Komekn just because a player is tall does not mean he can always make use of his head to score goals....

ronaldo is not the tallest striker but he can sure score more goals with his head than any taller guys...

I have watched that lanky guy called Onauchu....dude is not aggressive and hungry enough...

we need players who are hungry and ready to use what they've got to their own advantage

I really can't contend with your view.

Because l haven't watched him with any depth.

Nonetheless, when he played for the SE he had Aerial dominance impressive hold up play and was quite good technically speaking.

So l still think he is a prospect not necessarily outstanding but he has not been given much opportunity to show what he can do.

we have to approach them but can not force them. tomori have not said such as you claim so its wrong to jump into conclusion yet. so far he has shown interest of late to play for us so lets wait and see how events unfold in the nearest future. positive mindedness begets positive results

bro...dragging this lads with top European nations is not always easy...

we're not proactive in this country....
If I was the coach...there are some players I think I won't even let slip through our fingers...

players like;
Noah Okafor
Dele Alli
Ross Berkeley
Tammy Abraham...
Eze
Agu etc

I don't mind give them a call up at a very young age...plan with the cadet team coaches to call them up for the under 23, 20
will do that to secure their future asap

Ayila, Olofinjana and Kaita were exactly what we have today in Agu, Etebo, Onazi, full time roadside mechanics. Only Mikel would stake a claim. Ndidi and Iwobi would definitely start

Odia was good but he wouldn't start in a team that has a healthy Tyrone. None of those centre backs would start for Eagles today.

In 2008, Enyeama was a full time calamity, hence he was benched for a Ligue2 player. Ikeme then was inactive, in fact, he was more or less clubless after his non league stint with Stockport County. Etafia was the Akpeyi of today, Aiyenugba was Ezenwa.

Like I said earlier, that team only had the attack going for them. Nothing special really

My guy talk wetin you know. We talk Goalkeepers of that era you dey mention Etafia and Ikeme. Compare Enyeama, Ejide and Ayenugba with today's Akpeyi, Ezenwa and Uzoho. Our current keepers are no where close and always a bunch of calamity waiting to happen.

I repeat none of our Full backs come close to Taiwo and Odiah. As for CB I will rate Apam (of 2008) with Awaziem.

Mikel + Obodo combo > Ndidi + Etebo

I don't even want to compare the forwards because the current players we have are still learning grin

Is Nigeria Brazil or Spain that a player from the Czech top division cannot be invited to the national team?

If Olayinka gives another impressive performance in their next UCL game he will definitely enter Rohr's roaster. Take that from me.

How many of your national team players play in Czech Republic or any other obscure league at the moment??

Nigeria is not Brazil but most of our national team players are in better leagues. The man should move to a more visible place.

Apam was better than awaziem. He was a hell of a defender then in the colors of nice and Rennes, was at the verge of joining Sunderland in the epl before he got injured which hindered his career progression

Which midfield bench warmers? This was in 2008 and Mikel was very much an integral part of the Chelsea setting, Christian Obodo was still at Udinese and was still very much a regular with them. Seyi Olofijana was with Wolves in the EPL then and played 135 games between 2004 and 2008. Calculate it that will tell you average number of games he played per season. Yusuf Ayila waa with Dynamo Kyiv and as at then was even a regular name in their UCL fixtures.

Mikel+Obodo> Ndidi+Etebo
Meanwhile we still had Ayila, Keita and Olofijana then. Before our last game who were our other Midfielders? the aged Mikel and Ogu.

If una been no follow those players then make una talk
I really followed this team o, been following the SE full time since 2000 nations cup, this period was when Mikel was a full time DM full of sideways pass hardly inventive, Obodo shine today anonymous tomorrow

Players With Nigerian Heritage Who Can Improve New Look Super Eagles
Elvis Iwuamadi 5 hours ago

Super Eagles’ all-round performance in the 2-2 draw with home side Ukraine – an international friendly match in Dnipro on September 10 2019, encouraged a huge sense of hope about the team’s future following the retirement of veterans like John Mikel Obi and Odion Ighalo. However, it also brought new possibilities to the fore – effective talent scouting that will bolster Gernot Rohr’s new-look team.
It is, however, not a herculean task. 2019 is such a great year to be a Super Eagles fan, in view of the plethora of talents lying across Europe waiting to be snapped up.
Completesports.com’s OLUYEMI OGUNSEYIN takes a look at five uncapped dual-national players that can bring massive improvement on what was on show in Dnipro last week.

