Me I'm mostly concerned with the static state of Nairaland. No major upgrade to add new features for over ten years. 4 Likes |

I havent been consistent on nairaland because the nairaland i joined in 2013-2014 has lost its face value, political thugs aligned to failed administrators puke to our faces without a doubt, threads are no longer educative, the banter that made nairaland my number one tool to fight depression has vanished. I was forced to move to twitter and sincerely i havent regretted it, but nairaland is still my home, Seun i can be a mod for you, we can clean up the house Nairaland can get that upgrade it needs We can do it, just wake up and take action. 5 Likes |

I cannot solve all your complaints about Nairaland at once. At best, I can tackle issues one at a time after identifying which issues are most urgent, and even this requires the cooperation of my staff because there is not much that I can do by myself. I don’t know why Nairalanders act as if all their complaints are one and the same when clearly, they are very different and require different solutions. It baffles me a lot. Someone says, “I am hungry”. Another says “me too, I haven’t had sex in 6 months”. A third person says “me too, my boss sacked me”. And they are all after me like, “why are you refusing to solve this problem?” “Nairaland is totally destroyed”, etc. The most troubling thing mentioned so far are the image spammers. I thought we had handled them a few weeks ago after enabling a new moderating tool for the supermods. Did anyone notice the improvement? Did things get worse after getting better, or was there no noticeable improvement at any point? 22 Likes 13 Shares |

Amarshal:So you are not saying that mods posted pornographic content, you are saying that someone posted pornographic spam on a front page thread and the mods were slow to remove it. Okay good. This is the image spam issue that seems to be the most pressing. This is the complaint that I will have to focus on for now. 12 Likes 4 Shares |

Seun:I haven't noticed any improvement at all! Nothing has changed recently. I suggest you hire more mods and train them or assign them to be trained by. And I also suggest that you host a contest in the Web session for people to bring in suggestions on how to redesign the site and add new features. I tell you this can be started and concluded before the end of the year. In fact, why can't Nairaland be designed to accept ads from Google which will multiply its monthly revenue by at least 20 times and Nairaland will have an office with at least 10 workers to start with. 8 Likes 1 Share |

I'm not sure if this is currently not happening, but every moderator should be paid some stipends and there should be full-time mods who should also be well paid as an incentive to motivate them to work well. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Zikora1000:In as much as I love this comment of yours because you want the tribalism to be tackled. However with no insult intended to your person, I feel you have no moral justification to say this, as the stop of tribalism on this thread, in Nigeria, starts from every single one of us as a person. But my darling you are not the right person to label anyone biased and tribalistic because going through your comments on this forum so far, you are that which you condemn. In every ten comments from you about 8 of it are tribalistic utterances. And you want this to stop, even you are one of the problems? Hell No! It’s not gonna stop if you and the other folks who also do nothing all day than to insults Igbos and Yorubas (as the case maybe for you) on this forum make a resolution to stop this. As clearly you are going to transfer this hatred to your offsprings and they will clearly inherit a war they don’t understand. You shouldn’t be seen calling another person tribalistic. You should work on yourself. I singled you out because of your comment. No harm intended, you still want to insult me? You can go ahead. @Seun can only do so little. The onus is on us as users of the forum to stop this, after all the tribalism started from the users and not the owner of Nairaland. I only feel they are complicit in this things because of the dead silence, this thing has eaten deep and no efforts to curb the nonsense and lots of this tribalistic comments are from accounts created recently. Yours is an example. 15 Likes 5 Shares |

Seun: With all due respect, you know you're just deliberately avoiding and turning a blind eye to the issues people have complained most about which is TRIBALISM. Instead of making this bogus reply bolded, to make it seem you're interested, it's better you keep mute, that gives us hope that you're looking into it. Thanks 9 Likes |

Seun:I think it helps if people report them, though, I dislike when my non offensive posts are banned! Perhaps more mods is pressing. Could you post a job description please so we all know what's involved? And invite your mods here too. Though, in all honesty, they should be here already defending the allegations against them! I have personally found them to be highly upstanding though I don't know why myndd likes closing threads! 2 Likes 1 Share |

budaatum:Thank you! It’s high time to call them out. Her comment about the mods made me click on her profile and I went through her comment because I needed to see if she truly despised tribalism and wants the mods called out for it or she is one herself but only feels that she gets punished because of her tribal views and she belongs to the latter group. Before I finally created an account on Nairaland, been reading this forum since 2008 and this forum was the best forum so far, political section was a place to educate yourself. The fights were healthy, back then the fights used to be Nigerians in diaspora and Nigerians in Nigeria and it was a light banter, Family section was where you could get valuable advice without being labelled names, but now Nairaland has gone to the wolves. Kids from secondary school dominates the forum with multiple accounts spewing rubbish and those (the tribalistic Yorubas, Igbos, Hausas) who lives in the outside world pretending to love themselves use Nairaland as an opportunity to spread hate. The hate here is too much! And the silence about it is deafening. And the most annoying thing is the hatred we inherited today, we understand nothing about it and we weren’t there when it happened, now the millennial are about to transfer the hatred and aggression to their offspring and the cycle continues. Sigh. I bumped I into an old post on politics on Nairaland some days back and I want that Nairaland back. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Thank you so much for these your comments. It’s really appalling that young intelligent men and women will spend hours online to spew hate against each other in the name of tribal politics. Prettiepearlz: 4 Likes 1 Share |

We are African, Nigerians, where the community all help bring up our children. So when the children are bad, it's the wiser who have been deficient and irresponsible in their duty. Hopefully that will be one of our changes, that the wise will be able and responsible. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Mr Seun, firstly I will like commend you for nurturing Nairaland to this stage. However, the number-1 factor mitigating against the growth and maturity of Nairaland is unchecked evil TRIBALISM especially the Yoruba (Afonja) Vs Igbo (Igbo) threads. These nauseating threads have taken over the forum and most well educated Nigerians have left Nairaland for the silly badly educated tribal bigots that post nonsensical threads everyday on this forum. Report tribalism for contravening the rules. Though, a super should be responsible for adjudicating or some might end up reporting tribes they dislike. You all should just all get better hearts and minds, is what I think. For though tribe and tongue may differ, In brother and sisterhood stand and serve Nairaland! 2 Likes

Seun:This is so childish. To say I am disappointed will be an understatement. I am honestly embarrassed on your behalf for what you typed above. People mentioned irrelevant topics gracing fp,gave you examples which you also embarrassingly asked for, implying you don't even visit a site you created. There was also examples cited of blogs using Nland as a dumping ground for all sorts of stories reserved for when people are drunk on N20 shekpe. To compound issues these blog stories are littered with the kind of grammar some kindergarten pupils would feel ashamed to be heard speaking or typing. What happened to promoting original content on nairaland to make it a go-to source for information by other media?Heck, there were times when mainstream media like Punch and blogs like Lindaikeji sourced news stories and opinions from here, but your lackadaisical attitude and freedom given to more or less some glorified poorly schooled secondary school graduates in name of moderators may have curtailed that. What also happened to upgrading the appearance of the forum itself or you think upgrade is an exotic term reserved for foreign sites alone? This your reply clearly summarises that you and the moderators are on the same wavelength of allowing"anything goes"on nairaland. It's a shame. 15 Likes 3 Shares |
