Oga Icon4s, you're speaking with two mouths.

It was you and others that praised our present team for being better than the former super eagles teams in that we have a deep bench now.

So, I am surprised at your turnaround that the 2006 team is better all round and has a better bench.

That team (2006) was/is overrated. Chriskels puts everything in the correct perspective. Those midfielders were just senseless, unintelligent tacklers whose recklessness cost us dearly and whose lack of creativity smelled like rotten egg.

I won't pick any midfielder from that team today

Oga, you are not sure of what you are saying. If you have been on this thread long enough there has never been a time I ever opined this current team was ever better than the mid-2000s team.

Yes, I have always supported the current team and praised their achievements because I owe my loyalty to every Nigerian team whether good or bad. Not like some of you that come here to predict doom and switch teams to support so that you will have an opportunity to come shout "I said it-i said it".

Besides, I don't know which wreckless tackling midfielders you are referring to or maybe you are referring to Sanni Kaita's kick during the 2010 WC? or please tell me which case. And I don't understand what you mean by the players in the team were over-hyped because they are mostly players with excellent abilities but only failed to achieve much as a team.

My guy talk wetin you know. We talk Goalkeepers of that era you dey mention Etafia and Ikeme. Compare Enyeama, Ejide and Ayenugba with today's Akpeyi, Ezenwa and Uzoho. Our current keepers are no where close and always a bunch of calamity waiting to happen.

I repeat none of our Full backs come close to Taiwo and Odiah. As for CB I will rate Apam (of 2008) with Awaziem.

Mikel + Obodo combo > Ndidi + Etebo

I don't even want to compare the forwards because the current players we have are still learning grin

But Etafia and Ikeme of 2008 follow for the depth wey u say na die nah grin

Enyeama was overly erratic until 2010 worldcup. His heroics against Argentina changed everything about how fans viewed him, and that was majorly what informed Lille's decision to sign him. So Enyeama wasn't really that special, neither was ejide nor Aiyenugba.

Bros I would play Ndidi ahead of Mikel in the defensive midfield position, and shift Mikel to the CM in place of Obodo, who could only play once for Udinese in the season in question, and a total number of 78games from 2005 - 2012. Infact Obodo of 2008 wouldn't make Eagles bench today. Hence, in that midfield, only Mikel can break in to give us an Ndidi DM, Mikel CM and Iwobi AM set up.

Not sold on Chuba. I have a feeling he is another Esiti.

Osigwe isn't better than the keepers we have.

Chuba was very good at youth level but after that NUTTIN AT ALL.

IMO not good enough.

So what are we talking about?

So who were the bench warmers that they were talking about because in the defense Odiah, Taiwo, Apam and Yobo were super regulars at their clubs and some with UCL experience.

Mikel, Obodo, Ayila, and Olofijana were our regular midfield options and were also regulars. And in the attack as at that 2008 I need not tell you the forms players like Osaze, Martins, Yakubu and Nsofor were. Let me also mention Utaka, Makinwa and Oghahowa.
So oga Jihday who were the bench warmers?

In 2008, before the Afcon, Obodo played only a single match for Udinese. Olofinjana just like a Etebo was a championship player, while Ayila could only play 15matches for Kiev. How do those stats translate to REGULARS STATS?

Please continue to expose the falsehoods abeg. I am behind you as long as you back up your facts.

People are talking as if the 2000s Super Eagles weren't equally bang average. Hardly any above average player in that team. Even Enyeama entered his prime in 2008 thereabouts

that team was the worst I have ever seen in Afcon...
the coach was not it...with his assistant always on shorts...

they manage qualify with 4 points all thanks to mikel who scored 1 and assist 1 also to help us scale past Benin Republic...or Mali.

only for the team to mess up against Ghana..we had all what it takes to beat Ghana that day...but we missed a penalty and the heavy players could not play any reasonable football