1. Tammy Abraham (Striker- Chelsea, England)
At the moment, Lille striker, Victor Osimhen is one of the brightest young forwards in Europe and he showed the reason why in the friendly against Ukraine, harrying the hosts’ defence before getting his first international goal from the spot. .
He continued with that rich vein of form by netting his fifth goal in Lille jersey to help them to a 2-1 win over Angers last week Friday.
However, having another exciting talent in Tammy Abraham who grabbed a hat-trick over the weekend to provide him with an intense competition would be Nigeria’s gain.
Great teams always have ammunitions in layers and the Super Eagles should be no different. The fact that the 21-year-old striker is firing from all cylinders while also leading the Premier League goal chart makes things very difficult.
England and Gareth Southgate’s interest would have considerably peaked and they would want to have Abraham tied to a competitive game.
But should Nigeria whose initial approach was blatantly turned down by the striker snap him up from the claws of the Three Lions, it would be one of the biggest coups the country has ever made.

Eberechi Eze
2. Eberechi Eze ( Attacking Midfielder – QPR, England)
Last week, Nigeria’s collapse in Dnipro began immediately the team’s attacking edge was sacrificed as Rohr withdrew Alex Iwobi for Anderson Esiti in his quest to preserve the lead.
Andriy Shevchenko’s men took charge of proceeding, constantly asking questions of the Super Eagles’ midfield which translated to pressure on the defence. Within a minute, the hosts scored twice to tie the game.
Now aside Iwobi, Rohr’s current set-up is bereft of another attacking midfielder and there is not so much that roving new boy, Joe Aribo or Oghenekaro Etebo can do in that department.
Queens Park Rangers no. 10, Eberechi Eze is very much suitable to hand stern competition to the Everton new signing. The 21-year-old in March 2017 trained with the Super Eagles in London but impressive showings for QPR have seen him feature for England U-20 and was away with the U-21 squad during the last international break.
Eze is a lively attacking midfielder, adept at using both feet and unlike Iwobi, he has an enviable shooting ability, thus making him a goal threat.
Only on Saturday, Eze was on song, providing a goal and an assist to steer QPR to a win over Luton. This season, he has registered three goals and laid on two others in seven English Championship appearances.
Viv Solomon-Otabor

3. Viv Solomon-Otabor (Winger – CSKA Sofia, Bulgaria)
There were few eyesores in the Super Eagles’ 2-2 draw against Ukraine aside the manner of collapse in the second half. One standout would be Moses Simon’s constant show of inefficiency which has become a theme.
It is as though his only use is for counter-actions on the right side of the pitch, to double down on a dangerous left-winger. On the left where he started his Super Eagles career, Simon is miserable, constantly barging into defenders and losing possession. Overall, no end product.
With starters, Samuel Kalu and Samuel Chukwueze, it was different as both sliced through the Ukrainians. The team needs competition to stay afloat and Simon won’t provide such.
CSKA Sofia winger, Viv Solomon-Otabor is an exciting winger capable of vying for a spot. Otabor is a speedster, skillful and dribbles past oppositions with ease. He also is a goal threat.
Although, born in London, Soomon-Otabor has never been capped at any level by England. He trained with the squad that represented Nigeria at the 2015 All-Africa Games and the 2016 Olympics.
Nephew to ex-Nigerian internationaln Thompson Oliha, the 23-year-old began his career at Birmingham City where he was named the club’s Young Player of the Season in 2015-16.
At the weekend, Solomon-Otabor helped fourth-placed Sofia to a 1-0 league victory over Botev Plovdiv in Bulgaria.
Sebastian Osigwe

4. Sebastian Osigwe (Goalkeeper – SC Kriens, Switzerland)
The goalkeeping position remains a grey area for Rohr who has since proceeded to hand youngster, Maduka Okoye playing in the lower league in Germany a maiden invite.
Last week Tuesday, Francis Uzoho provided a solid performance enough to reclaim his starter’s shirt, but the 20-year-old still needs to be put on his toes.

While Okoye represents a long term solution, Ikechukwu Ezenwa’s spot might be needing some reevaluation.

Just under two years, Ezenwa has moved to three clubs within the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and has been on the periphery at each of them.

Truth is despite being spoilt for options elsewhere, Nigeria is faced with a dearth of goalkeeping talents.
SC Kriens goalie, Sebastian Osigwe would make for a decent catch to put Uzoho and co. under check.

Osigwe is Swiss-born and his father, Vitalis is an ex-Nigeria youth international and Enugu Rangers player. As a 19-year-old, the goalkeeper was called up by coach John Obuh to represent the Nigeria U-20 side at the 2013 Toulon Tournament.

