Emotionss: I want to assume that you didn’t get a tape and measure the python. I am from a place where pythons are revered too. The ball python can grow up to 6 feet. It has a very mild temper and the colouration is very different from the rock pythons. Believe me, if an African rock python finds its way into a household in any of these villages, it would likely cause some damages. The reticulated python is the specie that targets people most and it can eat you for no reason. Lucky for us, we don’t have these here. If not, it’d be so bad for us all. |

It was really a funny experience for me and my friends in Ekwulobia when we were posted to a new station in the town as Officers. The station was very lonely and the barracks was deserted and we were the only occupants. When you wake up in the morning and opened your door, you will see a big python lying in front of your door. As time goes on, we started killing the snake for pepper soup, we killed up to 7 snakes and it stoped coming to the place. Very sweet white meat. I love eating it. |

I would have doubted this if I had not been in Anambra before. 70% of their communities don't kill this creature they call eke. |

OILOFGLADNESS: Goofed? I was not trying to impress or win any arguement. But I like to adopt a stance of taking personal responsibility on issues like this. I'm glad for your deliverance by the way and I'm happy for your PST which has creates an expose to the spiritual implications of the traditions. My heartache is for those in bondage under the guise of tradition. |

foster212: Pythons dont have fangs but have razor sharp teeth that are bent backwards such day wen the bite say your hand ,u would have to either push the Python's head forward to free ur hand else it's teeth wld rip open ur skin. It's bite is actually to hold it's prey so it can coil around it |

I can attest to this. I served in Neni, Anaocha LGA of Anambra state which shares boundary with Idemili South LGA. We were told since we were in Camp at Umunya not to tamper with EKE because they are ancestors. In fact in my PPA I once saw a student carrying a baby Python with his bare hands. |
