THANKS ALOT. I TRULY APPRECIATE. GOD BLESS YOUauthor=JustMellow post=82525227] Hello Okilala, ..from my own perspective, i would advise against an appeal. It will be better to put in another application for her. This time, show proof of her home ties by using tangible things i.e. employment, landed properties, investments connected to you as her parent or both parent to build a strong home ties for her. Also, on her own part; a savings account, insurance saving scheme, children membership camps or organization, investments in her name etc can be good to make a strong home ties profile for her. If you're able to tackle and satisfy the VO on home ties, the travel history won't be a problem, as it will be waived. If you have a travel history, you can also use it as a leverage to explain (to) or convince the VO. Good luck![/quote] |

Congratulations. But why do you wanna leave naija on the 29th of October. That is quite early for spring semester start date for January... and you might be questioned at the POE. (MIGHT). Also which province are you going to? You have to sort your accommodation out oooo. especially given that it is winter months you are coming in. Good luck. abubakarsubuana: |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Mudicua: 9:49pm On Sep 24, 2019 |
lol... It is located in Saskatoon... If you wanna share the town exactly. (but it would have just been easier to just say where it was than throwing a rhetorical question) And that is my school.... But why do you wanna show up almost 3 months prior to your start date. As for accommodation, I think it is better you start to search very well now. I was advised to stay in residences (it is said to be cheaper than off campus housing cos of the included utility bills, internet, cable and laundry- though that is also relative cos i know some persons who think staying off campus is better). Good thing is that it is a 10 to 15 min walk to campus. Where have you searched? Check Kijiji too, you might be lucky to get some places. Good luck. abubakarsubuana: |

My personal opinion, I don't think you have to start showing residency permit now that you are out. Just supply the necessary documents with supporting documents. The study permit will suffice AyoitsMub: |

bennyg24: Let me add to what qudkom said. Long post alert. (1) Getting a part time job depends on city and province. If you search on Indeed and physically go and hand in your resume in companies, you will get a job. Please don't be choosy, any job that comes first, do it. (2) Canada education is not hard (my opinion) but it is super stressful and demanding. Make sure you have the right team. Ensure you move with people who share same goals with you. There will be days you will feel like giving up or no motivation to continue, it is your friends/team that will boost your morale in those low moments. There will be days you will have multiple assignments, reports or quizzes due and you need mental support, suggestions and so forth. This is where having the right support comes in. The Chinese girl that had the best result in my program worked 3 days a week and she had 4.1 out of a possible 4.2. For a whole session , I had at least 98% attendance in all my modules, I worked part time and I had11A's and 1B. Another Nigerian lady in my program, had same result, she worked night shifts and combined it with school. Nigerians are strong and built for anything (3) Taking care of living expenses with part time work is dependent on if you are working for full 20 hours. Most jobs are structured for 8 hours per shift, so some companies will give you just 2 days in a week because of the 20 hours work restriction students have, while some companies will give you 21/2 days (your exact 20 hours). Some students work 3 days, 22.5 or 24 hours. I do not recommend working above 20 hours though. If you work for exact 20 hours in London, Ontario and its environs (Sarnia, Windsor), you will get at least 1000CAD monthly. Minimum wage in Ontario is 14 Cad. so lets do the maths; Accommodation = 450 - 550 Cad Feeding = about 150 Cad monthly Data = 50 Cad monthly Total equals about 750 Cad. You can end up saving at least 200 Cad every month. Even if you do not get the exact 20 hours, 16 hours weekly can take care of feeding, accommodation and data if the student knows how to spend wisely. P.s The major reason why International students (Nigerians) struggle in Canada is finance. Once you have money, tuition fully paid, you will do well in Canada. 17 Likes 5 Shares |

pittoilet: What was your reason for deferring the admission If you were having difficulty in obtaining a study permit, you ought to have deferred 1 to 3 weeks into the program. There is usually a deferral fee but it’s usually waived if study permit is the issue; and you ought to indicate that in your deferral letter. You should have a new admission letter within 4weeks. But this should be done 1 to 3 weeks into the program. All the best. |

Zzzz1234: Yes, you can. However, from April 2019 till date, you can fill in internship/voluntary service with dates. N.B: be best advised that you have to work on your finance or available funds which will sufficiently cover your studies and that of your sponsor too, if not, you might get the "current employment situation" and/or financial status and personal asset" 1 Like |

hotboss: You've been denied MSc Admission isn't a good reason to opt for a low college admission. Your chances of securing a VISA to Canada with such reason/college acceptance letter is slim but not impossible. With the high rate of scrutiny/refusals for study permit Applications coming from Nigeria, my best advice is that you should keep on searching until you're able to secure a master's program, even if it's a course-based oriented program. With regards to your question, police character certificate can be done in any part of Nigeria, including Abuja. Though the police headquarters in Abuja will have to forward your details to CID police headquarters at Alagbon, Lagos for due processing, which will then be sent back to them and might incur charges let's say 15-20k as it's not done within Abuja. |
