Hello there, I know your reading this thread of mine is not with a normal eyes, it's either you are currently facing same situation or your friend is, or perhaps you have solved it but it didn't work out as you intended,

This is mrcool advanced automotive previously but now automobile..

I have been through this lane and I was sturbon and Willing to spend and work this out,

I bought 2000 VW golf 4 late 2018 with oil gushing out of the spark plus, it never occur to me that the engine is retard, I ringed it first, it worked for a month and gets worse than b4,, I ringed it again with the so called original rings second time, it lasted 5 months but within those time I could see it coming back to zero ohms against my thought, everyone's advice is for me to get another engine which will cost me 75 to 80k aside workmanship,

At the 3rd time, I took a step I have Never took before and examined each components that pushed me back to shit Burg, took out the block pistons con rod crankshaft and piston rings gear box was out too and was left with nothing but bare bones,

Every replace it kind of Mechanics looked at me like as if I went rogue for taking my engine apart to scratch, asking will it start again? Golf 4 the famous electrical acclaimed chief of trouble?.

My discovery led to my recovery, I did something unusual to get outstanding result, and that unusual step is the game changer to getting any car engine that smokes a RIP from smoking..

I ringed my engine without packing rings, cos my close extermination shows that the previous two times ringing has the packing rings broken,

I discovered lots of things that if I throw it into the air right now, it will crash the auto parts sellers price of engine cos you will not throw that huge amount of money into engines when you have a lot to do with money,

If I decided to write a book on how to become a better mechanical using my secret, it won't sell half of my publication so I can only share this far,

100% proof that using fake pistons rings on your Nissans, Mazda infinity and some other engine will work out better after been ringed giving it another chance of 2 to 3 yrs

If you dare ring your car without packing rings like I did, it won't work, why cos there is a lot to learn and a lot to stay away from why you need to have in mind as prerequisite set before opening your engine,

I will prefer to be a Ringer than a Replace it kind of mechanics which is literally 97 percent of all we have in Nigeria, why? Cos I always want to take the biggest bull by the Horn solving the most hectic and challenging task that others can't as my hobby doing above normal human efforts.

If there is any secrete I will share more is, there is 3 out of 100% original rings in Nigerian parts market which contributed to why mechanic efforts of ringing a car failed after a day to job done.

If it's a get it working mechanic like me that goes to China to manufacture a spare parts for engine, you will prefer your engine ringed that replaced but unfortunately she have tycoon who knew next to nothing about this components going to give them specs.

By the way, It will cost you half of the cost of your current cost of your engine to get it stopped from smoking and oil shortage.. For 4 cylinders, 6 to eight will vary upwards..

Lastly duration expectations will vary with Nigerian China engineered piston rings, cofap 3 years goetz 2yrs

But with original after market fit piston rings or after market like sealed power 3 to 5yrs min dependent on the Health of your engine block.

Understanding how this crucial components works is a the 50% Skill required to getting it into block and working correctly. The oil rings or 3rd ring is the Genesis of the oil shortage and smoking,

Nigerian mechanics lacks understanding of how this parts play along with each other, that's why when your car is ringed and it started smoking and wetting spark plug, it still runs at high speed like new aside jerking randomly but also just go chains of smoke along.

Two time invested and tools used..
Thanks for your time I will see you on the other side of my garage..

I disagree with you.

A 3 cylinder engine has just been recently ringed for me as a test.

Zero oil leak, zero smoke and psi is in range across all cylinders.

Engine build is more of an art.

A day old Or a month?

What was the mileage on your car before the engine was ringed? There is possibility of healthy block meaning healthy sleeves at that point counterfeit pistons rings will work but give it a year it will smoke again,

What's the make of the piston rings he used, goetz cofap TRW Or NPR?

What's the gap between your piston and sleeves 2mm or less than 1mm? The bore

What's your engine size 1.8L or 2.0 ?

What's your A3 engine block major component made of path aluminum and cast sleeves or cast all through?

Be logical so we can know your standing point and knockout..

I know it uses VW engine some 1.8 aluminum block some 1.8 cast iron block ..

By the way your disagreement is to agreement if you know how long engine last with genuine factory fited piston rings before it starts giving issues coupled with every day stress and strain from heat on the combustion chamber, you will know you sound more clueless disagreeing with me.

I’m clueless and not logical because I don’t agree with you?

Wow grin

I’ve been rebuilding engines both in Nigeria and the USA probably long before you were born.

But you win because I don’t wish to argue.

Enjoy.

you sound funny

If you are whom you claim to be yes you will be honest even if you are being secretive I can go with that, but not being logical, not giving up the technical details of your a3 before dis simply don't make any meaning.. Or sense apparently there is no foundation for the debate or argument as it out to be,

he who fight and run away live to fight for ever..be specific be logical in your point then that's a pro talking..

There’s actually nothing he can teach me. I’ve been building engines long before he was probably born so no insult taken from him.

Apparently, in his zest to sound pompous he faltered by thinking I said I had an engine rebuilt for an Audi A3. I don’t own an A3. I’ve owned A4, A6 and A8L before. Owned, not customers cars grin

What I wrote was that “A 3 cylinder engine”. My Subaru Libero has 3 cylinders.

olumzzz:

Can you show us pictures of the mods

1) Ported cylinder head.

2) Bigger carburetor (a Peugeot one, if in the USA would have used Weber sidedraft carbs) with a modified intake.

3) Reduced weight by removing all carpeting.

4) Home made cat less exhaust system.

Pictures at some point.

Sounds interesting.
Can't wait for the pictures.
I've also done cat-less exhaust system, gives me a turbo charged feeling.
Modified intake on the way.

A disagreement with a complete technical details and factors which is based on fact without a point is a much of a bigger insult to my personality period!

the guy might be smart but he obviously has an attitude problem, I thought it might be stress of work but it’s bordering closer to inferiority complex hence the unwarranted arrogance.

That aside, I’ve never heard of a 3 cylinder engine, heck even my mumu ecosport gives me malaria. How do you manage in that thing ?

Works surprisingly well. It’s 1.2 liters, 5 speed and AWD.

I’m used to small engines in some of my cars, you just got to be in the correct powerband.

One of my favorite commute cars in Los Angeles was 0.8 liters. I even had. Pontiac Trans AM that was 5.7 liters at the same time but will take the keys to the 0.8 liters every time grin

honestly I’m surprised at the keke napep engines you seem to enjoy, I personally don’t believe any car should come with 1.8L capacity. It’ll be as if I'm wasting the freeway besides small engines can cause malaria, ask any doctor

It’s not always all about the liters though.

Both my Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX SE and Subaru Impreza WRX STi we’re powered by 2.0 liters but made factory 300 horsepower at the wheels grin
