[quote author=glorybasseymma post=82427341] I was employed by Mrs. Jola Otedola. to work as a social media person. My duties were to open all the social media pages, create awareness, runs Ads and promote the company online and bring people to books ticket etc. and I can also assist others in ticketing and reservation, attend to client's travel needs.

I open all the social media pages, drive traffics and followers to the page less than 3weeks. I Runs ads and promote the business, contact an influencer to help us promote our next tours. some people called for booking but because of the money she is asking them to pay, the decline and book else were.

Now after 3weeks of paying transport from Alagbole to Victoria Island every day. She told me yesterday that she wants t to employ someone else, that does not bring sales. NOTE(The business just started on the first of 2nd of September this 2019)

I am the one that opens all the social media pages.

I ask of my 3weeks payment, She calls the security to throw me out. Saying that I am a church rat that I should go to court, telling me not to go to police cause they will not do anything to her. Because she has money and she is married to OTEDOLA JUNIOR.

And I am the 5 person she is doing this too. The business name is Flightjara Travels and Tour.LOcated in SAnusi fafunwa victoria island Lagos. I have the contact of another worker if you need more detail. I needs judges with this, cause she believes I can not do anything to her because of who she is married

This is one side and next time you have issues with your employer, figure a way out, because no one will employ you with this kind of attitude.it is better you delete it.

Lawless country, am facing the same issue.
I work for 5 years for a contractor as a site officer in NBC Enugu, around middle of May this year the company relief me of my job without any notice all in the name of reducing cost. The most painful thing is, uptill now my Boss refuse to pay me May salary and 1 month payoff according to my appointment letter. The worst is my boss refuse taking my calls, i have been struggling with my wife and daughter for the past 4 months now, i don't have money to fight him so i leave it for God. This is one of the major reason crime is increasing in this country.

I have read the reactions so far. Most of them point to the sorry state of our contemporary reasoning which is far from objective.

Only a few posters gave the employer the benefit of doubt.

The OP has not said it all. Posterity will reveal this sooner than later.

Typical of many employees, she seeks an easy way out. She prefers the madam dropping her prices so that people will buy at a loss and yet she will insist on her bogus salary at the end of the month.

If she sells at your advocated price she wouldnt need your services at all.

With your letter she has more responsibilities and must thereforesell at premium price only.

........And OP this was definitely not the way to go. Do you remember how many interviews you failed before this woman took pity on you. I would have preferred that you prove to her and indeed yourself that the many years of unemployment had nothing to do with your lack of capacity and depth..... just my thoughts though.

Sorry for the sad experience. Is it the trauma from the sacking that made your English this poor?
What sort of stupid question is that? Have you ever asked your stupid president why he speaks bad English?

@OP, I understand your situation. I have worked as a social media manager before and I know how it feels to put in time and hardwork to grow pages and see your client show no gratitude.

I checked @flightjara on instagram now, you were only able to add 14 followers within 3 weeks of taking up this work. For the kinds of strategy ( ads, giveaways etc) you put in growing this account , I'd say this is a very low ROI. If you implement real Instagram growth strategies, that page should have 300+ followers by now, even without ads or anything.

One of the questions, we should be asking you is if you are an expert at this and if you aren't, were you clever enough to outsource or contact someone who could have put you through.

There is more to this story i believe

Its a simple stuff, since your buyer couldn't pay for your product, then you have all the right to recall your services. Deactivate that website.

Was she not interviewed before employment? People dont employ themselves in another person's company. It's on the company to employ qualified hands. As long as you employed them, and they have used their time, money and resources to actually work for you, you have to pay them.

Nigerian youths should start thinking the entrepreneurship way! With 20k, you can start something! It's not about the capital, but the knowledge you have! The new rule of money is: "Knowledge is the new money." Some people will come for my neck!

Ur kinds are the reasons why Nigeria is behind in most of the things we do as a people. This lady was ill-treated and as a matter of fact, needs justice and here u are acting stupid and callous as if she is a nobody.

I wish ur generation exactly what she is going through now. Rubbish!

Your terrible English cost you your job aunty. I just hope you are not wasting your time here looking for what is not lost. Perhaps you claimed to have finished from Cambridge University while your English proved otherwise. I can't understand why Nigerian graduates struggle to write in good English. I mean that should be the basic thing...
How old are you pls?

This is totally out of place. I am no Buhari fan but you cannot fault his English grammar. His accent may be very strong but the grammar is faultless.

What happens to the product and services that had already been supplied and consumed?

Deactivating the website would not pay for her time, money and efforts she sold to the company.

This is a very straightforward something, she was employed, a salary was agreed on. Within 3weeks, the company feels she's not good enough.

It's the fault of the employer for not screening her well enough. Divide the agreed 1month salary into 4, multiply it by 3, that's her 3weeks salary. Etiquette demand at least 20% of the salary as pay off too sha.

It's a simple sturvs. I'm sure the money in question isn't up to a tenth of the cost of the boss's handbag.

Travelling from Alagbole to V.I was not part of the job description.

She took a job for which she had no training or expertise for.

Do you speak better English than Buhari? People that are obsessed with other people's English are usually very poor at English themselves. They tend to deflect from their own frailties by deflecting attention to others. I once met an illiterate taxi driver telling me that Buhari has no certificate and can't speak English. I just laughed.
