samorobo: The sane people in here along with myself beg to differ! THE STATISTICS ACCORDING TO HIM SHOWED THAT,LOW FIGURE FOR GDP PER CAPITA INCOME OF $1,154 https://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/10/half-of-nigerians-live-in-slums-un/ Read the link and see your own slums where 60% of you live while wanking about Kibera! Btw,he's the programme manager of UN Habitat,so obvioulsy he'd know. Also that was 2011 and you've entered a recession while oil price had fallen 60% since. As for us we're already in the first stages of what's called demographic dividend when declining fertility means the ratio of dependants to those of working age falls drastically. Already in parts of Kikuyuland pre schools and ECDE classes suffer many empty desks as for the first time ever the 0-5 cohort are less than 5-10 years. Kenya is at the cusp of a “demographic dividend” that could change the country’s fortunes in the first half of the 21st century, [/b]but only if the country takes the right steps towards investing in its youth. Millions of people in East Asia were lifted out of poverty by lowering the dependency ratio and individuals and families were able to make savings which translated into investment that boosted economic growth in countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.......There is reason for optimism that Kenya can benefit from a demographic dividend within 15 to 20 years. It is estimated that its working age population will grow to 73 per cent by 2050, bolstering the country’s GDP per capita 12 times higher than the present, with nearly 90 per cent of the working age in employment. Meaning our GDP per capita should be 24,000$ by then while others joyfully ululate about brand new empty high speed SGRs,invisible electric railways and unseen multi million tonne rice harvests and peanut mountains. Here's a reminder of the potential of our real national asset -our human capital. Kenya is poised to produce Africa’s most productive human capital in the medium term, a World Bank survey shows, buoyed by the country’s present deep investment in healthcare and child education. The inaugural Human Capital Index (HCI) the World Bank published recently shows that Kenya ties with Algeria in offering the best education and health in the continent — factors that would make them churn out most productive workers by 2036. Kenya scores 0.52 to rank 94 in the world out of the 157 countries ranked in the HCI that puts Singapore on top of the world with a score of 0.88. It beats large economies in Africa such as South Africa, Nigeria and Egypt. The report comes barely a month after Bloomberg report ranked Kenyan immigrants working in the US as the third most skilled and industrious foreigners. In the region, Tanzania scores 0.40 in the HCI at position 128 followed by Ethiopia, Uganda and Sudan with 0.38 at position 135, 137 and 139 respectively while Rwanda scores 0.37 at position 142. The HCI survey shows that Kenya has made efforts in building the right foundations to churn out productive workers by the age of 18. Kenya has in the past decade been implementing various reforms aimed at improving the quality of education. Key among them is funding of the free primary and day-secondary education. In addition, the government registered more technical and vocational education training (TVET) institutions to bridge skill gaps in the labour market. The reforms have yielded some fruit with Economic Survey 2018 showing that total enrolment in pre-primary schools rose by 2.9 per cent to 3.29 million in 2017 compared to the previous year while enrolment in primary schools increased from 10.3 million in 2016 to 10.4 million in 2017. In addition, enrolment in secondary schools grew by 4.1 per cent to 2.83 million in 2017. As jobs become defined by more cognitive and analytical tasks, the World Bank cites Kenyan worker as having the ability to compete well. “In Bolivia and Kenya, more than 40 per cent of workers using computers perform complex tasks that require advanced programming,” says the report. "Indeed, the demand is growing for transferable higher-order cognitive skills such as logic, critical thinking, complex problem-solving, and reasoning.” In health, the report observes that Kenya has made progress in making children survive from birth to school age. It notes that the death of any child is not only a tragedy but also a loss of human capital, which is never realised. ....., The World Bank study also shows that bureaucracies charged with implementing policies to build human capital often lack the capacity or the incentives to do so effectively. Service delivery indicators survey the World Bank conducted in seven countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including Kenya found that, on average, three in 10 fourth-grade teachers had not mastered the language curriculum they were teaching. “On a positive note, 94 per cent of Kenyan teachers had done so,” says the report that also ranks Kenyan doctors ahead of Nigeria. “The surveys paint an equally mixed picture for healthcare facilities: About 80 per cent of Kenyan doctors could correctly diagnose a basic condition such as neonatal asphyxia, whereas less than 50 per cent of Nigerian doctors were able to do so. |

