This is a very shallow and silly statement by the apex bank, why hide information from Nigerians when their hard earned money is involved ? It seems to me that we do not have qualified decision makers at the CBN. What sort of half baked information is this, optional? Why put out the statement if you won't give us full details, like we are beggers with our money in our own country. 139 Likes 5 Shares |

The CBN just wants to use mental gymnastics to confuse people. The other day, they gave a shady example on how the 2% only affects money above 500k. so if it's 501000, you pay 2% of the 1000, that's N20. But who the hell withdraws N501000? 59 Likes 3 Shares |

Who is fooling who? Saving face after several backlashes. Policy somersault will haunt this administration, they made this statement not that they know what they're telling the public but an afterthought to buy time to land safely after a bad decision. 58 Likes 3 Shares |

Do they think we are fools ni What other option won't involve money? They are currently stealing from us but they want to make it official. I don't see any reason why I should be charged when I receive a credit alert. This is daylight robbery please You sleep with #20,000 in your account, wake up to #19,950..the devil will tempt you to recharge your phone before you know it current balance #19,000 and the cycle continues Na piggybank (AKA kolo) go sure pass.. no time for this rubbish 45 Likes 2 Shares |

If you utilize the various options available for payments - POS, QR code, USSD, etc, you would not need cash. Or you'd need just minimal cash. 17 Likes |

Optional as in I want to deposit now and I tell the cashier "hello, I feel generous today I would like to pay for my deposit charges." If that's the way optional now works, can paying phcn bill also be optional. https://www.nairaland.com/5410734/buy-install-car-tracker-affordable 34 Likes 4 Shares |

Optional as in, when you decide to make cash withdrawals or deposits in excess of the limits given it is assumed you have chosen to pay the fine. 7 Likes |

We just like to sensationalize things here. I even thought the charge applied to all the deposits. Even mechanics and petty traders have bank accounts. Why should anyone be carrying cash above 500k 20 Likes 1 Share |

Walahi, this is funny! So you mean I will see the option to be charged for making deposit or withdrawal and I will choose such option? They should tell us another story. So I will choose an option to be scammed. Yeye dey smell 6 Likes 1 Share |

What manner of confused confusion is this? Banks will still charge you whether or not it is optional...Is CBN now a commercial bank or a regulatory body? cuz me I am not understanding this romantic confusion going on between them. 9 Likes 2 Shares
