What has really changed the past week that warrants all these expected bull? Are the FPI's back?

In the absence of the FPI's, I expect the market to still tank but that wouldn't stop me from looking for my occasional 10% - 15% till the market is ripe. This has been my position since April/May.

I have been wrong severally and I hope am not wrong this time around. I still believe UBA will come down to around #5 this year.

The time left for next dividend payment has changed ( reduced drastically) !!!
Prices have dropped massively!
EPS has improved significantly!

Never lose focus of time left to reap gains when looking at heavily discounted/under-priced assets, you may be cheating your model....

Time to buy is here!

Warming up for bulls! Stock prices are gradually edging up as they did in 2017 before the main bull came in January 2018

The table below shows how some stocks performed during the 3 week bull in January 2018 (from last trading day in 2017 to the highs they attained before the bull wound up). These are closing prices.

Observations
-Top performers are mostly Tier 2 banks (FCMB topping the list).
-Fidelity had outrun FCMB after H1 2017, but FCMB tried to catch up, hence the huge delivery by FCMB. Fidelity started at 2.46, FCMB at 1.48. This year, dem dey hold each other for shirt dey waka. Watching these two closely, if one lags behind substantially, it might be the one that will outperform eventually.
-Access and UBA didn’t have much strength to move during that bull, they were already trading high at 10.30 and 10.45 respectively, compared to their respective closing prices of today at 7.35 and 6.35. These two have good uptrend potentials. They will deliver this time around when the main bull arrives.
-Same for Guaranty and Zenith, 40.75 and 25.64 respectively, compared to their closing price today at 28.50 and 19.10. Opportunities!

Many stocks are still very cheap right now. We’re not likely to see those lows witnessed before H1 results again this year……..like Zenith at 16.

Before u choose to key into UPDC, remember;

1) Fundamentally, the company is still an unhealthy one.

2) There'll be an impact of dilution post right issue, before the proposed unbundling from the parent coy, UACN. ...which could add to the pressure on updc' EM, ROAE and AsY.

3) Post unbundling, the qualified holders in UACN who got free stakes in UPDC(and updc reits) will want to liquidate their holding in it(updc) mainly because of point 1 and 2 highlighted above.

If with these 3 points, u still do not understand why any price rise in UPDC might not be sustainable in the short term or why a choice btw UACN and UPDC should be an easy one, then I don't know how else to guide us.

The point is; UPDC might be good post unbundling, but UACN is undoubtedly a far much better option to align with.

When buying into any asset, QUALITY should always take higher prominence ahead of everything else, including ones emotions !!

Btw, we think that UPDC still has a lot of potentials though... if it can turn things around. So those in it for the long term may still wish to stay put.

Unfortunately, the probability that u may end been disappointed(with that expectation) is already near 1 !!
Am not so sure if u have taken a cursory view of the current fundamental and technical stand of UACN.
It will likely push higher than lower.

It's case with UPDC was simply a matter of separating the wheat from the chaff !!

Am sure u have done a total 'anatomy' of UACN' H1, 2019 financial print... taking in on a collection of several key fundamental variants/determinants in ur assessment of their recent result.

For the doubters, well, time will help them put things in the right perspective.