tylann: Yes and that's why I am telling you that you are so stupid and I never expected stupid people like you to understand ... remember it's not an insult.. Your kq is just 3 and the are like a gazillion reputable source online to back that up. You dear are just clinging to the good old day when you had 40 fleets but I am sorry we are in 2019 and all you have is just a pathetic 3 fleet waiting to be sold off so this disgrace can be wiped off the continent face permanently.. Just imagine a foreigner flew using kq and survived that rusty interior and when he landed he read the inscription"THE PRIDE OF AFRICA" and as shocked as he was he headed straight to the internet to verify and saw how your loss making airline is not only useless in business but also useless in maintenance, won't such fellow nod his head in pity for this continent and even go as far as saying Africans are a disgrace to humanity..... Your happiness should be the fact that this DISGRACE will soon be over..I as a person take joy and comfort in knowing that, perhaps you should too 3 Likes |

Abohboy [size=8pt: Nigerians are very low in progress and development I have seen this all over the world including when I visited Nigeria. If you find one Nigerian good person on the other hand will be 200 Nigerian criminals. In America I have seen this and in Europe I have also seen it. American is a very good example they are up to a million Nigerians in America. But the Nigerian achievers in America are not even up to 400 Nigerians. The same thing in the United Kingdom with over 2 million Nigerians. The amount of Nigerian achievers in UK and not up to 300. The race Nigerians they are all criminals. This is a reality with Nigerians all over the world for everyone good Nigerian there are 500 Nigerian criminals. That's why if you look at performance and achievement Nigeria is number 32 in Africa If you take world factbook 65% of Nigerians survive on crime. In America Europe UK South Africa Nigerian professors and doctors follow criminals for money tonight and worship criminals. Look at Nigeria lecturers in the United Kingdom and America they are now running to other African countries like South Africa and Ghana because nobody will employ them or give them a job. In Europe and the Americas Nigerians have the highest unemployment rate. The big problem with Nigeria's is they will look at the few good ones which are less than a million they will not look at the criminals which are 179 million 1 Like |

SUFFERInSMILIIN: Okay hut then how come if every single Nigerian left south Africa, the eastern cape in particular the whole healthcare system there would fall apart. without Nigerians MTN would have never left South Africa. without Nigerians the PC would not have been created, he helped to develop the laptop with developers in Stanford University. but yea were all criminals aren't we. You know the gauteng a Nigerian helped design it, same for every single Fifa world cup stadium in South Africa. Then the canary wharf tunnel in London was also partially designed by a Nigerian man, added to that why does Canada keep on coming to the Nigerian government asking for immigrants. if all of us criminals you have no sense eh mumu man wey no get sense. Explain to me why all this is happening then. I'm waiting 2 Likes 1 Share |

samorobo:That's true. But the one that got me thinking is how Kenya has never produced anything significant without mixing up with foreigners. Take for examples: Obama: American mom, Masai: Nigerian dad. Safaricom: founded by a Briton. Möbius Cars: founded by a Briton. Cellulant: founded by a Kenyan and a Nigerian. Comcraft: founded by an Indian Kenyan. Kenyan Wildlife Conservancies: run by British Kenyans. Richest Kenyan: Indian. . Most popular forum in Kenya: Jamiiforum(Tanzanian owned) and Nairaland.Nigerian owned.) There is something fundamentally wrong with the Kenyan gene. Even Nairobi and Mombasa, their major towns were founded by foreigners. Sad. 2 Likes 1 Share |
