Chelsea have registered their first home win under manager Frank Lampard, scoring seven goals against Grimsby Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

Faustino Anjorin became the latest youngster to benefit from Chelsea's transfer ban following his introduction in the 67th minute as a replacement for Pedro, his senior debut for the London club he officially joined at U9 level.

Aged 17 years, 10 months and 2 days, Anjorin has become the youngest player of Nigerian descent to debut for Chelsea in a domestic competition, breaking the record previously held by Fikayo Tomori, who was aged 18 years, 4 months and 26 days when he debuted for Chelsea in the Premier League in May 2016.

Chelsea led 3-1 at the break; Ross Barkley, Michy Batshuayi and Pedro with the goals for the home team while Matthew Green pulled a goal back for the Mariners.

Kurt Zouma, Reece James and Batshuayi scored to make it 6-1 before Callum Hudson-Odoi found space in the near post and finished emphatically to round out the scoring.

Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham watched proceedings from the bench for the entirety of the game and Grimsby Town's Moses Ogbu entered the game as a sub in the 64th minute

it's like Nigeria have players in almost all British Clubs..... barely you'll find non-Nigeria origin players in any of the English club academics

It's a shame that most teenage footballers from Africa don't like to keep beards for fear of being tagged age cheats...

Small gemu, some people will say the player has 20 children he has been hiding in Ikot-Ekpene and has wives from Oshodi under bridge to Zaria.

Never saw or heard anything about that guy till he came in in tonight's game maybe because I don't really follow Chelsea.

Good one for him.

I disagree we black African do not have a genetic disposition to facial hair the same way as Caucasian and or Asians.

If there is suspicion of age cheating it's because it's in every facet of our lives in Nigeria. There are men married to women who are older than them and they don't know or found out when it was too late.

The reason we dont have automatic birth data capture and no official government corroboration of age. So we rely entirely on personal integrity.

There was a time when Fulham had so many Nigerian origin players they were called the Nigerians.

Even in the North West I haven't found any Championship club or EPL club without any Nigerian origin players in them.

Asians have predisposition to facial hair? What part of Asia? Because the East Asians surely don't have this predisposition.

When you say Africans, what part do you really mean? Because West Africans of Bantu origin have a predisposition to facial hair, but same cannot be said of the Southern Africans of Khoisan origin.

Watching the Carab cup and seeing how many EPL clubs have fallen to lower league competition.

Makes it so unpredictable and therefore exciting.

I would have to respectfully disagree.

West Africans and Central Africans naturally have a predisposition to facial hair; virtually everyone and their daddy has a beard down here, they are the SI Unit for beards as far as the black race is concerned. Same cannot be said of Southern African men, who greatly lack facial hair.

The same way East Asians barely have facial hair, but the Southern Asians, who are closer to, and even part of, the hairiest of them all, Middle Easterners, have facial hair.

It depends on what parts of these continents you speak of, or what races within the race.

Many of these teams that lost or struggled used second string sides.

Arsenal used kids to trash Nothingham Forest who are doing great in the championship.

Compared to Caucasians and south Asians, West African don't grow facial hair as quickly. 16 year old west africans are usually just getting their first strands.

Liverpool's 16-year old star of tonight's game, Harvey Elliot.

He could easily pass for a 26-year old wrestling fan/white supremacist from Arizona...thankfully, he doesn't look extremely British. His choice of facial hair and hairstyle is indicative of his age, but I can see some Gareth Bale inspiration, just didn't come out as sleek cheesy

He is a good technical player playing pretty football surrounded by quality players.

He is going to be hyped but l watched him get destroyed by Manchester city 's Pounded Yam boys who left him for dead. He is too slow to play on the wing.

Nonetheless, the business of football and marketing will see him get sold for at least £5 million. Within two years he could be playing non league or last tier national league.

I didn't contest the Caucasian line, I contested the generalized Asian line, because East Asians barely grow any facial hair.

how can someone he objective again...all because I didn't play to your tune.
was Stephen keshi not managing the super eagles job and the CHAN team at the same time during his reign...
was yusuf not managing the CHAN team and the under 23 team too at the same time...

this two coaches achieved results....
trying to use that premise does not hold water....
and also saying Imama never applied for the job... If he is not okay with the job...
please why can't him resign...
is he forced to do the job with a gun threat...?

saying the NFF have refused especially pinnick to relieve this incompetent coaches their jobs.... I totally agree with you...

mind you...pinnick is trying to thread carefully he doesn't have the full support of the APC led government and sports ministry... reason why he is being careful not toil with the job of this coaches especially yusuf at the onset....

notwithstanding he has failed in that regard Still....

please try and know that I am a very blunt person...I don't hide mediocrity....imama and agu have never lived up to expectations at all.

and also the NPFL players have been kind of disappointing too especially when they leave the shores of the country save for Odey recently.

What full support does Pinnick want from the current government again? The same Pinnick that said on national TV that the kind of support the current NFF have gotten from the govt has never been recorded in the history of NFF and the SE. So please no need smuggling any excuse in for Pinnick.
