People expect consistent first team level performances from these guys and it’s just unfair. Setting them up for failure.
Chambers was chucked in way too early and it damaged him in my opinion but he is coming back slowly.
They need to develop their games week in week out with no mountains of pressure. The talent we have in our academy is numerous.
But some people are of the opinion that Mbappe,De light, are tearing Europe apart and we should stop saying a player is young, give them time to learn and shouldn't be spared of harsh criticism.

True to some extent. Treating them with kid gloves doesnt always work. They must also see every opportunity given as a chance to show they deserve to play based on their quality. That's what transforms youngsters into world class players. So in essence a bit of both lol.

nobody said we shouldn’t give young players time. What we said was giving a young player that hasn’t done anything so special to own a position 90mins week in week out when we can try other options is at the detriment of the club.

If we maintain the back line, then we play Ceb, Torreira and Xhaka in midfield.

Saka/Ozil Auba Pepe. Upfront

Emery confirms both Tierney and bellerin will play tomorrow for the under23 team.

I think they are like a month from playing 1st team, I reckon they would play at least 2 U23 games before they are ready for 1st team action. Holding is ahead in the recovery curve considering he has played 2 U23 games without any setbacks.

..... Goals would have rained from either sides today if it wasn't for bad finishing. Luck really dey our side these days and I can't really understand why our full backs allow wingers to put in dangerous crosses. The coaches should look into that.

.... Smith lost the ball a bit too much that would have made us pay on another day but decent outing from the lads and an excellent display from the Saka kid. I love it when young players take their chances when given. I love his hustle and energy; Nelson should take a cue from him. Jogging after he lost the ball in the Watford game was really annoying.

.... The coaching crew should also work on the players shooting abilities especially the midfielders. We need more scorers especially if Auba or Laca are not available or not in form.

.... Shout out to the unfairly criticized and rejected ones. They played well today. Captain Fantastic, well done.

Yes they will need to play two or three U-21s matches before both comes back. So not before the next international break.
Bellerin looked really fast in the training footage I watched. He Lost a couple kilos of muscle looking at the footage and pics.
Can't wait for mid October when bellerin and Tierney are fully fit, they will take us a level or two higher.

Couldn't watch the match. Hardly watch Europa group stage match tho. But from the comments and reactions here, it's believed we really played well. I'm happy for saka, even tho I didn't watch him, but a goal and 2 assist in your first competitive game this season speaks a lot on the potential he has. Heard he took on his Man and he's fearless. That's the kind of performance most of us was expecting from Nelson (not comparison him tho). Good clean sheet by the way, with a defence of luiz and mustafi is surprising on paper. Can't say much, cos rightly, I didn't watch the game. Just happy for the lads, and the positivity it might bring to the team. Unto the next game. COYG.

I don't know if this sounds right, but I wish Pepe could get into such positions like Saka did yesterday and also shoot as calmly as the boy did. If u watch Saka's goal again you would see he was calm, didn't over hit the ball, but rather chose his angle and placed a curling ball into the corner of the net.

Also, in the buildup to the first goal he easily beat his man one on one and laid the ball in Willock's path without allowing the opposing player's press to get the better of him and lay a misplaced pass.

This is no way comparing the two of them or claiming Saka is superior ó, but I just feel if Pepe can get more comfortable without thinking of his price tag each time he gets the ball then he will hit the topmost form soonest.

The Ivorian Danny Welbeck cheesy sorry world best dribbler needs to score before next international break, because fans may descend on him like Pogba, Even Hazard is on this table, Goals and assists are what fans and media wants to see from a forward with such high price tag.

Now let's get a quality LW in jan, so Saka can study and be the new Raheem Sterling.

In as much as pepe isn't there yet as we want him to, I won't call him derogatory words just yet. I believe he's still struggling with the fact that decisions in the epl are to be taken in an instant without being given much space for showboating.

I believe if our midfield comes back alive with Xhaka spreading the ball up field and Luiz occasionally doing same, pepe should be beating his closest marker and getting into shooting positions.

Yes of course, I just used that Ivorian Lingard as a tease.
Pepe will click for sure, even if it's next season, but I believe by October after next break, he would have adapted and understood the football culture..
Personally, even without much end product for now, I believe he's been a major asset to our attack.

He isn't turning into Musa, the team structure and disjointed attack strategy would make any Winger struggle...

Emilio for me was the standout player. Now, this is not for the brilliance in saves but for TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. These are my thoughts and i may be wrong, but i do not think Emilio played to the managers instructions cos i still don't think Emery has suddenly stopped his playing out from the back philosophy. What i do think is that Emilio simply just said, "Bleep all this pass from the back, if you are wide open on the wings upfront , i will just send you the ball".

If that's the case then shame on the "we were scared idiots called senior players" How can players not understand that there are times when what you planed in training is not working out during the game and you take it upon yourselves if indeed there are leadership qualities to change the plan, how hard is that? Not saying Emilio is now the next best thing but damn he simply just ignored everything in the managers book and played to his own strengths.

Still worried about our midfield compactness cos we were just way to easy to get by in that midfield . The manager has to take responsibility for this continuous occurrence

I feel that bro and that's my opinion on the matter, The manager wants you play from the back but common sense should tell when to switch to long ball, you've got 3 opposition players closing you down in the box,you still went ahead to pass to opponent, At 30 yrs, he really messed up and should be punished with bench..

Of all the 8 goals we've conceded in the league, at least 5 of them are give aways, take away that and its maximum points in those games...

Yes the midfield is still porus but its a minor problem and will get better with time, the most deadly of them is give aways at the back.