The 25-year-old is a prominent player at Kriens since joining in the summer of 2014. He played a huge role in helping the team rise from the Swiss fourth tier to the second division. This season, he has played every minute of his team’s six Swiss Challenge League games, helping them to stay fourth on the standings.
Chuba Akpom

5. Chuba Akpom (Striker – PAOK FC, Greece)
On what basis did Kelechi Iheanacho get an invite for the last international game? Rohr needs to be consistent with the sort of cold shoulder he gave while naming his AFCON 2019 squad.
The national team should only be for active and performing players and no spot should be granted as compensation. Iheanacho has not improved from his inactivity at Leicester City. And unless he gets a solution, he shouldn’t get an invite.

That said, the Super Eagles need a replacement, a versatile forward and Chuba Akpom fits the bill. He can play as up top, support centrally or from the wings.

Since ending his age-long union with Arsenal in the summer of 2018, Akpom has gone on to better things in Greece, scoring crucial goals to help PAOK secure the Greek Super League title last season.

This seaaon, he has scored twice in three league games and he is no stranger to the Nigerian national team set-up, having engaged in a kick-about with the side in March 2017 alongside QPR’s Eberechi Eze.

Akpom can come in to give Rohr more options, and possibly provide more quality in the Super Eagles’ attack.

I am sure you followed Yusuf Ayila too, when he was at Dynamo Kyiy? Was he also a bench warmer? Olofijana despite his being average with the Eagles played 135 games for Wolves between 2004 and 2008. Is that a bench warmer statistics?

I know people were not happy with that generation of Eagles for not winning any title and then the yardstick for comparison waa the 1990s and so that disappointment is still in the heart of many. Go back to that list and select a starting 11 and then attempt to replace players from that starting 11 with our current players.

ayila balled consistently for Ukraine giants dynamo kiev for over half a decade both in the league and Europe (ucl and uel). olofinjana on his path did well also for the teams he played for in the epl and champiomship. both players were good defensive midfielder and miles better than what we can boast of today in the current team(excluding ndidi).

German champions Bayern Munich have reported on their official website that highly-rated Dutch-born striker of Nigerian descent Joshua Zirkzee has committed his future to the club by penning a new deal.

The new agreement between Bayern Munich and Zirkzee will keep him at The Bavarians until June 30, 2023.

Signed from Feyenoord in 2017, he has scored 39 goals in 64 appearances for Bayern Munich youth teams while providing 20 assists.

In his first words after penning the new contract, Zirkzee told Bayern's official webpage : ''I'm thrilled to have renewed my contract with one of the best clubs in the world.

''It gives me additional motivation to continue to go full throttle. I would like to gather game practice with the amateurs and continue to learn in the training of the professionals.

''My big goal is to play for the first team of FC Bayern sometime''.

A Netherlands U19 international, Zirkzee bagged a hat-trick in his last international match against Portugal on September 10.

The 18-year-old lists VV Hekelingen, Spartaan '20 and ADO Den Haag among his previous clubs

As at then the AM position was not much recognized as most teams played 4-4-2 (majorly) or 4-3-3. The central midfielder had the free roaming role. Kanu Nwankwo was intially the major SS but as he aged we adopted a two striker pattern of Yakubu and Martins who switched positions between CF and SS.

Oruma took over from J-J okocha in that CM role while Obodo more less took over from Oruma. Mikel also played that role and DM.

The only thing that wing lacked were natural wingers but it was made up for by the numerous pacey forwards we had and so players like Utaka, Osaze and Nsofor played from the wings and they were always goals threats from those position.

What we majorly lacked then was a good coach.

Kudos for this beautiful statement bro... can you just imagine someone wishing a player from Serbia is invited just because of one good game and a goal. He's suddenly become a masterclass.

It is on the same level as someone calling for KC to be in the SE as a quality option. Which quite a few people here have said.

Particularly when you consider that he has been found wanting by three consecutive Managers at Leicester.

Yet people talk about him being off form. You can not be off form for three seasons.

If Olayinka is the stand out player in that league and for his club. Then l will rather have a confirmed consistent Lion in a lower league than an anonymous mouse in top league and club.

I have not seen Olayinka play nonetheless l have no problem with him being called up. Let him be tested and if proven to be good enough then his invitation should end in selection.

Oga Icon4s, you're speaking with two mouths.

It was you and others that praised our present team for being better than the former super eagles teams in that we have a deep bench now.

So, I am surprised at your turnaround that the 2006 team is better all round and has a better bench.

That team (2006) was/is overrated. Chriskels puts everything in the correct perspective. Those midfielders were just senseless, unintelligent tacklers whose recklessness cost us dearly and whose lack of creativity smelled like rotten egg.

I won't pick any midfielder from that team today

Not sold on Chuba. I have a feeling he is another Esiti.

Osigwe isn't better than the keepers we have.
