar to Bamford and the likes of Gayle and Frazier Campbell who tore the championship apart and then flop among the bigger boys so I gave him a success rate of 0%. He has proved me wrong and I am still surprised on his tally already.

Definitely good management. If a coach can create a balance in his team then their is a potential to achieve more than the team initial ability. The examples you gave are perfect. Jardim at Monaco and hagg at Ajax. I will put Di mateo at Chelsea to an extent.

In Tottenham you have Kane Eriksen and Son who are top players
Monaco had Mbappe Falcao Bernardo Fabinho Mendy. How do those players look to you? Aside Falcao who was past it, look at what Mbappe Bernardo and Fabinho are doing at their new clubs

I can also tell you how England blended Gerrard Lampard Hargreaves Lennon Cole for Balance. There was no error in management, it was poor overrated players
